Whether its RUclips, self employment, entrepreneurship, or your 9-5 job. You wont get anywhere if you don't push yourself and try to learn more and pursue self betterment. If you give up, you fail. You only fail when you give up. Keep at it, keep chasing the passion. Remember where you are now, or where you end up tomorrow. Now look back and see how much you've done already. You can chase and reach your goals.
The best tip for me was to set my expectations accordingly. Hearing you give the stats of where these youtubers were after 100 videos made me feel so much better. I just hit 100 this year and I was feeling insecure about my growth. Time to double down on consistency and getting 1% every time!!
I'm on my 68th video at 2.5 years and am only at 850 subs. I've been getting discouraged watching other channels in my niche get to 1K in months. Thank you for letting us know that slow growth is the rule and not the exception. Thanks a bunch!
You have such a huge presence on Twitter that I found you on Twitter first before finding you on RUclips (not a bad thing). There are so many Creator coaches that spam their channels with fluff and try and direct you to purchasing before you can be sure they have the right information and can be trusted that I had all but given up watching. Your tweets gave me the impression you were direct and worth another shot spending time watching than learning the skills I need. My channel isn’t up yet, but it will be and you can be certain I’ll be watching your channel for the right information. Thank you, Roberto! So glad I found you.
I have been supporting you since you were at around 60K. I continue to learn something with each video. I always direct people to you for the plethora of knowledge you have to share on various topics. Thanks for the years of hard work and for all the things that you do.
Thank you Roberto for the advice, I needed the extra motivation and tips I haven't implemented yet. One of my top goals at the moment, is getting over 1 min of watch time each video and then aiming for over 2 mins of watch time each video. Thanks again
I'm not really starting a new RUclips channel but reviving my main one after a long break. This was really helpful, and I mostly relate with the expectation management part. Thank you, Roberto.
Great real talk from the sith lord himself. I'm definitely going to look into the sound engineering aspect of my videos. I switched mics recently and have to recalibrate things to I'm not peaking all the time. Thanks for the video Roberto!
Bro... I started following you about a year and a half ago when I started my channel. Your advice os gold. I got monetized in just less than a year. Now I'm making money on affiliate marketing and other platforms. Bro... I appreciate you dishing out so much good information!
Thank you! I’ve watched many videos on this subject, but this one by far has been the most encouraging because there is no BS. It was actually really helpful to hear how such huge creators has low numbers even after first hundred of videos!
As always, great video. Appreciate the unvarnished no BS approach. Slow and steady always wins. Moderate expectations and make small incremental improvements over time. Thanks, again!👍
Damn dude you hit the nail on the head! Keep moving forward and ensure you're better than you were yesterday, so very true. Get better at creating engaging and appealing titles, thumbnails, and descriptions. Learn how to setup effective backdrops with lighting/sound design and all sorts of video editing tricks for your content. Definitely have a solid mic cause audio quality is HUGE and you can't skimp on it but definitely make continual progress in improving the quality of the content itself. Just keep pushing forward until you level up enough and gain enough traction to become effective and see the accumulation of your efforts! Truly appreciate this because I'm pushing full steam ahead this year!
Definitely don't give up but create with a purpose and make sure you learn from it. I was getting aggravated even questioning why RUclips was punishing my growth when I thought my content was better quality than others in my niche and been here longer than them. I realized that I'm still growing and a young grasshopper regardless of how much I think I know. I'm just starting to see how the power level of a good thumbnail is over 9000!!! I'm still improving and bruh, I'm gonna be a monster once I get better at RUclips
Growing a new channel is a slog! I have been trying to grow this channel for over a year now, and I am still a few months away from monetization. And I'm not a novice, because my main channel has around 30,000 subscribers. For me this channel was more of an experiment to understand the amount of time and effort it takes to start a completely new channel in a totally different niche.
I really appreciate the real information instead of hype. Too many people believe the hype and are disappointed and unaware of the skills needed to learn.
Thanks Roberto. I recently changed my channel to narrow my niche. Also I’ll have to go back for the lighting in my last video. Thank you for all the great advice!
I really appreciate your honesty and straight forward approach. It was encouraging to review 3 mega RUclipsr's humble beginnings. I appreciate you mentioning how hard it is to become skilled at all the things. I really struggle with the technology and trying to do it all in addition to making content. I hired people-but it's not financially sustainable (and I wonder if I'm crazy investing this much money and time). I need to learn how to edit-gulp. I've tried a few times and find it really frustrating. I'll see if you have videos on editing. I just got monetized, but most of my content isn't eligible-so I'll be working on my music and switching gears a bit. On my way. Love your advice-very helpful. Do you ever do channel reviews?
Awesome video that's relatable. It's difficult to not give up when you're not getting results! I want to encourage you to keep going. Don't listen to people, even family and friends who tell you to quit! Enjoy the process and be a fan and support other content creator's.
You brought up some great tips. Most new youtube creators (myself included) has to realize that youtube is more of a marathon than a sprint. Getting your first 100 subscribers may take a year or two of consistent work. Also, if you work a very full time job and make youtube videos part time, then it make even longer time for your channel to grow. Passion is what makes successful youtubers. Find what you like to share with the world, be consistent, and eventually you'll become successful.
Trying to be consistent posting 3 videos a week. My channel is a month old so learning as I go. The greatest thing though is that I love what I do and that is a win for me
Great advice as always,80s kid. We go way back and I always come back because you're my go-to! Thanks for all you do! P.s. Love Cobra Kai and it reminds me of you. binge watching it over
I started this channel a few years back now and the one thing i've learned the most about it - you will definitely pour money into it and unless you are already someone well known, or someone with an amazing, funny and awesome personality, you won't get good results ha. For me, it just has never happened. I always figure i'm not cut out for this. I'm always tempted to just delete everything, sell everything and forget it. To be fair, I haven't even watched your video yet, so this comment is before I finish it and i'll come back and comment again.
