  • My 3-car wedge driver needs to get booked to pick up in Ohio / Pennsylvania. Since he has four days before he needs to be home, I found a profitable route to Birmingham AL. Join me for the Route Scout and the booking while I dispatch.
    This video can help Car Haulers and Dispatchers use the Search Vehicles function on Central Dispatch to Find & Book Loads plus recommended best practices of Route Scouting and a brief look at two other major Car Shipping Load Boards: Ready Auto Transport "1Dispatch" ( carrierbeta.rat... ) and the CarsArrive Network ( www.carsarrive... ).
    #carhaulingdispatcher #autotransportintel #centraldispatchloadboard
    "Car Hauling Dispatcher" features a veteran auto transport dispatcher load searching, booking cars, and dispatching for current working owner-operators while managing and documenting real-life auto transport industry life cycle logistics. For more info please read my blog post "Auto Transport Load Board List for Car Haulers".
    "Somewhere…each day, thousands of auto transport company owners, fleet managers, drivers, dispatchers (and sometimes family members) are searching the internet for new loads to book. Car hauling businesses feel the pain of having empty spaces on their trailers - because they cannot afford to haul cheap freight! With a long list of expenses swirling around in their minds as they drive, it’s the car haulers that end up losing sleep at the end of a very long work day - still searching for a better auto transport load board.
    Like it or not, Central Dispatch is not only the most expensive auto transport load board, but it remains to be the biggest and most comprehensive load board for car haulers in the United States. I truly wish it wasn’t so expensive (plus I prefer the ‘Old Look’) but it’s clearly the largest auto transport marketplace to be found anywhere; and therefore, it’s the best place to meet all the other auto brokers and car carriers, to book new loads for transport, and to learn how to fine tune your search for better-paying loads in the future. [For tips and best practices (and car hauler feedback), please read my recent article: “How To Use Central Dispatch: Tips From A Load Sniper.”] Central Dispatch (centraldispatch.com) is much like an enormous convention center, containing everyone from mom-and-pop shops to nationwide trucking behemoths, allowing you to find hundreds of loads at any given time. Remember: this is where you can learn to navigate and negotiate and make mistakes without critically injuring your car hauling business. Since brokers and carriers on Central Dispatch come and go year after year, this is the auto transport load board where you can meet nearly every other car shipper and auto transport broker operating today. Once you have graduated from a steep learning curve, only then are you really ready for the next level of load board/broker-carrier relationship.
    Ready Auto Transport (ratloads.com) and CarsArrive Network (carsarrive.com) are easily the second and third largest auto transport load boards in existence today. Their car shipping load boards not only allow car haulers to book cars online without ever having to make a phone call, but their loads are quite reliable when it comes to being ready, and usually, the carrier pay is at a reasonable market value. These two companies are also very respected within the industry and that’s why all carriers are required to complete a lengthy packet in order to qualify and meet their business requirements. Once approved, simply log in with your new username and password. Note: It is highly advised that a transporter checks these load boards frequently to avoid missing the best paying loads.
    United Road (URautoloads.com) also posts many of its brokered loads online. Since they are a carrier and a broker, they have their own drivers on the road - who may or may not be in competition with your car hauling business. However, since they are the largest broker/carrier in the nation, you should become a member of theirs and consider them as an additional source to fill empty spots on your trailer.
    After the top three or four, there are unfortunately only about a handful of other load boards worth actually checking. This is because the volume of inventory of nearly everyone else is either too small to watch all day or the effort required to find an occasional good load is often greater than the reward of discovery (which is why nearly all brokers post on Central Dispatch - in addition to their own website). However, some of these specialize in regions and/or clients - while others specialize in a type of pickup location, such as rail head, port, and/or manufacturing plant. Overall, based on your carrier size and physical location, it may well be worth searching regularly if you have a specific route."

    Jesus by the time you were thinking why that car pays $650 there was a good chance to lose it. Good load go very fast. What i do with carsarrrive is just book the load, choose pick and drop dates and then you get all info. Call the dealership, find out if they got the car and if it runs and then you know if its good or not . Broker will always tell you what they got on a paper and thats not 100% true all the time. Also someone like Montway will say its good to go and keep the stop, then they wouldnt call you back and that is a problem with a lot of brokers. Also you booked 3 cars with 1 to be dropped in a middle of the final destination. You should consider time when it's gonna be dropped. Let's say your driver will be running to TN and should be around 7pm for the drop. Dealership closes at 6pm so he has to wait till tomorrow to drop if they wont allow nightdrop. IF the the could drive until 10pm that means he loses 4hours od driving and that is a lot. If yo uare getting $1.5 a mile or so for the load you may lose 200miles or more so $300 just for waiting... (that is just possible scenario, maybe dealership is open till 9pm and you good - just a time of the day to consider)
    I dont know if you consider things like that, but i know that waiting is a killer in this business because payments for truck, trailer, insurance etc are huge.

      I LOVE THIS COMMENT! Yes, I agree. You have to jump on a good load right away. Part of the reason I showed this process was because it's definitely something that happens mentally to all of us - especially smart dispatchers that don't want to book something terrible for their driver. But you're right, if you want to make money, you have to be quick. Great call, abudabis911! And thanks for watching.

