Been out of the US since 2007 when Bush took my research grant (many others too) and put it into the Iraq war 2 months before my program was to start. Frisk hits different if you're queer or different and left the US: [Verse 1] Walk all night, the county had to let me go Walk all night, I was a force they could not hold Walk all night, following the road [Refrain] We wait for the night We wait for the night Following the road [Chorus 1] Should we call this place forever? Our life is just your radio show Would you go with me wherever And not be American anymore? Find another home [Verse 2] Walk all night, walk all night Walk all night, put the Value Saver down Walk all night, let's find a car and fool around Walk all night, following the road [Refrain] We wait for the night We wait for the night Following the road [Chorus 2] Would we call this place forever? Our lives are just a speech in some school Will you clean this town forever? And I'll be the king of the carpool Following the road [Chorus 3] Will we call this place forever? (Walk all night) Our lives are just a speech in some school (Walk all night) Will I wear this town forever (Walk all night) And you'll be the queen of the drive-thru? (Walk all night)

This is really nice, thanks. Personally though, I find the music more enjoyable if I don't even try to hear the lyrics, oddly enough. The vocals, to me, just add another layer of sound onto an already wonderful soundscape that pushes this from "great" to "perfect", and part of that effect is achieved by listening to the melody of the vocals rather than the lyrics themselves. It's like when you listen to a song in a language completely foreign to you.
post punk, everything is post punk after 79, i did a shit in the loo, i think it was post punk, lol. Kylie Minogue, was she post punk? You didnt mention Joy Division, lol. Im sorry just kiddin , thanks for your precise categorisation.
80's dreamland....recreated in 2016...enjoyed in 2020 during covid lockdown, doing office work....and yes came here because of the cover girl's mysterious stare - Peace and Lots of Love from Mumbai, India.
I'm here because of the band Automatic. Man, you youngins are making great music bringing me back to the early 80s sounds that I love and still love. I'm so proud of you "kids" :) My own daughter is in a band ( was 2 bands but Deep has since disbanded much to my utter sorrow! ) Cult Objects and Deep Tissue-- please look them up!
Looks like she's about to help overthrow an Italian gang my guy: vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/vsbattles/images/7/7b/Tumblr_static_bj3izz3exqg4w4k4kg8osw0gc.png/revision/latest?cb=20150524194436
It's an attractive, interesting dressed and looking girl doing an unnatural gesture with her hands with a serious face (almost like she is doing some ritual/magic) in front of an eerie house. The girl has a lot of contrast in her; she's pale but has dark hair and wears dark clothes (it gives intensity). The gray looking house and sky matches her darker appeal as well (it feels right, like it carries a truth within; something special she knows we don't know about). It feels like she's going to show us magic for the first time. The overall transmits a dark attraction for an unknown beauty.
This is, in my humble opinion, the best of this neo-post punk movement. Black Marble is absolutely fantastic. Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. Favorite tracks are "Collene", "Missing Sibling", and "Self Guided Tours"
Loving how the girl's hair blows in the same direction the roof and window shades are sloped in. The way she has put her hands together parallels the edge of the roof around the house. Very clever and feng shui cover art.
John Beetles same. I don't know man stuff like this just gets me thinking about that 2012 shit. Everything getting connected. And not just the internet, i mean life.
I know exactly what you mean. Try not to get hung up in the past too much. (The good & bad). The past doesn't exist anymore my friend. 2012 was an interesting year for me as well.
God this is Fantastic!!!!! It's like when some of your favorite bands from 30-40 years ago fall by the wayside, retire, lose their touch, and their style is reborn into new spirits and it's just as wonderful. Thanks youtube algorithm, I hate and love you.
It's a cover where you just need to know what's going on. I'm enjoyably puzzling over the relationship between the cover and the music. She must be one of the characters feeling the stress of what's going on in the songs. I can't quite make out what's being said in the songs, or what she's emoting, and I enjoy that.
I can understand loving them if you love cheese music (which I do, but they aren't quite the right brand for me). I just like their t-shirt designs...lol.
On one hand, thank you, RUclips algorithm. This is a nice find indeed. On the other hand, why did it take almost four years for me to find this? Great stuff.
Coming back to an album you used to listen almost Daily Is like coming back home after a long time...and see nothing changed...everything is so magic as It used to be...i feel hugged by this album
Yes this is still definitely my favorite album of all time. I don't normally like a whole album but I like all of this to pieces. I've tried looking for other music that sounds like this but I can't find any that matches it. They either sing to upbeat/weird and the music seems too upbeat or weird. But this album is just completely perfect.
There's nothing wrong with being influenced. They aren't playing Joy Division/New World Order covers. What are you going to hate on Michelangelo because he uses the same architectural forms as the ancients? Maybe, but only if you're a small minded nub.
really like your comment! In the end, its actually very natural for the human mind to make instant associations. Maybe the need for sharing makes us instantly comment our thoughts. It takes one a step further to reach a higher interpretation
I agree. I actually think that the artists have surpassed the originals. Not because new is better but because this new bands have taken an old timeless sound and have made it even better.
@@patrickt6227 I don't share that opinion. To me it sounds like a neutral voice which fits the music very. But you are not obliged to share my opinion.
This album keeps getting better the longer I know it, the more I keep coming back. Discovered this video a couple years ago. One of my all time favorite albums now.

