Love that hubby is your cameraman!!! The updates are so smart even for a weekend home . When all is said and done this house will be so efficient and lived in..Thanks to your smart designs!!! Love you Sarah!!!!
Love seeing the updates on the chalet. It is more satisfying for me to see the changes going into place and then seeing the finished work. It gives me ideas for things I would like to update in my house. Also glad you are showing the problems you are running into and not over dramatizing them. Any remodeling I have done has always come up with problems that I didn't know were there until demolition opened them up. I dislike TV shows that have the fairy tale remodels and then the reality of mold and old electrical wiring suddenly causes major problems. Finally, even with carte blanche you are being practical in fixing this chalet up for this family. This update on the Contemporary Chalet was just what I needed on a cold rainy weekend.
Thanks so much for your wonderful feedback! I love to share my Design Life with you, and that means the good, the bad, and the surprising renovation revelations!
I love these updates, it shows the decisions made along the way and why. You are so right about the double sink, so rarely used by more than one person anyway 👍
Great episode Sarah - love the direction you took in this short video. Getting rid of the the floor heating that blows up the drapery panels very smart. Covering the textured ceiling with panels -is that T111 - I used it inside in renovations before but only on the wall - love that! Losing the one sink - such a great call! I always think it’s a cleaner look and creates the optical illusion of a larger vanity. Brilliant shelf idea for shelf in shower. Really looking forward to how you to your magic on those tile floors.
It's going to be fabulous!!! Thanks for keeping us up to date Sarah - love watching the progress of your projects. The amount of light is so different to when you first went in there - amazing. Cheers, Deb T (NZ)
Love the changes, but please consider using Roxul Safe’n’Sound instead of pink fibreglass for sound attenuation in your next reno. I have no ties to Roxul, but we’ve used their products extensively in our renovations and highly recommend them.
Everything you do is magic! I've been watching you since your do-it-yourself T.V. show in the early days of HGTV. You have just become more creative and more beautiful since then! Wish you could let us know the brand of the clever LED potlights. Much admiration!
Love those LED pot lights. Wish we could replace all ours with those. Plus you didn't mention how loooooong life LEDs are. It's a pain changing lights in the ceiling any time, but it's nice if you don't have to do it for literally years. Completely agree with going with just one sink. I'd rather have the counter space. Oh, and trivial question...does that zipper on your jacket sleeve go with a pocket, or is it just decorative? Heh, I voted 'keep' on the saltillo tiles. Winner!!!
I really like to see the progress reports and the issues that you run into when you open up the walls. Thank you for this series of videos. They are the best!!
The vintage tile will look great! Good call on keeping it, IMO. Grout needs a bit of cleaning, but no big deal. Love the idea of pot lights. Your work is outstanding, Sarah!
Love seeing all the progress and even the issues you run into. It’s all interesting and helpful for anyone going through a renovation. As far as the toilet paper by the utility room sink... I’m going with someone on the crew has a cold and forgot their box of tissues! 🤧 Otherwise, I don’t even want to think of why it is there. 😟😧😲
Sarah could please give some more information about the gas power rads. Which company did you go with, I have electric baseboard heating and would to switch to this method. Thank you.
Sarah.... so not nice to leave us hanging at the end like that !!!! LOL!!! Don’t end with a WOW and it looks so much bigger.... LOL!! We are woman who need to know...! It is looking fabulous! Love the heating change... they will certainly thank you later ! I agree ONE SINK in the small bathroom! We had two...which was great for 4 kids getting ready for school. But little by little we moved out! Then you have wasted space and 2 SINKS TO CLEAN for what.....? Because it is there ....! Ugh! One is great! HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL '. I know you are in Canada and your Thanksgiving was a couple of weeks ago ??? I think ??? Anyways ! 👍
Don't worry, part 2 of the progress update is coming soon! And thank you for the kind words and well wishes - and yes, our Thanksgiving was in October!
I understand the tile dilemma. Have you ever tried to seal existing tile with a top coat of paint or high traffic coating? Was it successful and a durable transformation? If Sarah doesn’t answer, can anyone?

I can’t wait for the next video to show more progress!
Stay tuned, it's coming soon!
Excited for a new episode. Very smart to save the money instead of an extra unused sink in the small space. Can't wait to see more!
Thanks Gayla, agreed! I can't wait to share more with you!
"Change order!" 🤣 You are the BEST, Sarah Richardson!
It's amazing how much good lighting can make all the difference in a space!
Right? I can't believe it sometimes!
I’ve been checking everyday for a new video. Yeah! A new one. Yes, shower needs light.
Have a great weekend Alex and Sarah. ❤️
Thanks so much Jo! We've got more progress updates coming your way.

Thanks for your feedback Trish! :)
Trish Diggins me too😊

That's so great to hear Elise! I'm excited to continue sharing my Design Life with you!
The changes are fantastic!
Thanks, Christine!
I like one sink. My husband and I never get ready at the same time and storage is a huge issue. We don't have a linen closet.
SUCCESS!!!!! Loving it!!!
Woah lighting is everything!!!!! And those pot lights brava !!! Could you link them plz!!!
Thanks!! They will be linked in our source guides at the end of the project!

I'm so happy to hear that this is helpful for others undertaking a renovation! I can't wait to share more updates with you!
Sarah can the Spanish tile be painted?
Good question! Stay tuned to find out!
This girl brain runs 24houres a day love it.💕 is staring to loke fantastic.😊
Sarah could please give some more information about the gas power rads. Which company did you go with, I have electric baseboard heating and would to switch to this method. Thank you.
Thanks for asking, Debbie! We'll have all of the companies we worked with linked in our source guides at the end of the project!
Is rigid vinyl plank floating floor a future option to go over the Spanish tile?
I like the LED lights. Would love for you to talk about lumens - I’m so baffled when purchasing LED lighting.
Thanks for asking! I'll keep that in mind for future videos.

Can't wayt for the final results is so exciting 🍷🍷🍷

Hi! What is the reference for the slim pod light used in this episod?
I’ve looked everywhere and cannot find what you did with the loft.
I understand the tile dilemma. Have you ever tried to seal existing tile with a top coat of paint or high traffic coating? Was it successful and a durable transformation? If Sarah doesn’t answer, can anyone?
you were walking out of a room [potentially a craft room] into a hall with a shower / vanity ?
What’s the product name for the lights you mentioned?
Stay tuned for more information in our source guide at the end of the project!
What about moving the stairs for more living space??
Budget issue, I'm guessing.
There's a part 2 to our progress report, coming soon!
Source for low profile pot light? (Please and thank you!)
I'll have the sources linked in the project source guide!
Yay! I was one of the minority voters for keeping that Spanish tile!
