PLUS... he aaa, aaa, uuhm when uuhm eeeh if you, I mean uhm, the uuuh. It is so frustrating and depressing to listen to him for more than 2 minutes straight. That's sad because he is obviously brilliant and has a lot of good things to say. I wonder if he could take some talking lessons or shock treatment where, every time he said uhm or aaa too close together he'd get the crap shocked out of him. WHEW! I have to... uhm... aaa move on.

The way this guy thinks, first principles, money as a number on a database used for labor allocation, the hyperloop "teleporting" you to sky level without ascend and descend, it's just amazing.

For sure he has to find a way to properly formulate a simple answer out of all the things he knows. It's hard to answer a question simply when you are aware of how many implications there are into everything...I'd struggle too if I knew so much about so many things.

I think that, and also he has to carefully watch what he says these days, because everyone takes everything so serious, which would be bad for his companies. For example, a while ago, he was joking about something, but journalists took what he said seriously which made the companies' stock price fluctuate, that's just plain stupidity right there haha

Chingiz Amirov Hello, I thought the interviewer did a good job and kept Elon ' honest' in a way and made him have to work because Elon has a tendency to talk in clever sound bites. Also if he felt he was being cut short at any point I think he would have pursued that point irrespective of the interviewer's questions as he did at one point early on in the interview. :-)
That interviewer is terrible. He keeps rudely interrupting Elon in mid-sentence. Brought some guy out of retirement that doesn't understand anything and is half senile.
Of all the interviews i've seen with Elon, Walter has asked the best questions and been the most eloquent. I think all interviewers should strive to be like him in their line of work.
How often is it that you hear a multi-billion dollar genius rocket scientist make a The Matrix reference? He is honestly my hero.
The danger from AI is not from something that we can think of but from something that we can't. Sufficiently intelligent AI wouldn't have problem to make us think that we are still in control when in fact we won't be anymore

Walter Isaacson is out of his element here. He clearly has no idea what Musk is communicating sometimes, and most of the time only grasps a small portion of it. I'm not sure why they had him do this interview rather than a journalist who could understand what the interviewee is saying, and act as a bridge between them and the audience. Because he wrote a biography on Steve Jobs? This interview now makes some of us question what was lost in that biography? Hopefully someday the source interviews will be released.

Excuse us if most of us favor the genius' view over yours.
He's right. Bitcoin on it's own doesn't have any value other than non-transparency and this only helps to incr. illegal txns. But besides that, he isn't certain if it's a bad thing which I'm certain it is. Other currencies consume paper + electricity to be manufactured but bitcoin requires electricity for even verifying transactions and this is a lot of energy wastage as compared to just manufacture. It's totally against what Elon Musk's goals are for the planet so I'm pretty sure that it's a bad thing.
I just heard that bitcoin consumes less energy than solid money.
Why on earth did this guy even think about interviewing Musk? He can’t even put one intelligent question together.

I was very surprised to know that Elon fears the insurgence of AI. I mean, in the worst case scenario possible we just shut the whole thing down.
If you create AI based on Synthetic materials similar to our own brain material.. you can't just shut it down, I'm sure off switches could be implemented but I'm sure advance future AI won't be that simple..

The car will both Taxi people around automatically while you arent using it, and will pay for itself, it's power usage and make you money while you're at work or wherever you are. but is still ready for your summoning whenever you need it. This is the most obvious end.
About the singularity issue- Einstein himself didn't think the atomic bomb would work even though he knew atoms could be broken for energy. The Wright Brothers thought flight would be possible, but not for millions of years. And most people are sure AI Singularity will stay in control, or just won't happen. Ignorance is across all.