No words can describe this album. Actually there are some. It's like a plant growing inside your chest which ends up leaving you empty inside once you finish to listen the album. VERY WELL DONE! :)
"I'll give you some nice thing... or not. Solve by yourself", - said my friend. This... this music just reminds me that i'm human. It's clearly soulful. I have no words anymore.
Eu lembro quando ouvia esse album e não tinha nem 1k de views nele. Por muito tempo a imagem dessa menina se manteve em minha mente e finalmente encontrei a fonte.
I can relate. Sometimes life is missing something. And then it arrives. But it isn't the fact that it has arrived that makes it all meaningful, but the fact that it was pointless to expect it to arrive in the first place. The reason for this is that the future is not modifiable and neither is the past - only the present. Follow your intuition and you'll find what you are looking for, whenever you do! Hug from Brazil
Two or three months ago I dreamed about the cover of this album but I had no idea of what it may be. Now I just found out that I had a vision of me listening this album lol
Bruh RUclips is where I find good music. The ALGORITHM needs a little input from you at first, but after a while it becomes right on the money with recommendations
Hi my name is Mohamed Fathi from Yemen I really need to say that this is not an ordinary song it's a master peace is mixing all those melodies and sounds to showing us the beauty and the ugly the true and right…
nobody can deny the Joy Division/New Order influence - who cares - everyone is influenced by the records they listen to - they make good music. thumbs up :-)
This makes me feel stuff, like hard to describe stuff; a sad kind of happy, a cold comfort if you will. But then also hopeful in a way? It's one of the few pieces of shitty duct tape holding me together still at this point.
I can't count how many times I've walked through life with this album. Through the best and worst times, it doesn't matter. Nothing really matters in the end. Chris, I don't know you, but I love you on some level that I can't explain. 🥰
i love 80s inspired stuff these days. i hear lots of weird synths and 80s like effects but for some reason i dont think of that music as purely "retro", for some reason it almost feels perfect. like a righteous second coming or continuation of synthpop and 80s musical styles
Usually autoplay is good to me, but the first minute of this is the last thing you need to hear when you're up late strung out doing shit you should have done already. Probably good, just can't deal
Remembered seeing this in my recommended a few years ago. I thought it was lost forever, but I’m glad to see the grimy waifu appear on my front page again.
When I was younger (around ten years ago) I used to listen to the likes of The Cure, which was already a bit outdated for the time taking into account that they began writing songs in the early 80's. Now, with this album, I can see how this post-punk has evolved by incorporating vaporwave, 8-Bit and other electronica advancements of the last few years. Can definitely see a connection but most importantly, a progress.

