I can absolutely relate to this. I spent last year filming something every day. A short video a day, 10-60 seconds. By the end of the year, I compiled everything into one big video. Nothing groundbreaking was in that video because most of the time it was my desk, or the same park, same shops. But thanks to those videos, the year 2022 exists in my records. I started this daily habit after realizing that I remembered nothing about 2021. An entire year fell off from my memory, I still can't recall anything from that year. It got lost between 2020 and 2022. So, yes. Make memories. Even if you're broke or don't travel anywhere, make memories. Record your life, take photos and videos, write down your thoughts. Your parents will age, your friends will go separate ways, you will grow and be different. Make memories of your favorite people, places and activities because that is your life. Subscribed to your channel. Love the videos, they look and sound beautiful!
It's more beneficial to train yourself to remember key moments...otherwise you're simply remembering the video of the moment as opposed to the moment itself. Videos will never be able to capture the feeling one receives from memories. The purpose is to actively push yourself to constantly remain entirely present.
@@jamk2668 That's a good point. I think memories form when something unusual happens in our life. But sometimes we just go through periods mundane days and weeks that look the same. We go to the same places and do the same things. In that case, it's harder to make any distinguishing memories. What you're saying is right. It's better to remember something rather than record it. But a record can also work as a reminder of something that happened, it can evoke feelings.
@@LifeOfRiza I knew it you both had something in common. Watching your videos had me to think about why this feels familiar like that of Jake Frew's work which I am a big fan of, keep it up Riza!
that one shot of the dust particles?? idk why it made me feels so nostalgic, better than a movie I love this video so much; that the intentional creation of these media will give us something meaningful to look back on. I made a couple bad vlogs in 2021 and stopped because they weren’t getting any views… and then rediscovered them recently and literally made me tear up. It put me back in that time of my life when I was still living at home, when my childhood dog was still alive, when I would go out on mini adventures by myself. I never realized how meaningful those silly videos would be to me in the future, and this video perfectly encapsulates why everyone should document their life in some aspect or another. Much love!! ❤
Thank you for sharing this. I used to journal quite a bit as a kid, but transitioned to digital journaling for speed. You’re right - it does take time, but it’s time well spent. I just ordered a physical journal today. I can’t wait to dive back in.
i resonated with so much of this -- i think documenting can allow us to honor our past self and celebrate the messiness and mistakes we might make along the journey. and having some way to see how you've grown can encourage you to keep moving when times get tough
Just graduated college and this video really resonated with me. Time feels like it’s passing by so quickly and I want to do everything I can do savor the beautiful moments :,) thank you for sharing this Riza - I’m so glad I found your videos and I hope more people find them too, this felt like watching a coming of age film
I don't know why this made my heart heavy... It just did! I guess at some point in time you think that 'there is something missing'.... Yes... YOU are missing... Instead of scrolling through apps, start looking back at the photos and videos you have... It makes you realise that life DOES go by quickly... And Riza... Already Subscribed 😊... My journal entries, the videos I took, the photos I save aren’t meaningless. Thank you Riza! I am going to share them starting now and i will document my life.
I’ve been talking and thinking about the process of documenting my life for a long time and started to do so in video format recently! So great to see so many people coming to a collective realisation to just start doing this for themselves but also to share with others 😊❤️
I’m always excited when you make a new video, feels like Christmas every time! In a world where you feel like you can always do more, it’s very soothing to hear that we actually have the time (and should take the time) to pause and cherish what we’re living now! 100% guilty of piling up memories on cloud storage but will definitely work on making these physical now 💛
The atmosphere in these videos is so relaxing, it's nice to see someone be so open about something that I've been struggling with. I've started documenting and will see where it leads. Look forward to the new videos
This is soOo beautiful!! ❤✨ You make me realize if documenting our life isn't just about nostalgic the past, but also about how we always remember for all of kindness and amazing things that happen in our life, so that at our lowest phase, we have a reason to stay and survive. Thank you so much Riza for this magical video.
Always seems like we're so aligned, I also just recently started to realize the importance of documenting the fleeting moments in our lives and this video was just another affirmation to continue to do it!! Your videos are always such a breath of fresh air, thanks for sharing Kariza 🙏
I've been meaning to print out my photos from my early years.... Watching this video reminded me that I need to do ASAP.... I also enjoy journaling my life experiences
I'm starting to do the same, mainly through video. What pushed me to do this was the two cancer diagnoses, alongside turning 30. I'm possibly having a quasi-mid-life crisis and I'm beginning to realise that I'm definitely going to die at some point. Is it this decade? Is it the next? Documenting, like you say, really helps me to be intentional with the time that I have. You articulated this so beautiful in this video. Thank you, I needed it
I've literally come across this same thought recently. This is very personal and relatable, you've just put it beautiful into words and visuals for us, thanks so much for sharing
About to head to SF for an internship from Toronto, Canada, and in the storm of emotions I am feeling with the uncertainty of flying alone for the first time and being in a completely new place alone, I found your videos. Thank you so much Riza, these videos have been comforting and they have been very insightful in capturing what I have been feeling recently.
