Most wonderful article, Though I live in the USA I was born in Zaandam in 1941. This article brought back memories during and after the war. We immigrated in 1955. The suffering and hostility none should never be a part of life ever again. In our home we had a bunker build and hid many. I remember visiting the Koppel poort in Amersfoort where my Uncle and Aunt lived which brought many people to safety bij boats through the river that ran under the Koppel port. Let us remember always the horrors of war and though the younger generations have no clue, we should be reminded that to be bound by a few causes calamity among humanity. By all of this how far into peace are we really. Maria gothard/ van den brink