Been out of the US since 2007 when Bush took my research grant (many others too) and put it into the Iraq war 2 months before my program was to start.
Frisk hits different if you're queer or different and left the US:
[Verse 1]
Walk all night, the county had to let me go
Walk all night, I was a force they could not hold
Walk all night, following the road
[Refrain]
We wait for the night
We wait for the night
Following the road
[Chorus 1]
Should we call this place forever?
Our life is just your radio show
Would you go with me wherever
And not be American anymore?
Find another home
[Verse 2]
Walk all night, walk all night
Walk all night, put the Value Saver down
Walk all night, let's find a car and fool around
Walk all night, following the road
[Refrain]
We wait for the night
We wait for the night
Following the road
[Chorus 2]
Would we call this place forever?
Our lives are just a speech in some school
Will you clean this town forever?
And I'll be the king of the carpool
Following the road
[Chorus 3]
Will we call this place forever? (Walk all night)
Our lives are just a speech in some school (Walk all night)
Will I wear this town forever (Walk all night)
And you'll be the queen of the drive-thru? (Walk all night)

Lyrics.
1:11 Iron lung.
[Verse 1]
Oh, iron lung, are you at the house?
Will you be alright, did they throw you out?
I want to know, are they keeping you down?
Are you working now, is it working out?
[Verse 2]
Now, I suppose you've been under the gun
Is it closing time, do you have to run?
Try this on... you feel perfect now
Did they speak of you until their tongues fell out?
[Chorus]
I don't believe you, iron lung
I don't believe in the plow
You kept me young, you were my iron lung
I need you now
[Verse 3]
Now, iron lung, did they make you sing
When they bent your arm and took your ring?
I can see you now, I can hear your sound
You keep me up, my iron lung
[Chorus]
I don't believe you, iron lung
I don't believe in the plow
You kept me young, you were my iron lung
I need you now
05:09 - It's conditional.
[Verse 1]
Lime and red in your painted room
Your first cameo, find a reason
I'll let you know, keep these things in mind
Funny how your labor's love is a waste of time
Another so-called starlet can't leave her apartment
[Chorus]
Find a reason, irrefutable, obviously right
You'll find a reason, I don't know
Find a reason, unconditional and obviously right
You'll find a reason, I don't know
[Verse 2]
Lying in bed, sing your favorite tune
(You put a dime in the water)
Your telepathic stereo knows your feelings
(To be a model daughter)
Under the snow, hide the thing you like
(You put a dime in the water)
Tell me how the waking world is a waste of time
(To be a model daughter)
You put a dime in the water to be a model daughter
[Chorus]
Find a reason, irrefutable, obviously right
You'll find a reason, I don't know
Find a reason, unconditional and obviously right
You'll find a reason, I don't know
09:36 - Woods.
[Verse 1]
I miss the sunlight hour when I feel tired
It's always on the mind
I miss your Sun right now, when I'm inspired
To hold you in the night
[Chorus 1]
Why won't you come right out?
Why can't you come right out?
Why won't you come right out
Say what's on my mind?
[Verse 2]
Upside down, I kept your love tied down
To hold you in the night
I kept your love tied down, and I conspired
To hold you in the night
[Chorus 2]
Why did you come right out?
Why did you come right out?
Why did you come right out
Say what's on my mind?
12:41 - A million billion stars.
[Verse 1]
Hold the place in the line
Only a matter of time
You can catch me on the sideline saying
"Wanna come home for a while?"
[Verse 2]
An old game, but a surprise
Hold your hands to my eyes
And let me guess a hundred times
I know it, I can't stay the night
[Verse 3]
Waiting for the day that I
Never have to turn around and see you smile
Waving so long
Good night, goodbye
16:00 - Missing sibling.
[Verse 1]
I am writing for the info
I remember the time and the place
I can't remember your face
Only for a moment
It's easy to forget your place
I might be the last known survivor
In a diner they shot into space
[Verse 2]
I've painted every mountain
I've sketched out every choice
I can't remember your voice
Only for a moment
And I just don't even know why
I might be the last known survivor
On an island as big as the night
17:43 - Frisk.
[Verse 1]
Walk all night, the county had to let me go
Walk all night, I was a force they could not hold
Walk all night, following the road
[Refrain]
We wait for the night
We wait for the night
Following the road
[Chorus 1]
Should we call this place forever?
Our life is just your radio show