Seeing this today (10/16/2022) makes me feel seen. I'm now inspired to start taking more photos and writing/journaling a bit more before my adult years. Thanks a lot.
And yes, it does go fast - I'm pushing 78 and there are gaps in my memories - mainly due to just not taking notes. Days tend to blur into an amorphous mass without definition. I need to work on that - thanks for the reminder.
I started journaling recently, and I don’t miss it. It seems like a wasted day if I don't. I love the idea of the photo album and videos too - I want to get a decent camera first though.
I cried my eyes out watching this. Made me realise how little I have to remember my years. This was so enlightening and thanks for sharing Riza. I'm excited to create photo albums with what I do have but even more excited to start taking the time to make every moment special and memorable. Thanks You.
I recently started to do the same when it comes to documenting my life. It's more intimate when you're able to see and hold an object whether it be a pen, pencil, or photos in a photo album. We use our sense of sight and feelings of touch to interact with our other senses. It's part of what makes us feel alive. Thank you for sharing.
At the end, when you read the passage, it reminds me of something my psychologist mom says: the term ‘blissful ignorance’. Pets are blissfully ignorant because they think the good times will never end and dont know about death.
I am soo grateful to come across this video! Previously, I only filmed to post the video on youtube but this has encouraged me to start filming stuff for me, just to have some documentation (not posting it cause its personal). I am also usually the kind of person to look through albums and feel happier. One of my friends from school shot some videos during our last picnic in high school, I still go back to it to have a few laughs. So I am going to have it all documented, so that I have something to look back on when times get tough. I love your videos Riza! I only found your videos this month but I've watched almost all videos and some of them even multiple times, the quality of your videos are amazing! I am inspired to make my videos look better and to put in more efforts!
hey, I'm 14 but I wish I had seen this earlier, I would really love to do this. Your right, life comes by quickly and I really appreciate this video thankyouu.
Thanks for sharing some useful insights. There's a beauty in capturing bits of our lives that we can reflect on later. It's one of the main reason I've started my RUclips channel in order to share and document my world. Thanks for the reminder on why this is so important.
your video sparked something in me, will start documenting my life from now on and.. I'll remember this afternoon and your video everytime i journal / take videos :)
i vlog my life as well, not really fancy, the process is very low maintenance because most of my videos are taken from my phone. i don't really talk on my vlogs, i just point on something i want to capture. i do this on a monthly basis as well so that when i am sad, i just watch them and see how far i have become.
I can’t believe how long i’ve been missing out on this. I love documenting everything in life especially about my kids and have always loved the nostalgic feeling that a printed photo gives but haven’t touched my instax printer for so long coz of how expensive the films are. Thanks for including everything you use in your videos in the description, not everyone does that and it goes to show how much dedication and effort you put in everything you do which in my opinion, results to perfection! I am so glad that I stumbled upon your videos and can’t stop watching all of it, even rewatching them. You have inspired me in so many ways and have definitely learned a lot just when I really needed it! Much love and so proud to know that you’re also a Filipina. Keep it up and continue to inspire ♥️
This video is gonna make me cry. I'm 27 now. And I don't have a proper archive of my life. I switched through many phones and laptops and moved houses in the past years and now the only archives I have are some pictures on Google Photos and on IG stories. You're so right, about how some years just fall off our memories. Going to start archiving myself properly. Thanks Riza!
Ordinary days and moments also sparks. Take videos and photos of everything. It is the same for me because I really like to take alot of videos and photos.
Poetry is how i document my life. I live the most i can in the moment and then i write about it. Every single time i read, i can imagine and feel everything again- it's magical
"Because we do not know when we will die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well. Yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number, really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, some afternoon that's so deeply a part of your being that you can't even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four or five times more. Perhaps not even. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps twenty. And yet it all seems limitless." - Paul Bowles
I love this. And just when you got me thinking I should get back into journaling like I've been saying, my partner came in with a blank journal I bought earlier this year and forgot about. Thank you for this!
I find it so true that we think some things are limitless in our lives. I've been having this thought often since life has been getting better for me. Love the content Riza!
this is so beautiful. I’ve always wanted to film myself but I was lazy to do it even tho I journal everyday but now I’m very well motivated to document my life. Thank you
I just came across this video and man was that beautiful. I want you to know you've rekindled a part of me that wants to take things slower and be more intentional. I hope you're doing well. Much love from the Philippines.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this and making the time to document your act of documenting. I've been feeling this at the back of my mind... that I'm sitting on archiving and trying to only create videos and photos that have a purpose. You put it so eloquently and beautifully that some things we do without a clear purpose in the moment, but it will have one in time. That was incredibly inspiring. :) P.S: I was so moved I shed tears watching this all the way to the end.
