  • In this video you will get to see a private road run held in North Cornwall as a way of remembering the great men and women of the road steam fraternity that are no longer with us. The run took place on the 15th June 2024 and ran from St Columb Major out towards Mawgen Porth and back again via St Eval.
    Despite the very high winds and a short spout of rain it was a very pleasant day to film this road run. However, towards the end of the day my filming phone took a killer blow when the tripod was blown over and subsequently smashed the phones screen. Thus, the last few clips are filmed on my daily phone and you may be able to notice some sound/video quality differences. I'll take this opportunity to finally upgrade to a 4k video camera and hopefully the video shall improve.
    The steam traction engines in this video are as follows;
    Aveling & Porter no. 10594 'Hercules'
    Burrell no. 2909 'Cornishman'
    Burrell no. 3816 'Cornish Maid'
    Burrell no. 3919 'Susie'
    Burrell no. 3950 'Progress'
    Burrell no. 4014 'Pride of Devon'
    Foden no. 1308 'Earl of Dudley'
    Foden no. 10530 'Pride of the West'
    Foden no. 13762
    Fowler no. 19989 'Onward'
    Marshall no. 88097 'Toby'
    Ransomes Sims & Jefferies no. 42013 'Sister Wendy'

    Some lovely Cornish countryside in the video! Great to see the driving skills on descending that tricky hill too.

    A great video. I'm amazed at the condition of some of the engines on the run, clearly the days of hand-painting have long gone!😄 I love the towel fitted below the guides on Cornish Maid.👍