Our lives are just a speech in some school (Walk all night)
Will I wear this town forever (Walk all night)
And you'll be the queen of the drive-thru? (Walk all night)
21:14 - Golden heart.
[Verse 1]
You should hear your voice again
How can I forget?
Hide another secret in your head
Better believe I hear the sound
The news that's on the ground
I'm not the only one
[Chorus 1]
Find out on your own time
Every day and night
Everybody's asking me why
If I told you what I know I wouldn't lie
[Verse 2]
Holding onto your own voice
How can you forget?
Hide another secret in your head
"It's a game," I always thought
There's hardly any thought
More common than to wish we're not
[Chorus 2]
Find out on your own time
Every day and night
Everybody's acting a bore
Saying you don't come around anymore
[Chorus 1]
Find out on your own time
Every day and night
Everybody's asking me why
If I told you what I know I wouldn't lie
24:36 - Self guided tours.
[Verse 1]
There's only one thing, I'm sorry, do you see what I see?
You're the owner of a lonely heart on a tour of a monastery
Get ahold of your scheme, I'm sorry, do you see what I see?
I'm gonna see you on the kitchen floor asleep, with your hair in the coffee
[Pre-Chorus]
There's always a catch, there's always a place to go
Bathtub radiator radio sitting on magazines
[Chorus]
What are you thinking?
Don't this time
There's always a catch
There's always your pride
Always in good time
[Verse 2]
There's only two things I'd always change if you asked me
You've got a motor for a mouth and a pack of cigarettes that keep your cardigan lousy
There's only one thing, I'm sorry, better than nothing
You could come over, but it's late at night and there won't be nothing on the TV
[Pre-Chorus]
There's always a catch, there's always a place to go
Bathtub radiator radio sitting on magazines
[Chorus]
What are you thinking?
Don't this time
There's always a catch
There's always your pride
Always in good time
[Outro]
There's only one thing, I'm sorry
You're the owner of a lonely heart
There's only one thing, I'm sorry
You're the owner of a lonely heart
There's only one thing, I'm sorry
You're the owner of a lonely heart
28:29 - Portland u.
[Verse 1]
Sign me up, holding you, the future is in your room
Recite with us: "Only the future is here anew."
When the phone booth rings, it's the happening thing
You need to change your tune
[Verse 2]
Sign the page, only the future is here anew
Sign with us, only the future is in review
Where the article led, the satisfied said
"The keys are in your room."
[Verse 3]
When the monitor sings and the mission bell rings
You need to change your tune
With a sideways glance, are you acting by chance?
We need you in your room
32:06 - Collene.
[Verse 1]
Hear me knocking on your window slow
Don't turn around to go
I hear your doubt
I'll reply with the sins of our whole town
[Verse 2]
Your hesitation's only natural
In my younger days, I built a wall
Hiding from the favored sons outside the union hall
Don't you know they had it all?
[Chorus 1]
The Diltmores are dead
All the Diltmores are dead
My memory's a mess
The millionaires are not impressed
You and I will make up all the rest
[Verse 3]
A stone creation never seemed so low
Don't ask me why... I don't know
Going down, you reply
"Your camera hit me right between my eyes."
[Verse 4]
Your insecurity seems natural
In my younger days, I knew it all
Standing tall in the bathroom stall
I had the non-believers where I want
Always holding on
[Chorus 2]
The Diltmores are dead
All the Diltmores are dead
My memory's a mess
All the Diltmores are dead
[Interlude]
Eating alone, what's the conversation?
Everyone knows about what you said
Sitting at home, what's the conversation?
Everyone knows why you're stuck in bed
[Verse 1]
Hear me knocking on your window slow

Your comment is supposed to be ALLLL the way up there
This is really nice, thanks. It's like when you listen to a song in a language completely foreign to you.
sweet, thanks mate
Thank you, I pinned the comment for everyone to see!
you should do this for a different arrangement too
3 years, at least ! 3 years i'm searching for this album that I listened in a party. Thanks algorithm
damn, what kinda party plays this music? That's crazy
What kind of party do you usually go?
omgg
Woaaaaaa lucky you!
same!
I just got home from seeing them at the Elbo Room in San Francisco.
I can't put my finger on exactly what it was, but the show was majestic.
Wow remember in the before fore times when we could see bands play music in crowded venues while drinking and yelling?
@Jan Michael Vincent he do be merely existing tho
Excellent! Did you record the show?
Interesting fact: It's not called the Elbo Room anymore.
@@dustinmorlan7084 I don't know the specifics, but it's called the Valencia Room now. It's still a bar.
This is pretty much 1980's new wave and post-punk combined with modern indie and alternative rock... and i love it.
s guy I bet you're fun at hip parties where really cool people discuss fun genres

