  • Some Camry models last 300,000 miles with nothing but oil changes, while others barely make it past 100,000 before disaster hits. In 2010, drivers saw engine troubles they never expected. Dealerships scrambled, and forums exploded with warnings. How do you spot the good years from the headaches?

Old guy here. I bought a 2004 Camry in 2014 with 52,000 miles on it. It’s been the best car I’ve ever owned. Only tires, batteries, air filters, and oil changes done to it. I got to thinking, it’s onky been in the repair shop twice for unexpected repairs. Actually, once. I had a gasket leak that leaked oil and that was in 2025. The second time, I was having the tires rotated, and upon inspection, it needed new brake pads.
I now have 117,820 miles on it. Before it hits 120 k, I plan to have the coolant changed, power steering fluid changed, automatic transmission fluid changed, brake fluid changed, new serpentine belt installed. I was going to have the timing belt replaced, but upon researching, it has a chain.
Great ride, very reliable, good gas mileage, fantastic heater and AC, and easy and simple to work on. I hope to keep it till 300k miles.

I have two 2012 4cyl 2.5L Camry's that have 94k ( gas ) and 150k ( hybrid ). Both with zero issues as of yet just fluid changes. I guess just don't run into anything lol.

On the 2016 and 2017 Camry (had both, 99,99% same models) the arm holder is too high, I always hit my arm on it. BAD BAD BAD Toyota!