I'm about 8 videos in with 39 subs. And I'm fortunate because I was a musician for years before this, so the audio is an easy part for me. Let's me concentrate on the video and editing. I love how straight you keep it. Thanks for keeping it honest!
It is possible to be successful on this platform. Keep getting better with each upload and don’t compromise. Strive to be the best in your niche and it will happen. Thanks Roberto.
I was recommended to this channel on twitter, Glad I subscribed. Thanks for keeping it simple and to the point. Most helpful tip was sound and sound effects. What do do you suggest to relaunch your channel and include podcast?
This was the information I needed as I am starting a RUclips channel next week! It was the “setting my expectations for me!” Also, the 100 video plus before you even understand. Looking forward to this journey!
I agree with everything you said here. I realized that I needed everything you mentioned here when I wanted to start my channel in 2016. Then I discovered I want ready for it. I needed to master the skills even though I had the idea of many of the skills, but I wasn't efficient. Then I started out working as a freelance video editor, graphic designer, and creative writer. It opened my eye to everything you said in this video and the many videos you have been making. Thank you, Roberto.
Definitely came into the game with minimal skills in all things video creation. But I am not trying for immediate success with my Workout channel, so focused on small improvements with every video. Thanks Roberto!
This happened to my RUclips channel, but I am still pushing now. It's all been about three years, and I have not even monetized, but after watching your video am going to correct what I have been doing wrong
Awesome video Roberto! I cannot stress how important your tips are for becoming a content creator in 2022! I appreciate the constant help, and the amazing content you provide. Keep it up, and have an incredible day!!
Great Video! My channel is 2 years old and it takes a few years to become even slightly good at being a RUclipsr! And he is so right you can have more money doing almost anything else, but I love it and I am monetized as of over a year of making weekly videos, and making great content! But you have to have time and a passion for something you really love!
Roberto I got 12 videos and 40 subscribers. To be completely honest I didn’t even expect to have 1 subscriber. I don’t want overnight success. And I don’t want to grow quick. Because I feel like my channel can die just as quick if my quality isn’t there. So I’m actually trying to slow down my momentum just a tad to keep that control. After almost 3 months since my start I had to re-evaluate myself. Because I was to focused on numbers and not my videos. I made a change to quality and applied several things I’ve learned and my channel popped from 20 to 40 subscribers and from a stagnant 1200 views to now over 5000 views on my channel. My retention is up. And the comments and feedback I’ve gotten has been extremely positive. I don’t want to go any faster than I am. One last thing. Thank you for your help and replying to me when you didn’t have too man. Almost gave up a little while ago. And it was one of your replies that helped me stay the course! 👍
Everything Roberto says is correct. Zero social media & editing skills at 32. Now 3+ years later, my other monetized channel is growing fast, gets commented on the editing and got a head nod from multiple big creators. Be persistent. Just get consistently better everyday!
great content. Started a test channel last week to get my feet wet and learn the ropes. Looking to determine what my niche will be...still brainstorming on the right one for me.
Great video! The most helpful advice for me were the comments about making 100 videos and keeping your expectations in check. It really helps to remember that even for these large youtubers it took many videos to get to where they are today.
Thank you Roberto for such a helpful and motivative information. Keep making quality videos guys! Hard work will definitely get paid off. We will all be successful on RUclips in 2022! "Go out there and create something awesome today"
Clear, concise, practical advice that I found to be very helpful ESPECIALLY the advice having on realistic expectations and being prepared to commit for the long haul.
Perfectly done Roberto. I think patience, be consistent and learning new skills with every post are key points for all of us. We should all be willing to learn new skills that can go a long way for our contents. As a newbie myself, I am always keen to learn new skills and experiment new things to keep myself more engaged with my contents. And yes, my older videos are useless but I am still keeping them to reflect to what I have achieved. Take it easy mate and Stay Blessed 🙂
Long-time subscriber/admirer, hi. I've been stop and go with my YT video creations for a few years now (casual for fun but would like to build a community online for my age group, 50s Plus), and it really slows me down because every single time I have to re-learn something, ha, like you said - in editing, lighting, audio. Logically, of course, I should be more consistent and do it more often, so I can build instead of going backwards and slowing myself down by relearning things. Good momentum is definitely self-encouraging, and causing my own slowing down tends to create procrastination, or at least annoyance with myself. Also, don't know if you've made a vid on this topic yet, but any words of wisdom when you're doing it all by yourself and you have no support around you? Thanks for all your great vids, Roberto. Hi from Canada!
Very informative video. My 100th video is coming out next week and I'm currently at 476 subs. When I started my channel last year, I gave myself 5 years to reach the target of 1000 subs and 4000 watch hours. It's definitely a marathon! I've just discovered your channel and content Roberto and want to say thanks for all the clear and helpful info that you provide.
Thanks for your amazing advice and recommendations, dear Roberto. I have always learned a lot of things from you. You seem a very kind and noble person. Thanks a lot and my best greetings and wishes to you from Azerbaijan.
Yeah, I agree with your promotion coz I'm using epidemic sound both on my channels even if I'm not earning a penny yet. Just need to secure my content and of course my channel. Keep up your good content Roberto. 😊🌏
I'm loving this channel! Thank you for this! I have already learned so much in the couple of months since I started. One thing I can tell you for sure, it's a lot of work and if it isn't your passion and you don't put in the time, you won't make it. God bless you all in your efforts!
I really enjoy the value from your videos and have been subscribed to you for years, but you really should try not to repeat yourself 4-5 times in each video. This video could have been 5 min shorter without loosing any value.. If I was not listening to this in the car while driving I would have clicked away along time ago. Look at the first half of Casey Neistats video course. It really nails this. If I get suggestions between same topic from your videos and Derral or Tim I go for their videos, not because it is more value but because I know it's more straight to the point.

