    People dont realize they dont train that way whole time. This is shock system training when Olympics are aprouching and you are in your top form. You cant always train like this because you will burn out

      nope they do this yearround.
      they appeared on a tv show not too long ago. they say they would lose about 4-5 kg every day from each session because it was so intense. they consume around 15,000 calories too. guys like Song Dae Nam ate around 20,000 calories

      The olympics are the sole reason judo deteriorated from a complete grappling martial art to what we have today. Ne-waza is straight-up neglected and discouraged in competitions, and attacking the legs with hands and arms banned, all for casual viewer, who never was interested in the art in the first place, not to be bored. If high-level judo bores You, no problem - go watch sailing, equestrian sports, or downhill, or whatever rich hobby amuses You.
      To IJF: get out of the olympics, disappear, or bring back the complete judo!

      @avwl0 7 лет назад +1

      what would you replace?

    • @edwhlam
      @edwhlam 7 лет назад +2

      We can start with situps with really bad form, the bench press with flared elbows. Situps can be replaced with hanging knee ups any number of more effective ab exercises. The bench press can simply be done with better form, with the elbows tucked so that there is less stress on the shoulder joint. Yes, some their trainers are former metalists, but that doesn't mean they are good trainers. Coaching and competing are different skills.
      Contrast with training videos of major league teams, from the NBA, NFL, NHL. Strength training and conditioning coaches for major league teams are skilled at doing just that, typically are not former super stars in those sports.

      Ed Lam i think you might be mistaking these athletes for body builders. There is no universally correct form. These guys are nowhere near their 1rm and they are probably not training for that either. One of the guys in the vid can deadlift up to three times his body weight. So the weights used in this video, form doesn’t really matter.

    • @computerhoofd
      @computerhoofd 9 лет назад +18

      bochafish Using your opponents force against them (redirecting energy) is emphasized by Aikido, at least, way more than Judo. That's why I mentioned it.
      The reason why Judo is called Judo (the soft path, the gentle way) is because Judo is the softer, safe and sports version of Japanese Ju-Jitsu which involves barehandedly killing an armored opponent/samurai in close combat.
      Judo actually requires a lot of strength to compete with the top level Judo-ka in Olympics. That's why you see these Koreans training their butts off.

      bochafish Yes, a smaller person is able to throw a larger untrained person. But if the larger person is also trained in judo, chances are very small for the smaller person to do a succesfull throw.

      paul reid Nope, I just have an education in Athletic Training. But you might want to take a Dumbass test, given that you're trying to judge me without knowing anything about me. :)
      If you were smart, you would know that you only train, what you plan to progress.
      Lifting weights to progress Judo is a mistake.
      Weight lifting makes you a better weight lifter, which will add only a slight benefit to an activity like Judo. Since Judo is all about angles, leverage, and cardio, clearly weight lifting isn't a smart choice.
      MMA fighters don't lift like this, boxers don't lift like this, but Judo is the exception?

    • @paulreid4700
      @paulreid4700 9 лет назад +2

      How do you know MMA fighters don't lift like that? Have you seen Sage Northcutt lift? Obviously not or you wouldn't be talking the shit that you are. The lifts they are doing are to build explosive power for throws. And to help defend them. Look at Rodolfo Viera working out, Cyborg. So I am smart, shut the fuck up.

    • @ChessGM1
      @ChessGM1 9 лет назад +1

      Olympics? You mean to say it has won a gold medal in certain weights in one or two Olympic games, no? Japan cleaned out house after London and the results have been notable. They won team gold in Russia last year, and have swept almost every international tournament in every weight since 2013, including a recent beating of Korea strong team by Japan's B team. Baker, Sichinoche, Ono, Nagase, Wolf are young and tough.

    • @jammin1881

      +ChessGM1 - True about the original. BUT Korea has a fucking beast Judo team for every Olympics. They are amazing and always produce top players.
      Nothing "complex" or "inferior" in them.

    • @ChessGM1

      Darby: Nobody outside Korea gives a darned about Korean judo. Win or lose the main international players are Russia,Azerbaijan, France and Japan. Korea is the little brother who thinks they are important...hence the complex.of inferiority and overcompensation.
