Sad how that was 4 years ago today and today milwaukee has another office killed in the line of duty 😥
So sorry for the family’s loss
Покойся с миром офицер Риттнер. Мои соболезнования Родным и Близким а также Колегам.😥😢😭 I'm crying in a place with you. Even though I'm from Russia. I feel very sorry for Him. rest in peace. And condolences to Relatives, Friends and Colleagues.😫😭😢😥🇷🇺
Wow. Even Chicago Police came out. Crazy. I never seen Chicago Police attend one of these (at least in recent times).
How many departments come out to show this strong support for this hero?
Sorry FOR YOUR LOST FROM CHRIS POPE UK 🇬🇧 AMEN
How he die though?
Four years ago yesterday: On Wednesday, February 6th, 2019, at about 9:17 a.m., the Milwaukee Police Department’s Tactical Enforcement Unit responded to the 2900 block of South 12th Street to conduct a search warrant. The target of the search warrant was wanted for the illegal sale of firearms and drugs. While conducting the search warrant, officers announced themselves as police at which time the suspect fired several rounds. Officer Matthew Rittner was struck by gunfire and transported to Froedtert Hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
Officer Rittner was 35 years old. He began his career as a police aide in 2001 and had dedicated 17 years of his life to the Milwaukee Police Department and to the City of Milwaukee. He was a tenured member of the Tactical Enforcement Unit and a veteran of the United States Marines Corps. Officer Rittner is a beloved member of our agency and has received a number of medals and awards.
Apparently the guy who murdered him did not die during the incident. Instead, he was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. When I googled this, I saw pictures of him crying in the court room.
That day was the first time I ever saw Marquette University Police screaming Code 3 _away_ from the campus. "What on Earth could draw them off of their ordinary jurisdiction?" ...well, I found out.
Rest in Peace Officer Matthew Rittner and we will never forget you and your family members.
RIP OFFICER 🙏

I remember watching this live 🙏❤ Semper Fi
It was very cold that afternoon but it's very important to honor the men and women of law enforcement who make the ultimate sacrifice to keep us safe.

Wow. Officer Rittner must have been loved and respected by a LOT of LEOs and their families. May they find peace and comfort in their loss so that they can continue to provide appropriate service to the community.
Damn someone could’ve did a robbery down the road and wouldn’t get caught because no cops are available 😂

Yeah I remember this ….I watched the trial!