As someone who's reviving my channel and started being consistent as of 2022 thank you for this video. These tips are helpful and very clear.

It hard, but not impossible. Wishing the best of luck to everyone who are trying to grow on RUclips!
That’s the right attitude. Hard but not impossible.
Grateful to have you Roberto. There's a few of your videos I go back to every month or so. Really helps.
Thank you Roberto for the advice, I needed the extra motivation and tips I haven't implemented yet.

Same here!
Same
Tube Mastery and Monetization course also teaches how to start, grow, and monetize a hyper-profitable RUclips channel from complete scratch.
The most helpful part to me was stating that this is a strategic numbers game. There’s something about that that’s so comforting to me! 💕
You hit the nail on the head 20x plus. Amazing gems here for everyone
Wow, way to put things in perspective! Thanks! I needed this!!!
Thank you for the years of encouraging information! I truly appreciate you.
Literally my new favorite RUclips teacher! I am so glad youtube sent me youuuu! You rock at what you do!

Loved the tips on sound, jump cuts, bop counts, already see this making a difference in my videos❤
Definitely don't give up but create with a purpose and make sure you learn from it. I was getting aggravated even questioning why RUclips was punishing my growth when I thought my content was better quality than others in my niche and been here longer than them. Thanks a lot for sharing that I'm actually a new RUclipsr and this video help me to understand a lot of things. Thank you so much Roberto 😊
You’re welcome!

Sometimes we have to consider the capacity we have when it comes to consistency. The learning curve on some of these things is pretty steep.
Very informative video. My 100th video is coming out next week and I'm currently at 476 subs. Definitely valuable info thank you for this
I'm loving this channel! Thank you for this! I have already learned so much in the couple of months since I started. One thing I can tell you for sure, it's a lot of work and if it isn't your passion and you don't put in the time, you won't make it. God bless you all in your efforts!
great content my man ! Keep it up!
Best advice given keep going.
