There are no 16TB flash drives. Not in 2023, they simply don't exist on the market yet. The largest legitimate flash drives on the market are 2TB and the real ones cost over a hundred dollars. The market is flooded with fake ones at every size. The 2TB drives for under $30 are all fake even on Amazon. If you don't believe I don't know what to tell you. Be careful. Thanks for watching.

I was ripped off by a Chinese seller on eBay. It wasn't a flash drive though. WHY do we bother doing business with them! Cheap? Yes. Quality? Heck no! The last flash drive I bought was a genuine one on Amazon. But it was $120 for 2TB.

    • @WaybackRewind

Every single one of the 16TB are fake. The overwhelming vast majority of 2TB are fake as well. If the price is cheap, it's a fake. To get a real one you have to pay market price, which as you have said, for a 2TB is currently $120.

Life hack for cheap storage: find a gently used HDD from a data center on diskprices and plug it into an enclosure or SATA-to-USB cable. Per TB, it's about half the price of pre-made external drives or a tenth of the price of flash drives.

I have bought a 16Tb pen drive from LeNovo, they didn't show on my Macintosh and there was NO way to format them BUT they did show on my friend's PC and could be formatted . I did Format them ExFAT which should have shown them on my Mac but they didn't. With Disk Doctor Utility I could see it and the computer DID measure 16 Tb but there was no way to mount the disk on the desktop and make it active.
I have returned the product and got a refund

I haven't figured out exactly how they are able to trick the computer into thinking it's 16 TB without generating errors, but I can 100% guarantee it's fake. Some day 16TB drives will exist and by then the scammers will be selling them as 500TB drives.

@@WaybackRewind I don't know how it was possible that it did seem to work on my friend's PC but it certainly DIDN'T work on my Mac. What I don't understand is the reason why of the scam. I returned it via Aliexpress without much of a fuss and the money (being a good customer) was credited to me immediately as I shipped the item. There will be some customers who don't complain and just take the loss but the vaste majority will complain and get a refund which must cost them money ( the shipping back at least) so I cannot understand the scheme .

    • @WaybackRewind
