I trust that you are doing well. In this video I have listed the amount of things that were a shock to my family and I when we landed in South Africa. I am sure that some of these things are normal to us now. I hope that you will enjoy the video.
Hey YT fam. As stated at the beginning of the video. These were the things that shocked me when I got to SA. But my perception has changed as I encountered a lot of South Africans from different backgrounds. I love my South African people so much
Can you imagine going to DRC and wondering where the South African food is at? 😂😂😂😂. Different environments grow different foods.

I'm suprised also. And it's unfortunate that they couldn't go to shops to buy vegetables and other things so they can eat those varieties. Shame the sister wanted to find mini Congo in SA. SA was colonized and in schools we were never taught of African countries, that's why the people you met didn't know there are African countries who speak French,we were colonized by the British,possibly you learned that at school.
Sister as South African we believe Africans speak their mother's language not like French.
I feel like in regards to the way people responded to you speaking French, it's because us as South Africans prefer using our tribal languages. English is used as a bridge to communicate if people don't understand each others tribal laguages

You have to unlearn my sister, the way you do things in Congo is not necessary gonna be seen as right everywhere else. I have Congolese friends and they are almost South African now the way they've accepted our way of life, though they're never forced ditch their own
Yes. there are things that I had to unlearn over time. In fact, I am more South African now in my thinking than Congolese, which can be a concern at times.
I dont know which SA you live in. K8ds dont speak to their kids anyhow here

Coloureds are doing that but not most.
South Africa and DRC almost share the same like language I am a South African I visited DRC .I can speak lingala where you find some of the words you find in our languages
eg - water-mayi-manzi
-zulu-manzi-lingala_ mayi
Rain -mvula- same both languages
Women-zulu-mfazi-tswana -mosadi-lingala-mowazi
Child-ngwana or bana that is lingala and tswana❤
Every country has got its own variety of food, based on climatic conditions and preferences. When you move to a new country, there ahould be a ahift in mindset because people are not the same, even in africa. I live in a foreign country and i eat what they eat, I don't expect to find boerewors here.
Yall just so obsessed about SA. Funny enough no SAn RUclipsr do culture shock because we mind our own business and in our country. I mean like we are all different. There are many countries near Congo you could go to. I love my country and my people. Please 🙏.

Interesting reviews... I'm South African and have been taught about history of various parts of Africa and currently staying in NZ where there's a lot of black South African professionals, I also know some in Australia, UK and USA. Depends on the people you come across I guess. There is a lot of culture and traditional belief systems that you still have an opportunity to explore in SA. Enjoy sister and you are definitely welcome in SA ... history says Bantu people in the South came from DRC, East Africa and up North so, we are one...🇿🇦🇨🇩👊🏿

Every country have their own culture shocked because u are not familiar with their culture
1. People from other African countries think migrating is traveling. South Africans do travel.

Yes there are many that work as doctors and some in the mining industry. I am sure they also have a lot to say😂😂😂
Most Parents don't allow their children to date young in SA, or don't endorse it, but kids do it anyway mostly behind their parents backs. It's not a norm for children to shout at their parents in SA,it's not part of our culture😂. Traditional healers have nothing to do with constitution or even politics and law making 😂. We learn at school about important events in different countries, not about a specific country and what they speak in terms of languages, the are so many countries in the world how is that even possible 😂,I'm sure only thing you learned about SA in Congo is apartheid,not our official languages😂...The is so many different foods in SA stores, I don't know why you had to eat same thing all the time😂. Pap without salt is weird to me too😂.These are Negative "culture" shocks 😂👍!

Curious question..do you only speak French? And not any lingala, swahili or tshiluba?....thing is in the UK people would respond the same. I've had the same. I'm a British Congolese and the story of colonisation in Africa isn't taught in public schools in the UK and even geography to a fair degree.
Heya 😊. Yes I do speak Swahili and lingala. Tshiluba not so much. Its amazing how our country teaches us about other countries. Its as if the history of our country is selectively taught. Thanks for watching😊

Hi dear.... Thanks for your questions and concerns. I was giving you this video as my realest reaction @12 yrs old when I arrived. My experience has changed over the years. As for Congolese who fight in churches(those are thugs) and those who go home in December are playing with fire and one day they will get caught. Many people do get caught. As Assylum seekers we all are not in the same situation. Some of us know how much it takes to live in this country and we respect that. other than that thanks for watching

Your family loves in Congo and they are doing well whereas there are some people sleeping on empty stomachs. Thats the irony of life😢. You lived in the wrong part of south africa. You probably lived in town, that is not representative of south Africa.
