in the process of this exact build at the moment but done on an fdm printer, just sanded all the main hammer parts, and ordered some nice leather for the handle, your tutorial was a great help. nice quality of content.
This looks amazing. I got a 3d printer (Bambu Labs P1P) but never actually made anything like this - mostly just functional stuff, the occasional collapsing sword or other small toys and ornaments. Recently seen some videos from you and from Frankly Built and sorely tempted to give this a shot.
Idk how this channel hasn’t blown up. Likely lack of videos. Which I understand this stuff is insanely time consuming. So no hate. But your work is so good.
That really looks amazing man! I’ve been wanting to make one and even the top channels just didn’t have one that looked that great. YOURS looks amazing. It’s a shame your channel doesn’t have more subs. I can’t imagine what you could make with more $$$ :)
Thank you so much - we have taken a bit of a break from the channel but we should be back soon with some more awesome projects. Hearing your amazing feedback is super encouraging!’n
This is super helpful since I'm doing a similar print right now. for the handle, I am thinking about wrapping it in some dark brown electrical tape and cutting out the excess. I think it will turn out very well. Great video!
I am currently going through the nightmare of attempting to sand the handle of one i printed (pla) i may use your idea, any word on how this turned out?
That is awesome - we really want to make a non-cracked version at some point too. And the gilding wax technique is like magic, it really ads some depth to the finish that straight metallic paint cannot achieve! Best of luck
Another awesome video, guys Always excited seeing your notification on my phone Best of luck on the patreon! Once I’ve got a little more disposable income I’ll gladly join
We usually save steel wool for the final sanding before painting just to clean everything up and usually stick to 000 or 0000 (the more zeroes the smoother the finish)
Unfortunately we do not (electrons are also not our area of expertise) we simple wired the the battery to the led then added the switch on the positive wire. Hope that is helpful, best of luck!
Yes! We printed ours in two parts on our Anycubic Photo Mono X - We did the auto supports and then added some manual in key spots to make sure everything was secure.
Great video and tutorial! Thanks for your time. I would like to print the main part on an FDM printer. Would it need support because of the cracks or could I just print it without any support?
One thing to mention the handle is a bit long to print on the Prusa MK3 its taller than the print space. I had to run it on its side and lay it flat. Not sure how that is going to come out but FYI to anyone who is getting this to print.
What is the dimensions of the hammer? I have a Anycubic Photon M3 Premium. Looking to see if I can print the whole hammer head. Printing Dimensions: 9.9*4.9*8.6 in. / 250*123*219 mm(HWD) thanks
Nice work, step by step. i bought the stl and try to build the hammer too. all pieces of the handle are already printed. :) i have a question. there are 4 ornaments in each stl files (greebles for side cap 1/2). is it possible for an FDM printer to make the decorations available to print every plate flat on the build plate? currently i would print them with support and slope. the project is fun. im thinking to buy some star wars stuff. :)
If you have the Meshmixer application you can split the ornaments up into separate files, which would then allow you to orient them to be flat on the built plate. I know it is extra work to do before printing, but for me it seems like a better pay off with better detail on the front and easier/quicker printing all together
I printed this numerous times flat and never could get it to print well. I got a basically perfect print using a 0.2mm nozzle, 0.08mm layer height and printing at about a 45 degree angle (design facing out) with supports only holding the tabs in the back of the greebles. Repeated on all 8 and its very high quality printed in that orientation.
We did not, but it would not be the worst choice to add a clear coat over everything if the prop is going to be handled - we recommend Rust-Oleum clear gloss amzn.to/3EJDKFq - we used it on our pokéball build and has help up so far!
How did you get all the support material out of the cracks? I printed mine standing up with normal supports (probably should have used tree supports). And there is support material all through the cracks and it is not easy to get out of the cracks. Don't really want to do another 19 hour print.
We did have this issues when we initially tried printing the hammer in FDM. We ended up printing in Resin - the supports came out much easier. I would think that using tree supports on an FDM printer might help though!
We had planned to, then Love & Thunder released and we changed plans, we are always trying to get more experience with lighting our props - so this seemed perfect! But we might to the OG eventually.

