Thanks Robert, you’ve given me enough courage to have a go at probably destroying my relay!😊

Robert, Thanks for posting this video. I have a 1986 Pontiac Grand Prix. My power door locks stopped working. I purchased 2 new switches for $11 from Amazon and installed them and they did not work. A Gbody Garage FB page suggested the problem maybe a bad relay. I located and took the relay out. My local parts supplier can not get the relay and they have NOS posted on e bay for $125! I am going to try your suggestion and see if it helps. The part is metal and sealed but to save $125 I'll try opening it somehow. I'll let you know what happens.

Robert, Nope the rebuild didn't wor. I opened her up and there were minimal soldered joints and no circuit board. I sand papered the contacts, resweated a few connections and plugged it in and it did not work. Guess I'll have to spring for the $125!

This works sometimes: bang on relay. I had a horn relay that would not work. So I disconnected battery. Tugged, poked, whacked and shook relay. Would not come out. Read it had to be replaced with whole relay tray, or cut out. Hooked up battery to call it a night and presto it worked. I guess it was just stuck with a little corrosion. If does it again I'll drill 3 tiny holes in the top and spray silicone spray into relay to possibly fix corrosion issue for long time.

The problem with electronics is the manufacturers use the solder to hold the part in, its not designed to do that job, solder is just for a connection, if they screwed the part down before soldering it,it would not crack the solder so easy.
Also the holes in the pcb are too big, so you end up with a pin in the center of a hole with a thin drum skin of solder connecting it to the board, not clever.
I used to work in a factory repairing auto modules, but you know that lol.
