After 9 years this is the first time I see a video about this topic. I went through 9 years of seeing dermatologist, allergist and no one knew what I had. I was just put on Xolair injections and that’s how I been able to still eat fruits and vegetables and most important eat out ☺️
Thank you! I paid $400 several years ago for a blood test for metal allergies. Nickel was it! I had a knee replacement that would have been a hot mess if I hadn't known. I now need a new hip, so will be checking on alternative implants.
Hello! Thank you SO much for doing what you do. I just diagnosed myself after 14 Freaking years with this rare SNAS allergy and I also have hereditary alpha tryptasemia (essentially a mast cell disease and histamine intolerance). KEEP GOING - KEEP GOING - KEEP GOING to all :)
This was so helpful - thank you! I was diagnosed by a patch test 5 years ago, but was never told nickel is in our foods. Many of the symptoms you listed have been subsequently diagnosed - pompholyx, fibromyalgia, eye eczema, IBS (for nausea and constipation), etc. After going to doctor after doctor - from pain management to dermatology - an allergist finally confirmed and discussed the systemic form of the allergy. Now I’m searching for info and there is so little of it out there. Thanks for this video - it is a great overview with helpful links to more info. I so appreciate that!
Thank you! I may be in touch regarding coaching if my current dietitian can’t help me. She’s, unfortunately, not been much help to me as I try to navigate all the things, but we’ll see. Thanks again - it’s a huge relief to know there are resources!
Thank you for explaining, I have just been diagnosed a couple of days ago and it’s so overwhelming since I also have a thiuram mix allergy ( rubber & latex ) Trying to figure what’s causing my symptoms has been a challenge but this video helped me so I can start from 0
I’ve been aware of my nickel allergy since I was about 4 or 5 years old. I’m now a musician and constantly reacting to long exposure from microphones :( I’m struggling to find a nickel free one but the reactions are getting bad so I’m going to try the low nickel diet. I’m always eating high nickel foods and had no idea. I’m also allergic to latex which is linked to some foods :/ Thank you for the info!
I was told by a dermatologist that i just washed my hands too much and i needed to use more lotion - this was after i voiced my suspicion of it being food based.
Just wanted to throw it out there…my 80-item patch test was negative at the application site, even after several weeks, but my entire system was in MISERY for weeks after the test. I was reacting in my “usual” spots elsewhere on my body (blistered bloody hands, hives on thighs, etc). Maybe my allergy is not mediated in the same way that ACD is. I do have mast cell issues so to be honest, I really should have avoided the patch test altogether for fear of triggering an allergic reaction. The lymphocyte transformation test from Orthopedic Analysis, while expensive, DID identify my systemic nickel allergy and in a much safer way that the patch test (which did not even catch the nickel allergy according to the “conventional” way of interpreting it on the application site).
Hello Ma'am. I realized that I had a nickel allergy when I was 3 and it developed into something much worse. I have a question about prolonged exposure and the issues that it could has to hormones? I was recently diagnosed with Adrenal PCOS and cannot find the trigger to my issues. I have also had to cut out Dairy and Gluten entirely because of the extreme abdominal pain. Can undiagnosed allergies lead to a hormone imbalance since the body is continuous producing histamines?

Hi Kristina thank you for information actually I have been suffering from nickel allergy after dental and now I am waiting for the dentist to removed my metal crown sue nickel. My symptoms are very but bad. All body itching and get blister also they do burst and now hair loss.
I’ve seen comments about European wheat/bread not affecting a person the same way US versions do (with regard to gerd). I wonder if it’s the same with nickel.
Do you or anyone in the community have any thoughts on brewed black tea? I am highly allergic to nickel / oats, chocolate, dark leafy greens etc send me on a tailspin - headaches, eczema around my eyes and elbows, dark circles, fatigue - you name it I get it I keep straying from my low nickel diet every now and then but always get a stark reminder when I wake up in the middle of the night, wanting to scratch my eyes out… But what I seem to get conflicting reports on is brewed black tea which I love I think I am ok with loose leaf brewed tea / teabags I can’t do as I have already noticed (not sure why and I even thought at one point it has something to do with the bag itself) Just wondered if anyone experienced this ?
I came across this by default when looking up dark chocolate and the mention of nickel contained in it. I suffer from seborrheic dermatitis from time to time but never know what the root cause is, could it be nickel? I am also led to believe that gut health plays a part in skin issue's.
I have a systemic Nickel allergy which for me means seizures and almost died from it from liver and heart failure from a toxic orthopedic implant put in me by the top orthopedic hospitals in the country. I had a blood test and cant eat anything with Nickel because I get seizures and can die.
My boyfriend has a nickel allergy and can’t eat any vegetables and hardly any fruit or else he’s in intense stomach pain. How does one with a nickel allergy still get the nutrients they need?
Hi! There are many fruits and vegetables that are low in nickel. I focus on low nickel fruits, veggies, quinoa, fish, eggs and meat. It's definitely doable. I post more on instagram @kristinadavidwellness. You can see more of my diet there.
I have nickel food allergy 😭…… I can’t eat anything with high nickel food content. I have to keep 2 pins on me at all times… I had to get my stomach pumped for 3 days…..

Hello, my website, kristinadavidwellness.com has a resource page. The Facebook group low nickel diet and lifestyle has a bunch of resources as well. There are a few low nickel lists. My favorite is the Italian nickel detox diet and nickel navigator app. Also, you can follow me on Instagram for daily insights. I post about what I eat and the products I use.
@@sugga_1238 So you get an eczema around nickel jewellery, don`t you. If so, you want to be careful with nickel-rich food, especially cocoa, nuts, soya, legumes, baking soda and powder (in cookies, cakes and countless bread rolls you think of being made of yeast or sour dough), margarine (again in cookies, industrial pizza...). Maybe also with abrasive prone kitchen utensils and steel sinks. Please check this: ruclips.net/video/BsEDebofjAM/видео.html
I’ve used bare minerals and beauty counter without issue, I’m in the US. It’s hard to find nickel tested products. There are some brands in Italy that specifically test for nickel. For most people it’s trial and error. If you are in an active flare I recommend taking a break from all products until you find your trigger. I used organic argan oil as a moisturizer and face wash when I had rashes on my face and hands. When my rashes went away I slowly reintroduced make up. مكيافيلي الامير

An Allergist doctor can do the 3 days patch test on your back, most dermatologists do the arm test and are clueless about this allergy
I was told by a dermatologist that i just washed my hands too much and i needed to use more lotion - this was after i voiced my suspicion of it being food based.

Can any body till please what kettle to use ???
Ideally you find one that doesn’t contain any metal. I use a glass kettle I found on amazon. Ceramic would work too.

I researched that coffee In itself contains nickel 🤷

don`t worry about nickel in your kettle, as long as you avoid acidic water.
