Those suits are very effective. If no one knew in advance what they were looking for they wouldn't spot them, and even then not always.
When I was a young buck, we used to make our own ghillie suits.
The plastic leafs and sticks are good for basic setup. Finishing touches should be made by using stuff from the area in which you plan to use it. And has to be renewed every 2nd or 3rd day.
But it works quite well. More the figure than the color that betrayed you.
I like the idea that you can attach some natural gras from your environment
Cool Beans!....sweet and simple for a bit of stealth wild camping. throw in on and squat....when seconds count.

Awesome video as always Lilly. I did a hide and seek video when I was testing out three different pairs of camo clothes I have. Some shots were hard to see me, but other spots were kind of easy. A few of your spots I didn’t find you, but then there were some that I thought you might be there and you were. Stay safe and be well. Thanks for sharing.

I have used ghillie suits for years deer hunting they work so well I have considered making one camo and blaze orange.
What would be the Point, other that to keep from getting shot???
@@dennistaylor5052 Deer do not see color the way we do. the loose material blowing in the breeze they see as leaves, grass etc. A ghillie breaks up your outline way more than conventional camo does. That is why deer will walk right up to someone wearing blaze orange yet run when they see blue for instance.

As a professional seamster....that is so cool. I live in the Sonoran desert. I’ve often wondered about making a suit (or squatting hut) in the form of a Saguaro cactus and a rock “tent” next to it for sleeping comfortably. Plus, a body suit with sharp thorns sticking out could be an effective deterrent from “wildlife” like inquisitive coyote.

Thanks for this video Lilly, I enjoyed it. Very informative. Trying to spot you hiding in all those shots was fun. I found you before you moved in all but 2 of them. The suit was in general darker than the dead dried leaves around you. If I didn't know that I was looking for something, I don't think I would have seen you in many at all, an easy thing to overlook unless you pay attention..
Very nice ghillie cape. I would need one very large to fit over my hunting coats, as most of my hunting is done in the dead of winter.

I wish Novritsch did a poncho version with the same specs as a rain poncho... I find it gives me more freedom of movement and I can even conceal an Adder crossbow underneath (Already tried it with a crappy one) Plus it's easier to get on in a hurry, keep it in a backpack and go from city civilian to full ghillie in moments.
I believe they sell camo for guns, I am sure you can adapt it for a crossbow

Interesting aspect of survival! The suit looks good, though a bit light coloured. I'm sure it can be modified for most terrains.
I'm pretty sure you wouldn't hide in a Golden Wheat field in a green ghillie suit, but I get your point
I don't know if it's just that I'm good at spotting inconsistencies in patterns or what, but out of the 10 times that you hid, I missed twice, but all in all I'd like to have one of those suits cause they do work great.
The cameraman made it too easy I think. My vision isn't the greatest, but I spotted her most of the time too.

Hands need covering. Most important the face with camo face paint reversing shadows or face mask of camo. Both animals and people immediately recognize the eyes or shadowed eye sockets that look like eyes.
You should try making your own Lilly. lots of fun. Just need needle and good thread, fishing net, jute, raffia. And also try using twist ties to attach nearby foliage. I've made about 15 ghillie pieces in my day :p
Try hemp, burlap, string, I find the material ones don't move like real foliage in a breeze.

Lilly, have you seen the WW2 Russian Amoeba camouflage suit? It’s surprisingly very effective.
Not even close to this, a sniper would find them easily. Lilly simply disappears and that's with just a partial suit. Lilly would always win at "Hide & Seek"...outstanding Miss Lilly

Awesome bit of kit , I think you could use a lighter colour camp in the grass but this works very well in the brush and leaves, love the somewhat collaboration , novritsch has some awesome kit 👌 👍

That's soooo cool!! Snipers are trained to make their own ghillie suit. It's a pretty elaborate process to make one using natural materials. Check out the Grey Bearded Green Beret who explains it. However, this is a great alternative!! Just make sure you don't look like a Chewbacca in the woods. 😉

I have one question. What the use of a ghillie suit if everyone only remains hidden while lying down? At least if you can be hidden while in crouched it would be better. You can by wearing brown clothes and just using environment correctly blend in without ghillie suite. Use the shades if possible it helps a lot. And dont move if those that you want to avoid are close.

It is important that the suit also have the temperature of the environment and does not leak heat signature from your body. One way of lowering the heat signature is to keep it wet. (But not you).
