Thank you. I knew from snorkeling that i could see bottom in around thirty feet. I talked with an instructor today that had been up to the islands about a week ago and said the clarity and visibility weren't as good as they had been on previous trips, have you noticed this at all this summer?
Not usually, the visibility is usually much clearer. I am usually able to see the bottom of the platform at around 25-30 ft depth off to the right of the wreck. I believe this was pirate weekend or labor day, which had an unusually high boat traffic occurring.
I actually haven't been up this summer. The visibility can change on short notice due to a number of factors such as rain, wind, surface conditions, traffic ( boat and diver)... I have seen it where it seemed like it was 30ft+ and I have seen it at about 5-10ft. Usually it is pretty decent though every time I have went.
Is visibility always this bad in the Alex Bay area? I've been snorkeling around the Morristown area for years and this will be my first year diving. I am going with experienced divers but would like to know more about conditions.
