  • This is how I ground my shortwave receivers, and antennas. I've had it this way for over 3 decades.

    Very good grounding there. I agree with you, grounding seems to be a touchy subject. You certainly did your homework. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this subject. Have a great day.

    I use a 3/4" copper pipe 8''long Hydro drilled into the ground with a 1" wide ground strap less than 6' long for my station ground. It works !!! You may do what you wish for a station ground, but this is my minimum ground to get rid of static, and both noise and electromagnetic interferences. Each vertical antenna has a similar grounding stake, while horizontal antennas float above ground except at the station ground. This has worked for me for over 40 years as a Ham operator.

    Nice video, Thank-you! One note on ground rods though, too close to house. Why? Ground is too dry to be an effective ground. Backfill around houses is also usually poor soil. Solution is to increase distance from house, or regularly water the area around the ground rods. I know this from industrial applications. Keep up the good work!

    Wonderful to hear your thoughts concerning grounding, how you do it is interesting. As I understand it grounding is important when dealing with noise. All the best from seaside in Nova Scotia, Canada.

    It's sad when it gets to where you have to defend the way that you ground your radios. People like to jump on comments and argue for some reason. I had a post about my antenna and had three people want to argue about how wrong I was. Everyone's needs are different. Good job.

      I know your right. It's sad that some out there just can't let something go, or enjoy anything without feeling the need to try and disprove, or put one down even though it works or performs as it should. I know you watch most of my little videos, and I really appreciate the views. I'm not trying to make money on RUclips, or have a big channel, I just hope some find something helpful, or interesting enough to kill a little time watching. Just trying to keep the old technology of radio LOL. And hopefully someone will stumble across one and discover shortwave listening. 🙂

    @The Solitary Radio Listener:
    I don't see your Icom R-8600 that you used to have. Did you sell it? If so, was it because of any faults? Thanks!

      Oh no I still have my Icom 8600. It works and looks just like new. I done another video revisiting my shack and you can see it. ruclips.net/video/FWCsFszgLRY/видео.html