Absolutely criminal that you guys don't have more subs, easily one of the best resources in this hobby on RUclips.

it is surprising how well it works, best of luck!
thanks for listing all the items required for the project in the description!
Happy to help!

Do it (if you haven't yet)!! I'm printing Stormbreaker for myself right now!
I honestly feel lucky to have found your channel... your content is top tier
thank you so much! Welcome aboard!
Pretty awesome. the gilding wax was a great choice.
Thanks! It is such a cool finish!
I cannot believe your channel has so few subs. Your videos are incredible quality. I hope to achieve that awesome editing myself
Thank you so much!!!
The quality of your videos is next level. Please keep it up.
Will do! We should have something new out by the end of the year!

Hey, quick question! Can you do this with fdm printing?
You can, but there will be a lot of clean up required!
Amazing video bro👍 Been in the process of building this model for the past few day and this is just what i needed!
Glad we could help - best of luck
this is crazy ! :)
|LOVE IT !
Thanks! Really good for hammering really big nails
Great video. What did you use for magnets to hold the end caps on?
This is awesome I'm making mine rn I've begun sanding. If I'm gonna use steel wool do u know of what kind is best, and when and how to use it?
We usually save steel wool for the final sanding before painting just to clean everything up and usually stick to 000 or 0000 (the more zeroes the smoother the finish)
This is so cool I had to make my own. Printing out the last pieces now. Do you have a wiring diagram? I never know where to send my electrons.
Unfortunately we do not (electrons are also not our area of expertise) we simple wired the the battery to the led then added the switch on the positive wire. Hope that is helpful, best of luck!
Resin for the hammer head... How'd it hold up? Sturdy enough?
How does the counter weight work? What did you put in it
I would probably use the same resin for seams inside
Worked perfectly for us! We also find it is slightly flexible which makes things more durable.
@@make432 Awesome 👍 I will try this method very soon as well 😉

What is that spray you use after putting on the crazy glue?
This is an activator that instant cures the glue!
Any way you can show your settings and orientation for the resin prints?
We will look into showing the orientation of this project and make sure to include in future videos!
Did you need supports on the main hammer? I'm getting some issues with the cracks.
Yes! We printed ours in two parts on our Anycubic Photo Mono X - We did the auto supports and then added some manual in key spots to make sure everything was secure.

I would like to print the main part on an FDM printer. Would it need support because of the cracks or could I just print it without any support?
Yes, you will need to use supports for FDM for the best results!

I'm currently printing the handle on my prusa mini I ended up cutting the stl before slicing in prusa slicer to fit the build height
Yes we ended up just clipping the top off slightly - it did not seem to effect the overall strength and fit of the parts.
I did the same with my handle tip. I super glued it after printing. This video tutorial is one of the best I’ve ever seen! Great job!

Full Hammer head - is 9.75"x6"x6"
the handle parts are split into smaller pieces and should fit your M3
What did you use for a counter weight?
We actually forgot to put the counterweight in before we sealed it up. But the plan was to use sand secure with a cap of hot glue!
Nice work, step by step.

I doubt ill get a response! but how long do you normally wait between paint coats, let primer dry/cure then paint
We usually let primer cure for 4-6 hours for final colors we usually let the paint dry/cure for 24 hours between each coat just to be extra safe!
@@make432 Thank you so much! It really helps!!

@@make432 thanks. Yeah I think I checked the print time for tree support and it was a lot longer.
can this project be done on an elegoo mars 2 pro?
Sure! You will probably just have to slice the parts into smaller pieces to fit the build area.
The led is white or Blue?
The led is blue - we used these for our build amzn.to/3bi1JPv
