Im a kiwi and to be honest, its wonderful seeing presumed underdogs beat a world championship team. It only strengthens rugby in countries where it probably isnt the national sport. I take nothing away from Ireland, my hats off to these ladies, they played a fantastic game.
It's weird though, cause my camogie coach in primary was Nora Stapleton who plays for Ireland but my secondary rugby coach played for the all blacks 6 years ago
Inspirational win, ladies! Against champion opposition who were undefeated in this competition, if I recall correctly. Way to believe in yourselves and get 'er done. Hope the men can replicate that next year, if they get the chance.
Bloody he’ll well done the Irish ☘️ they say Irish luck but all I saw was self belief & hard work 😓 which won the game ,(good too see the underdogs rise up )
"Ireland become the first Irish intermational side to ever beat New Zealand in Rugby Union" well, who else would be the first Irish International side to ever beat New Zealand in Rugby Union? France? Well done ladies!
Certainly, and it puts the USA women in position to possibly eliminate NZ from the tournament, but the winner of that match does not entirely control their destiny as England and Canada look better placed with bonus points, and could take the sole 2nd place semi final spot.
wow, its like Ireland have won the world cup with the way things are in Ireland. All of a sudden the rugby world takes notice of womens rugby after this game
TBH all the 6Ns teams are better than the SANZAR teams. I think its time for a tri nations for the women. The only reason why the 6N better is thier experience on the international level and playing more games.
Was ball boy years ago at womens 7's in Hong Kong and the New Zealand team were the mouth foul mouthed disgusting group of women I have ever seen. Arrogant to high hell and calling younger kids cunts if the ball wasn't given back to them quick enough. I have never forgotten, they were just awful human beings.

Congratulations and respect for Ireland's Ladies from France !
Shame the highlights didn't include Niamh Briggs' superb touchline conversion of Alison Miller's wonderful try.
Absolutely fantastic
Magnificent win for the Irish ladies rugby team. Best of success in the following games.
Those women did what the Irish men could not do until two years later - beat NZ. Those Irish ladies are heroes.
this was amazing!!! Ireland should be really proud!!
After the whistle, the Irish no.8 is so overcome, I thought she was going to faint. They will remember this victory for ever.

Go BRIGGS! Go Ireland! ;-) Excellent performance ladies.

Massive, massive win for the ladies in green. Well deserved

2015: 6 nation Champs, just keep it coming

The wording is intending to highlight that the Irish men have never beaten New Zealand. (but you knew that, right?)
Nick Priscott if they had written "Ireland women's team become..." it would have been written properly to the same effect.
Very true, but I sense there was intent in not doing so.
could be...great highlight for the women and great motivation (if any was needed) for the men in any case!
Certainly, and it puts the USA women in position to possibly eliminate NZ from the tournament, but the winner of that match does not entirely control their destiny as England and Canada look better placed with bonus points, and could take the sole 2nd place semi final spot.