I kind of mad that I just discovered this in 2021. I could've been bopping to Black Marble all this time.
I feel ya, but someone once said that the music of a certain artist/band comes into your life when you're ready for it, as banal as that may sound.
@@laceratinglight I agree! In my high school days, Toro y Moi popped up as an artist I’d listen while doing homework

Suddenly after listening to this album for maybe the 50th time, I realized it was one of my all time favorite albums haha
Mine too.
I can't put my finger exactly on why I think this is a great album cover image
it has been 3 years and I can't describe why the cover art is so appealing...
its cause shes got that dog in her, big dick energy, and unapologetic swag
It's an attractive, interesting dressed and looking girl doing an unnatural gesture with her hands with a serious face (almost like she is doing some ritual/magic) in front of an eerie house. The girl has a lot of contrast in her; she's pale but has dark hair and wears dark clothes (it gives intensity). The gray looking house and sky matches her darker appeal as well (it feels right, like it carries a truth within; something special she knows we don't know about). It feels like she's going to show us magic for the first time.
The overall transmits a dark attraction for an unknown beauty.
The girl's hands match the ceiling if you pay attention. The cover is as good as the songs
SHE A WIZZY! (wizard)
Very clever and feng shui cover art.

to cansado de ser forte, eu estou chorando depois de muitos anos sem chorar...
It's a cover where you just need to know what's going on. I'm enjoyably puzzling over the relationship between the cover and the music. She must be one of the characters feeling the stress of what's going on in the songs. I can't quite make out what's being said in the songs, or what she's emoting, and I enjoy that.
Thanks for the upload, great band , great music.
Just purchased the vinyl. Such a wonderful album!

Sounds like generic indie male vocals to me
@@patrickt6227 I don't share that opinion. To me it sounds like a neutral voice which fits the music very. But you are not obliged to share my opinion.

I've listened to this album pretty much multiple times every day since I found it. It's too good. Well done to all involved.
Sitting outside on a rainy day under the hospital over pass. Eating a chicken & cheese sandwich while listening to this is wonderful.
I can't even describe the way this album makes me feel. It makes me long for everything. It makes me liquid sad. Liquid sad all day.
Hug from Brazil
that first line you wrote is basically every comment ever on music. everyone feels that way for some reason.

It's supposed to be a girl performing black magic. She's a witch. Which contrasts with the suburban background.
Woods is such a great song.....RUclips is strikingly accurate when it comes to recommending music
nobody can deny the Joy Division/New Order influence - who cares - everyone is influenced by the records they listen to - they make good music. thumbs up :-)
I think this is one of the best that RUclips has recommended to me.
It transmits tranquility and nostalgia, but I don't know to what or who.
why dont you guys like the intro of this masterpiece? it is awesome too xDD
I havent heard this in years and years and i still remember the sound and am humming along like i listened to it yesterday.
One of the best artcovers ever made. Suburban darkwave 80s.
Edward schizzorhands keeps popping up. Winona going badass
This makes me feel stuff, like hard to describe stuff; a sad kind of happy, a cold comfort if you will. But then also hopeful in a way? It's one of the few pieces of shitty duct tape holding me together still at this point.
Alucinante que a muchos nos produzcan sensaciones similares, este disco es maravilloso!
I can't count how many times I've walked through life with this album. Through the best and worst times, it doesn't matter. Nothing really matters in the end. Chris, I don't know you, but I love you on some level that I can't explain. 🥰

Nice catch. Pretty sure it's a direct nod to that song. They play with the delay time and everything.

It really is a great photograph. A moment in time captured forever. Unlike almost all other moments.
Moody post-punk done in the lo-fi, layered, home recording style of shoegaze. Simply beautiful. ❤
I'm so happy I clicked on this. Ian Curtis will not be forgotten.
i love 80s inspired stuff these days. i hear lots of weird synths and 80s like effects but for some reason i dont think of that music as purely "retro", for some reason it almost feels perfect. like a righteous second coming or continuation of synthpop and 80s musical styles
Usually autoplay is good to me, but the first minute of this is the last thing you need to hear when you're up late strung out doing shit you should have done already. Probably good, just can't deal

Mais ou menos 1 ano eu comecei a ter contato com essa banda, porém é como se já tivesse Escutado a minha vida inteira!! Grande descoberta.
This album makes me want to eat eggs and waffles for breakfast. Lots of maple syrup and lots of butter.
