  • At least one person has died and more than 2 million are without electricity after Beryl made landfall in Texas. I live just outside of Houston, its currently 5:32 pm and the storm has subsided. The problem is no longer the Storm, its the lack of power and the rising Temps. There is a lot of fallen trees and debris, but the flooding has mostly subsided and I haven't seen any rain since this morning. Seemingly not too bad for those wondering

      It is an issue with the Texas grid because all others are connected so when some area loses power, others fill in the gaps. Texas' disconnected lone grid doesn't get help because Texas governor doesn't want it to. They've invited us to join the grid. Blame Abbott.

    • @UmmYeahOk
      @UmmYeahOk 12 дней назад

      @@vivianatrevino6212actually, blame Rick Perry. We had an ice storm in 2011 that should have been enough to want to protect the grid from another ice storm. Abbott was the attorney general, so it’s not like he wasn’t aware of the issues. You could also blame George W Bush because that’s when Texas electricity was deregulated. You could also blame the actual hurricane itself, since even in blue states, when those hit, they lose power. …it’s just not for long. Couple days. Right now, it’s not about generating enough electricity, like what happened in 2021. The problem is actually about getting power to those homes with down lines.
      So really, I blame the storm for the downed lines. I blame republican officials for 2021.

    People purchase a generator for your home. If you can afford expensive rims , cigarettes,drugs,alcohol and non essential you can afford a 10k generator to maintain a home. Renters I understand your situation but homeowners should be better equipped for any emergencies. Think people 🇺🇸

    • @silvernblack21
      @silvernblack21 12 дней назад +2

      We rent and have one. It's not hooked up to the house, but it's keeping the fridge cold & running fans, chargers & small devices. We were able to pay cash, but we also didn't suffer economically over the last few years like many have. So I empathize and don't automatically assume most are mismanaging money rather than truly not being able to afford to prepare.

      Are you talking about California and all the fires they have every year, or the mudslides on their coast? Or Louisiana, that gets hammered by more hurricanes than Texas does, even though their coastline is half the length? Here's a newsflash for you: A lot of Texas cities don't trust FEMA to do anything. We do it ourselves. Thanks for your concern for human beings, even if they live in a state you seem to hate.

      Well, at least Texas actually gets less in federal aid than they pay in. It's the only red state that actually contributes something to the treasury. All the other red states are taker welfare cases.

      Well... guess that goes for any state as well. No more federal aid for Union States period. If they want help, they can pay their own way. Now that's unity! Go America!

    I love how americans always exaggerate everything. Cat 1 hurricanes are pretty common in Europe. we don't barricade everything because our buildings are in general better built (Mostly just rooftiles flying off and some trees), heavy rain as well but it is like 1 day media report in daily evening news, that's it.

      Where do hurricanes form in Europe?

      I’m not a meteorologist but I am pretty sure you can’t directly compare hurricanes in Europe to North America. I would guess, although homes are timber construction in the US, hurricanes carry far more moisture in North America than in Europe with the Mediterranean climate.

      @ceasetheday87 out of curiosity I searched for hurricanes in Europe and there have been 2 in recent years. One in 2005 and in 2020. I literally have no idea what he is talking about. I love how Europeans always try to compare themselves to the USA
