Jim when you start a new series that is already many books in, do you plow through all of them or read one or two - pause with a palate cleanser - then dive back in? Currently reading WoT and wondering if I should pause every now and then so as not to get burned out. Just don’t want to hop off and then have trouble getting back in. Curious how you approach big series.
It really depends on the series. The harder it makes my brain work, the more likely taking a break with something completely different and simpler to consume is important. I certainly did multiple palette cleansers as I've worked through two different series of Malazan books. The same for working through Joe Abercrombie's First Law books, as they are pretty darn gritty and dark at times.
Good one
Glad you liked it!
Awesome. I hope to finish WoT in 2025 (TBD on more Malazan 😂)
I'm excited for your WoT completion. AND Malazan... someday...
Wow-bone hunters and reapers gale back to back-those are my next to Malazan reads! I’m somehow even more stoked to get there
I'm jealous that you get to experience those two for the first time. They are a treat!

Thanks!!!!
Wow, many Malazan books!
They made a pretty big impact on me. Some of the best high epic fantasy I've read. All the ones I've read aren't on the Top 100, but nearly all.
Wait,… aren’t there only 100 fantasy series out there?
That would certainly have shortened by TBR list, which is currently sitting at about 1,600 books!
