Ehh they don't compare very well. Game of Thrones was a lot longer and a lot of more perspectives. This is roughly 22 minutes an episode and generally only 1 perspective. Despite there being multiple characters were not exactly seeing things from multiple perspectives. If we're comparing scenes to best scenes...honestly it's not even close imo. This is great for a quick little thing, but GoT's peak scenes where truly incredible.
Completely agree - outstanding series and even though the episodes are a bit short by normal standards and we only get 6 - I would rather have a masterful handling of the story like this then a bloated 10 episode season with hour long episodes that drag. Just one of the best single season stories told. Going to have to read the books again to spend more time with Dunc and Egg.
It was Tragic that before he died, Baelor gave a compliment to how strong his brother was. He truly loved and respected his brother who accidentally killed him to at the time, save his son he thought was about to die.
The video mentions putting "some" of the blame on Aerion? From assaulting the actress, to refusing the 1-1 trial by combat, to trying to cheat by offering a lordship to one of Dunk's champions (without that, Baelor doesn't have to step in at all). Based on selfish intentions, the one person who could've easily saved Baelor's life is Aerion, who condemned Baelor with every selfish action. Aerion might as well have killed Baelor himself.
"My father never thought the throne would pass to him, yet it did. He used to say that was the punishment for the blow that slew his brother. I pray he found the peace in death that he never knew in life." - Maester Aemon
This episode perfectly captures why people love game of thrones! I only wish season 8 was this well done and thought out. GRRM must be over the moon with pride! 😊
this brought back game of throne back and we know Egg do become king so alot more of his family about to died and knowing he accident kill his brother by accident, that guilt going eat him alive
2:00 Baelor and his brother were going at it. They dismounted each other. Baelor got smacked around with a mace. Plus the kings guard killed the Humphreys. WTF happened to don't worry about them??? lol he didn't do a good job of using their oaths to take them out of the fight.
If one believes in the Seven, then one believes that everything that happened was controlled by them. Ser Duncan was just a pawn they used to end up with the final result. Part of that was that Aerion ended up in Lys, Baelor ended up dead, Maekar spent his life grieving, and Aegon ended up the squire of Duncan and the eventual King. Ser Duncan ended up with several descendants who may have saved Westeros later.
Aerion wasn't at the funeral because he was in bed recovering from his injuries. From an accuracy standpoint, it's a miracle he survived when Dunk stabbed him in the leg crease. There's a big artery and a big vein there and you can easily die from an injury to either of these even in modern day 😵
@bmiilkReminder: this is the show we are discussing, not the book. The preview for the next episode shows the funeral and also shows a shot of Egg entering Aerion's chambers with a dagger in his hand. Presumably, those are the latter's temporary chambers in Ashford castle, no?
Hmm, I have a different take about Ser Lyonel. From what he said in his two clips feels to me like he's not relieving Dunc of blame, he's trying to bring Dunc to his side AGAINST the Targaryans. He's trying to break Dunc's loyalty to the Targaryans (Egg and Baelor at least) by saying Baelor had nothing to lose while I came to your side regardless of the cost (like you also said). Never read the book, but his words and manerisms don't read as supportive, they seem frustrated at something Dunc has said. The Baratheons are kings by the time of OG GoT are they not? Perhaps Baylor starts that?
@ohiorose yes... but when they mention the claim they are specifically referring to Roberts grandmother Rhaelle Targaryen the youngest daughter of Aegon V Targaryen
@charalamboscharalambous165 Rhaelle marrying into the Baratheon house is more of a "return to the fold" for the Baratheons. There are events during Egg's rein that causes a falling out between the Crown and Lyonel Baratheon. In short - Lyonel is a bit of a diva.
No. Lyonel fought against the Targaryens in his rebellion for a wholly unrelated reason that has nothing to do with anything that happened in season 1. Lyonel is jaded about the world, he wants to bro it up with Dunk likely, even though he’s predicting the second rebellion. Lyonel does not participate in the upcoming Second Blackfyre rebellion. Also Lyonel is clearly not Lord of Storm’s end yet if he’s still participating in bromances and adventures lol. Must be coming soon.
One thing I hope the finale doesn’t gloss over is the political magnitude of Baelor’s death. Emotionally, it’s devastating-but structurally, it reshapes the Targaryen succession and weakens the realm at a fragile time between Blackfyre tensions. If the show leans into that ripple effect instead of keeping it purely personal, it could elevate the ending from tragic to historically pivotal.
I guess I’m one of the few people who’s only criticism of the show is the short format. I’m not sure why people think they can’t make it an hour long without losing quality. You can absolutely make them an hour long and good quality, those two ideas are not mutually exclusive.
@shinjineesen9062 “Have to” is a strange way to put it? I don’t see why they couldn’t have combined these six episodes into three and just add three more hour long episodes going further into the story. There’s plenty source material they could have easily gotten more from.
@BrotherKevinHunterYou want longer episodes? Don't they have to (as in "must") put in other material? Perhaps from the same sources but irrelevant to the plot line.
Or the Hedge Knight, a novella, what would you suggest adding? The showrunners have clearly planned to do one novella at a timem The Hedge Knight is at Ashford in the eastern Reach. The Sworn Sword, the next one, in the Northen marches of the Reach, close to Goldengrove. I expect some serious flashbacks to the Blackfyre Revellion and also the Great Spring Sickness (which killed off the King and Baelor's sons along with much of the population).
When I like a show, I need a sense of satisfaction, I really like this show. The 30 minute run time is disappointing because I really, really like this show. It has no fillers, well except maybe the Flea bottom stuff but it was well done. The tone and atmosphere of the show is excellent, so much that it has left me wanting more. Is that a good thing? Maybe, maybe not But I think that a six episode GOT spin-off should be longer that half an hour, for God's sake, we are talking about GOT!
I never read the books but many of the channels that review this series had already given away Baelor’s fate. The targaron fought again Dunk more strongly than I suspected, so I was actually surprised. I enjoyed Egg yelling Get Up to Dunk. Thanks for explaining the trailer
I knew what was going to happen, but still felt a ton of dread. That lineup into the helmet cam shot felt like getting into a TIC for the first time. Can't see or hear shit.
It was great. Hear lots complaining and comparing. Let it be great by itself. As for those criticizing the run time and release schedule- HBO relies on subscribers. So they got you for 2-3 months for this show - 2-3 months for that show- less likely if you unsubscribe between them. Just saying.
Do you think the penultimate episode is up there with some of GoT best? Share your thoughts in the comments!
Sorry to say, but the bright white frame that began appearing around your videos a few day ago really messes with my cataracts. 🙁

