She’s their secret weapon… A lot of people place her second to Karen but this proves that she is just as good. Understand that she literally switched and sang all three parts of the harmony in this one song alone. And every run and rift Karen did - Dorinda has always been able to repeat it. Except for when Karen did a super long run, that even herself couldn’t repeat. And that’s technically a play on Dorinda’s memory and not her actual VOCAL ability. And let us be VERY clear: many people label a “better singer” because they favor a higher (saprano) voice over the lower more mezzo tones, but make NO mistake - Dorinda is an alto by CHOICE. All of this along with her clear yet raspy tone sets her a part from the rest of the industry - even NOW in 2023!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Acting in their early years dorinda sang tenor when Twinkie lead, jacky range was much higher and voice was in better sound. Listen to Jackie early with them and just concentrate on her. Dorinda is a soprano/alto. The only reason why Dorinda's more of an alto now, because of the hoarseness with years of preaching and non stop touring with her sisters/solo. She would never rest her voice, whether singing or preaching. But naturally Dorinda is definitely more of a soprano. Twinkie is a soprano too, but can go low. The only true alto/tenor is Jackie and even Jackie could sing high and she has in harmonies over the years. They all could sing soprano. They only lower their voices for blending purposes. Karen is the highest soprano out of all them for sure though.

This is indeed the exact same recording as the audio I have. They cut out the audio between 4:23 & 7:22 for the official release & added on Hallelujah on to it at the end. (well, the version i have might not be the OFFICIAL release seeing as how I downloaded it 2 years ago from Limewire, but the audio is definitely from this performance).

Even after twinkie left Dorinda and Jacky shared alto parts often times ie: "I am blessed." Background singer Kayla Parker sung tenor a lot for them after twinkie left. Dorinda rarely sings soprano anymore but will every now and then when Karen leads. Jacky only really sings alto when she has too. In their age their voices have changed. Even Karen's. yall. all four of them have sung all parts at one point or another. even including karen on tenor. but USUALLY, karen sings soprano, dorinda on alto, jacky on alto or tenor, twinkie on tenor. if it’s a four part harmony, then karen on soprano, dorinda on alto, jacky on tenor, twinkie on baritone. this video is one of those “another” exceptions. dorinda has a great ear (they all do) so she usually takes the part that the other person can’t or doesn’t take for some reason. usually when someone is singing the wrong part, one of the others will pick it up for them, and i’ve seen them all do this but especially dorinda and twinkie. jacky will tell you herself, she does most of the switching depending on who’s leading, which is pretty accurate, however usually she’s only switching between alto/tenor whereas dorinda switches between all three parts frequently. in this particular video, even tho dorindas voice blossoms a little more than jacky on the alto note, the note was too low for jacky, so dorinda dropped down to the tenor (and ATE it with those runs, and the way she kept switching between a bright/dark sound>>>)

That run was actually Twinkie. Twinkie is a sneaky one. When you hear a real dominant tenor sound in their songs, it's Twinkie. In harmonies, Twinkie tended to sing tenor/contralto harmony parts, but then she'll turn around and sing a verse in full soprano. I LOVE me some Twinkie. Well, I love all of these girls. All 4 contribute something special to make up the Clark Sister sound. :-)

Jacky normally sings tenor, Dorinda normally sings ALTO........Twinkie wasn't with them during this time. Dorinda must've been hoarse a little that's why she took bottom. I'm more than certain.
Raymond Collins actually. Jacky in these days always sang alto until they reappeared on twinkies album and it was then on the remake of endow me that we first heard Jacky on tenor..... Before that dorinda always sang tenor if Twinkie lead or was absent
Not necessarily. Dorinda did tenor during the Clark 3 Miracle era of 92-94 when they sing A Praying Spirit.
