Bought this when it came out and it's my baby love, oh man she is excellent.
I just got mine. I compared so many boards but it just seems like for the price, if you're a mainly piano player that also wants to mess around with cool sounds sometimes or have layered sounds, this is the one! Beautiful playing, especially like the part on Nice Piano, feels like a big hug. :) 0:28 - 0:38

dang i just love those roland pianos, there's really something about them. I've been playing various yamahas since i was 19 and i got somehow tired of their samples. i also have fantom xr which the juno sound reminds me of. bardzo dobrze! :)

I would def recommend this as a first keyboard (or pro keyboard for that matter) The DS88 has 88 weighted keys for that piano feel and the DS61 has the synth action key bed depending on which one you're looking for. You really can't beat it for the price. Excellent sounding board. I really think this keyboard is highly underrated.
You will need an amp or headphones and no it does not include a sustain pedal.
Yes you can plug your headphones directly into the keyboard.

and yes, 8 months on the sound that is called classical piano....or something quite like it,,,,,,,,,,makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

thanks for this, as someone else said, very straighforward without the chatter a lot of these videos have. my only complaint is too much time was spent on "spacey" sounds and almost none on real instruments other than piano and organ, like the guitar, violin, sax etc.....basically none on percussion either. I'm very interested to see and hear what can be done with them, esp in combo. a follow-up w/that would be great if possible

I recently purchased a DS88 and agree with you. I love it, but I wish they put more emphasis on the acoustic instruments and envelope editing. I am still having trouble finding how to control the sustain of the instrument. Love the expansion packs though

I might've gotten this model, if I hadn't already gotten another battery synthesizer, the VR-09.
I like the "E. Grand" piano preset better than the one on my keyboard that says "SA Piano".
Does anyone know if the phrase pads can be programmed to trigger individual drum sounds instead of loops?
I wish there was a list of the patches he was using here. Totally beautiful

I love the Piano sounds on the DS - just so beautiful. Some of the layered Pianos and EPs are so great sounding that you can do an entire song in a live set with no other patches. What a shame I had to return mine :-(( I really need to have the Backing Tracks play through a separate output so that we can mix for stage monitors and front of the house on the fly. Can't do it on the DS :-(( So I returned it and got the FA 07 - which is also a stellar machine. But many of the patches that make the DS so great are completely missing from the FA. I would have to re-build them myself. What a shame.

Great - you are demonstrating some of the best sound scapes in this keyboard - love the spacey sounds . . . but what are they ??? a small inset video of the sounds you are playing would be very beneficial - i have this keyboard and have yet to find many of the great keyboard sounds you out in the first 5 mins of the video . . .Inset video of the patches please !

That's the way demos should sound. Straight forward. I had a Juno 106 (sorry I got rid of it) and this is a way improvement over the last series.
Dude how could you sell a 106? Thats one of the best synths ever made!

How does this compare to the roland fp30?. Are the piano sounds and keybed similar?. I was looking at getting the fp30 but for a few hundred dollars extra I can have a lot more sounds and functions.
Great video with an excellent quality! I am actually looking for an affordable keyboard for the stage. I need it in addition to my guitar, so it is not my no. 1 instrument. Would you prefer the Roland Juno DS 61, the Korg Kross 61 or the Yamaha MX61 V2? Thanks in advance! I heard, the piano of the korg is not that good than the yamaha or roland...

Since I'm mainly a guitar player I'm thinking that this would be a better deal for me to do great sounding piano practicing AND letting loose with dabbling in synthesizer sound composition like what Steven Roach, Emerson Lake and Palmer does. What you you other 'guitar players' think....... this or the more piano oriented Roland RD-88 ?

Does the DS88 have exactly the same Keybed as the Fantom 8? and is it worth selling my old Fantom X8 to buy the DS88?
Fantom X8 is probably MUCH BETTER than the DS88.
Great video. I was looking exactly for the electric piano sounds you demonstrate perfectly. I played it yesterday at Sam Ash. I had never heard of it. I had looked at MOXF and the Krome, but really like the feel of this one. For $699 retail it looks like the perfect gigging keyboard (I play in a wedding band, and have been shlepping around a Roland RD-300SZ for 5 years. It's 88 keys and weighs a ton. Any thoughts before i make the move, anyone?
+Fernando Charith Thanks for the response. For weddings I really need a lot of keyboard sounds. Grand, Rhodes, ping-y electric, organ. I also need to have drums. I also need the ability to combine sounds like strings and electric piano. As well as some synth sounds..like a fat OBX kind of sound. What do you suggest? Money is a major issue, but not at the expense of quality. What do you think?

+Doug Winters Music I was about to answer the "why not an FA 08" with gee how about it costs twice as much? This is not far off from the 08, and in fact I like the keypad better (subjective obviously)...the 08 key's are actually a bit TOO heavy and have too much "pop." The 06 costs the same but not only are there only 61 keys, it has the "cheap" lightweight keys. I am looking at this and the Korg Kross, who's keypad I like even better, but composing/recording is my main interest and I'm gathering the Kross less user friendly...

The MOXF objectively has better acoustic sounds though but it's expensive

did you use the stereo output from the synth? if you used mono its sound quality is worse

O segredo Mano é ter um cabo Y e um cubo de qualidade ou monitores de áudio....no meu caso tenho um cubo meteoro nk30 que uso com o cabo Y e tenho um monitor edifier o qual uso os cabos L e R ....e fone uso um da marca dreams muito bom e que não custou tão caro quanto os da koss....evite compra fone xingu linght!!!!