@TrailerTrashThorne I agree. We're again seeing that social media doesn't do nuance. If it's not the worst then it's got to be the best. 😉
@Philip-0 If it's not the best, then it's the worst. =]
Absolutely
Baelor speaks so calmly even is he is already about to die. Respect.
His final words were both a commendation and a condemnation of his brother, truly poetic

Totally agree!
House of Ashur was way better

Raymond Fosaway is an absolute chad! Long live the great green apple! 🍏

The 5th episode definitely had a impact. Everything was wholesome before the 5th episode. It made everything more real
Penultimate episodes in the GoT world are always the best!
This episode perfectly captures why people love game of thrones! I only wish season 8 was this well done and thought out. GRRM must be over the moon with pride! 😊
This show is so amazing. I watch all the pods and videos about it.
this brought back game of throne back and we know Egg do become king so alot more of his family about to died and knowing he accident kill his brother by accident, that guilt going eat him alive
More dorne than dragon, which was a good thing.
Please remove the white background,, maybe replace it with a blank one, really hurts
Thanks for letting me know!
@BrainPilot, yeah, it's really bad.
Black is always the better choice, if you really need this format.
Finale!!!!! Oh cmon!!!
2:00 Baelor and his brother were going at it. They dismounted each other. Baelor got smacked around with a mace. Plus the kings guard killed the Humphreys. WTF happened to don't worry about them??? lol he didn't do a good job of using their oaths to take them out of the fight.
4:29 Aerion is most likely bed ridden from getting his groin slashed and face punched in.
They did it again, didnt they?
Kudos
Love your videos and the way you explain them! Keep up the great work😁
Thank you! Glad you enjoy the videos
I was such a critic of this show when it was announced. Now I can’t get enough of it
Same! I didn't have an appetite for more GoT but this feels the same but different and it just works so perfectly
I’m there too…I’m not too into HOTD but this is wayyy more my speed. It’s been great so far.
To be fair, I was hoping for them to just follow the damn book. Sure stuff were added, just like in GoT season 1 but they did it great justice.
❤❤❤⚔️🛡
The show start was a departure from what I expected a GOT series to be..almost felt like a sitcom.. but I’m pleased with how it’s turning out
Why was Daenaerys seemingly fireproof while all these other Targaeryan's are being cremated or destined to die in fire?
Egg's little hat ❤
😂
What a great series. I want more!
Same! good job we're getting another season
Losing bAelor was a heartbreak. I hate the Targaryans but Baelor was legit a solid leader and uniter. Completely unjust of the 7 to let him die.
Very excited for that conversation between Dunc and Lionel
Same here!

Nope it’s because he got sent to Lys
@bmiilkReminder: this is the show we are discussing, not the book. The preview for the next episode shows the funeral and also shows a shot of Egg entering Aerion's chambers with a dagger in his hand. Presumably, those are the latter's temporary chambers in Ashford castle, no?

yeah no... remember Roberts claim to the throne due to having Targarian ancenstors? he got that with a little help from Egg
@charalamboscharalambous165 Barth are Targ bastards from Aegon 1 line.
@ohiorose yes... but when they mention the claim they are specifically referring to Roberts grandmother Rhaelle Targaryen the youngest daughter of Aegon V Targaryen

Lionel must stay, such a great character.
🍏

They would have to put in a lot of other stuff not in the novella that might take away from the main plot.

They are trying to pack 300 pages into multiple seasons
@BkalasaThey have multiple books
A SIX episode season?! Wth
Yep, It's a lower budget series. The scenes happened at one place & filmed in one set.
@akachied4166 the entire set is only in one location too
Great show but we got like 1/4 of a season . Short episodes and a short season.
It's only a novella. They already added quite a few extras.
7:08 Egg is a lil shit lol says that after Dunk's epic victory in a 7v7 death match
Egg's screaming is annoying as hell
@Dan-The-Judgelol Dunk needs to clout him on the ear a few times
It was totally Aerion's fault. He attacked an unarmed young woman. He was too scared to fight a single hedge knight. He caused it.
I never read the books but many of the channels that review this series had already given away Baelor’s fate. The targaron fought again Dunk more strongly than I suspected, so I was actually surprised. I enjoyed Egg yelling Get Up to Dunk. Thanks for explaining the trailer
I hate the fact that a movie got turned into a season?
I feel like it worked really well as a short season!
This show is becoming super annoying and overrated
shit take
like your momma'
