U.S. Marines arrived in the Philippines following a recent escalation of tensions in the South China Sea.
This deployment comes just days after the Philippines announced that the Chinese coast guard boarded Philippine navy vessels and damaged and confiscated equipment in a confrontation that left a sailor severely injured this week, in a stark escalation of tensions over the highly contested South China Sea.

The Philippines has to be willing to "fight" when necessary. Don't depend on another country to fight your battles alone. 911 the Philippines was in the conflict for a hot minute then left when they lost a few troops.

Not taking anything away from this situation, but what I don't understand is how the US always "backs" other countries like Ukraine, Israel, and Phillipines instead of backing itself.