    Great videos! Very informative. I just started watching them yesterday. Yes, I am looking to get into car hauling. I am in he early stages of this possible venture. No, not full time at this time. Why not full time? I already have a full time job.
    My partner and I are looking to get into this side of the transportation business to get established and down the road hopefully turn into a full time career, if we decide to pursue it.
    I am looking at all aspects of car hauling, The transporter, dispatch, broker and everything else to see where we go from here. Thanks.

    Hey Jay, the reason that vehicle was paying that amount is that CarsArrives charges their customers about 25% to 40% above average prices. I have auction access so I can see their quoted prices.
    Great info BTW.

      Thanks for the comment and the information! And you know you've got a strong business model going if you can secure that type of profit margin and markup from your customers. We could all learn from CarsArrive on this one - as many brokers already have.

    • @alejocristancho
      @alejocristancho 5 лет назад +2

      better to do that and secure a Driver easily than to underquote then have go call back customer to ask for more money... so you'll make the customer upset and also drivers won't take you seriously...

    • @ATIAutoBusiness
      @ATIAutoBusiness  5 лет назад +1

      It's unfortunate when I really don't think I'm asking for anything unreasonable, the broker says they have to call the customer back (which forces the negotiation to go sideways and take too long) and then in the end they have to raise the price to get it moved after all. So irritating.

      Some states have a total gross length limit of 65' or less. Also their is another rule that you can't exceed 1000lbs per foot. So keep it under 53' and you'd be ok. Call your local trailer dealer and ask them questions. Everyone I've talk to have shared great information on how to avoid any risk with length, weight, and regulations

    • @Tythetransportguy
      @Tythetransportguy 4 года назад +1

      More is always better, from a money perspective. More is not always better from a safety perspective. More is not always better for your truck.
      I would not feel safe hauling 6 behind a 5500 (that’s just me though). Mostly depends on how much money you have saved.
      Saved for starting a new company.
      Most people probably forget to mention when starting a new company you typically DO NOT make a profit your first year.
      So my advice is have 6 months cash stashed, then worry about a trailer.
      If you have cash stashed.
      My next question is who is your customer?

    • @Tythetransportguy
      @Tythetransportguy 4 года назад +2

      Everyone has their own opinion. Some guys say they use 4x4 all the time and are happy they have it.
      The next guy will say he’s never had 4x4 and is happy he doesn’t have it.
      The debate usually ends up going to fuel economy and it goes the same way.
      The other opinion is “I don’t run in bad weather”.
      So what is the answer...? Pick one and roll. If you build a lane and get your own customers and want to build a fleet you should be out of a 4x4 or 4x2 in under a year.

    Let me tell you some reasons why Ford Edge Laying $650 because I’m tired of you asking mate.
    First of all, nobody likes picking up cars from Pittsburgh area, because it terrible to drive around there. Second, Greenville is not the most convenient location to drop off a car , not a lot of people pass there at a reasonable hour. And finally , most likely that vehicle was booked 2 days ago for regular price which was probably like $400 and it was cancelled. So now they gotta hurry up and get someone to book it that’s why they raise the price . Btw , don’t take this personally but , your internet is too slow for this, and you must have click to call if you want the freshest loads.

    Do you need a Cdl to haul cars

    • @ATIAutoBusiness
      @ATIAutoBusiness  5 лет назад

      Technically, no. But without a CDL, you'll find GVWR constraints holding you back from hauling more profitable loads. To learn more, click here: www.fmcsa.dot.gov/registration/commercial-drivers-license/drivers

      Like Auto Transport said, if you don’t have a CDL you are holding yourself back....

    Why do enclosed trailers make more money ?

    • @ATIAutoBusiness
      @ATIAutoBusiness  5 лет назад

      Enclosed Trailers tend to haul higher value and exotic cars (which by their very nature cost more) as well as motorcycles and other custom vehicles that require more care and need to be protected from the external elements of road travel. However, the volume of the enclosed car shipping market is much smaller than open (because it is more expensive) so starting out as an enclosed carrier could be very challenging without personally knowing some car collectors or people that show cars. In addition, the owner of an enclosed carrier needs to be very comfortable at hauling because transporting a million-dollar car is not for everyone.

      Thanks for the question, Alex. Are you a Carrier, Dispatcher or Broker?

      @alexbaklamov3031 5 лет назад

      I am a dispatcher and run my own small company. I load from WA area to FL and my Owner Operator will run snowbirds in fall and spring seasons. I left a question on one of your videos because I'm looking to expand and don't know how to go about finding carriers that are looking for dispatching services.

    Do you need a class A for a 3 car wedge?

    • @ATIAutoBusiness
      @ATIAutoBusiness  6 лет назад

      Not exactly. But here is the answer you're looking for: Drivers Who Must Obtain a CDLA CDL must be obtained by the driver of any of the following vehicles:Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.For more info, visit: www.truckingtruth.com/cdl-training-program/page1/who-is-required-to-get-a-cdl

      If you buy an take 3 ultra light 3 car wedge its factory rating if chosen can be 12k GVWR you can mix that with a Dodge Ram 3500 Tradesman and be well under your GVWR. Mind you that if you put a duelly which its gross curb weight is roughly 9to11k lbs and then add a heavy car you could exceed your limit of 26,001. Best advice is to take your truck and trailer with tools and whatever else you need. Fill fuel tank and def to max and weight it. It will give you an accurate rating on how much weight you have left over. If you exceed the 26,001 you are playing Russian roulette with DOT officees. Some do not play games.
