The older I get, the more I find simple things make me cry. Take the simple facts of life and mix them with an amazing ballad through the eyes of a parent about their kid and I don't stand a chance. I am glad Amazon Music took me down a rabbit hole that brought me to this song. Well written, well performed...thank you!
This was the song I picked for day of my Dad's service..He passed December 26,2020 from covid. It helped me let him go.I could hear him saying these words to me..❤
My son is 42 and a father now. I was single parent from 4th grade on. So many of your songs go straight to the heart. Family, love ,life and so much more. Though we usually catch up daily in short calls ( he lives out of state now) sometimes, like today, ("Uphill") I will gift him iTunes songs of yours that convey my feelings and love. Thank you Lori 🙏 ❤️
OMG - *sniff* I absolutely love this song. Heard it for the first time recently and one of those songs that I would love to do for my daughter but don't think I would be able to do it without getting choked up. Isn't that how a song is supposed to impact you? WOW.
I have been raising my son on my own since he was 4- now he’s 18 and about to graduate HS....This song brought tears to my eyes that came rushing out like never before. I’m just glad I never took our time for granted.
When I don't play this off the CD in the car - or MP3 on my computer - or RUclips at work - this ear-worm is stuck in my head.. God's gift to America - is Your Lori.. Thank You.. (UpHill is stuck there too).
What I think is different about this song - Lori is deferential to her child. She does not assume to know how that child sees and feels about the world around them. Instead, she politely offers: “When I was your age, I didn’t worry like I think you do.” Brilliant! She is inviting a discussion rather than dictating the conversation to her child. ❤
Thank you Lori, Liz & Hillary. And a special thank you to Lori for this beautiful recording, looking right at us. The connection is warming. And I love the official release too-thank you ladies for your emotion, not enough of it in these times when we are trying to protect ourselves and our loved ones.
I'm a man & she makes me cry. Not sure how to advice my two daughters today. The world has changed so much. I grew up in the 70's & 80's. Everything today seems so cold & strange. All we can do is advice to be better than today's average, be willing to work & save.
When you're my age I hope the world is kinder than it seems to be right now And I hope the front page isn't just a reminder Of how we keep letting each other down When I was your age, things didn't seem to be this hard Riding bikes out on the street, playing tag in the back yard You'll outgrow your shoes You'll outgrow your bed You'll outgrow this house Just don't forget When you're all grown up But you don't feel that way You're still gonna be my baby Even when you're my age When you're my age You'll still be full of questions that I wish I had the answers to right now Those dark times might make you second guess it But I bet love will still be making the world go round When I was your age, I didn't worry like I think you do Back then innocence was something you could hold onto You'll outgrow your shoes You'll outgrow your bed You'll outgrow this house Just don't forget When you're all grown up But you don't feel that way You're still gonna be my baby Even when you're my age When you have kids someday, I hope you teach them the Lord's Prayer Before they go to bed at night Like my daddy did for me and his mother before him Well something about it just keeps you right And I hope you don't work too much overtime So you can be right there beside them when they close their little eyes Cause they'll outgrow their shoes They'll outgrow their beds They'll outgrow that house And you can't stop it Life will line your face Time will turn the page But they're still gonna be your babies Just like you're still gonna be my baby Even when you're my age Even when you're my age

When you're my age
I hope the world is kinder than it seems to be right now
And I hope the front page isn't just a reminder
Of how we keep letting each other down
When I was your age, things didn't seem to be this hard
Riding bikes out on the street, playing tag in the back yard
You'll outgrow your shoes
You'll outgrow your bed
You'll outgrow this house
Just don't forget
When you're all grown up
But you don't feel that way
You're still gonna be my baby
Even when you're my age
When you're my age
You'll still be full of questions that I wish I had the answers to right now
Those dark times might make you second guess it
But I bet love will still be making the world go round
When I was your age, I didn't worry like I think you do
Back then innocence was something you could hold onto
You'll outgrow your shoes
You'll outgrow your bed
You'll outgrow this house
Just don't forget
When you're all grown up
But you don't feel that way
You're still gonna be my baby
Even when you're my age
When you have kids someday, I hope you teach them the Lord's Prayer
Before they go to bed at night
Like my daddy did for me and his mother before him
Well something about it just keeps you right
And I hope you don't work too much overtime
So you can be right there beside them when they close their little eyes
Cause they'll outgrow their shoes
They'll outgrow their beds
They'll outgrow that house
And you can't stop it
Life will line your face
Time will turn the page
But they're still gonna be your babies
Just like you're still gonna be my baby
Even when you're my age
Even when you're my age
Love this song. I hope to see you with our friend John sitting behind the drum kit.
500th like right here.
I wish you make a Billion Dollars off this song - it's one of your Best Ever..
Wow
Where do I get piano sheet music for this song? Not just chords, but sheet. Thanks!
Still guessing which artist will make this a chart topping number one.
Please don’t let anyone cover this song