This sort of video is beautiful. The quality of the sound, lighting and the actual video is amazing - not to mention the meaning, as thats amazing, too. Thank you for being so inspiring and kind... Kudos to you! ❤
inspiring, will continue journaling and documenting my life more intentionally and live life through moments of each day more gratefully and purposefully.
Love the style of this video, and that excerpt hit me right in the feels. Life does feel limitless especially when you're young. Keep up the amazing work!
My dad used to record VHS when I was little, and recently I went and converted all those old tapes into digital format. It was such a pleasure to relive all the experiences from 20 years back. I guess this is why I recently fell in love with documenting my life and people around me. But now I cannot make up my mind if I want to go down the rabbit hole of analog photography and have those small photos, or buy a photo printer instead.
I agree that time's going by so fast...too fast...and it saddens me. I have this yearning for the past but also look forward to the future while trying to navigate the present. Suddenly, today becomes tomorrow and I'm left wondering where life went.
Riza, thank you so much for sharing your ideas. I don't know, it's so different for me comparing to other youtube channels. I don't want to compare actually, I just find your channel really really special. I literally smile when I watch your videos. Thank you!!!
I would love to see a video about your video process. These shots look effortless but I know what each one requires, and the time it takes to set these up. Your work is so good that I'm curious if your process differs from the norm. Thanks again, and since I know you're still going (and seemingly doing well) I won't wish you "good luck," instead I'll wish you more room for thought.
Thanx alot . Ive been meaning to document my life but i thought that it has to be perfect pictures or perfect edited videos. I was thinking to much but you made me see it much clear. Be blessed love😍😍✨✨
This is great! I am on my own journey to do this too. It’s so easy to just feel like you’re being swept along in this social media saturated age, but definitely Choosing to be more considered about what you let into your life is definitely a big game changer.
this is magestic, i can relate so much, i'll document my life from now on, i loved your content and im about to follow you on every platform, keep it up! cheers from argentina
If you think you have a lot of existential thoughts now just wait until you reach forty. Life goes by fast and I wish I had been better at documenting my life when I was younger. I have over twenty years of journals but I wish I had started journaling at an earlier age.
love how cinematic and structured your videos are! I started journalling again this week funnily enough but i defo want to start printing more photos again too
Recently I was thinking the same and your video inspired to document my life more. As Every moment every second as it only comes once, once gone then gone. We'll never be this young as we are now at this point in time by age. And ya documenting daily life mundane task may seem worthless now but definitely down the line after years when we read them and think about life we all would be glad that we document it!!
Watching your videos makes me feel like i'm playing a Life is Strange game haha. amazing aesthetic, production quality, and life lessons. 10/10 keep up the good work
Watching this right before bed, as if you just read me a storybook; age really is a number because though I am a 40 year old mum with 4 kids - I feel like a hopeful little girl again, now older - with renewed hope to make those those albums never got around to making🥰
I love your vlog Riza. I love how you tell your life stories, and I love how you film your videos. Thanks youtube for showing me her videos. :)))More love ..
Yay thank you for this Riza, the quote you shared stopped me in my tracks!! I love these life thought type videos… I tend to think I’m the only one who thinks so deeply, so making videos of my thoughts seems like a sweet way to connect, and yet also capture myself in time as you shared here. Kind of live journaling :)) appreciate your thoughtful content so much, you made a subscriber outta me!! 🥰🥰
I'm not even trying to make this up but... I was thinking of making a similar video along the same ideas. It's been on my mind lately. What if we stopped thinking about making "content" and actually started documenting. Been realizing that I want that to dictate my channel because I know a decade down the line, I'll be rewatching them. Also, sad that I just don't have much actually documented and stored in a good way from the past 10 years. Thank you once again for your videos. Love it!
So wholesome🥰 my heart feels full just from watching this. All the things you said really spoke to me. Thanks for reminding me how beautiful and precious life is. Well, time to appreciate every little things that life brings✨💜

Riza, thank you so much for sharing your ideas. I don't know, it's so different for me comparing to other youtube channels. I don't want to compare actually, I just find your channel really really special. I literally smile when I watch your videos. Thank you!!!
I hope u release these as podcasts too, as its quite comforting listen to ur video when i got time alone
It feels like watching a documentary or a movie. Thanks you. I felt like I wanted to learn from you.
I’ve been filming videos of my daily life everyday for the last 759 and looking back on those videos is so beautiful ☺️
Thanx alot . Ive been meaning to document my life but i thought that it has to be perfect pictures or perfect edited videos. I was thinking to much but you made me see it much clear. Be blessed love😍😍✨✨
I love your content. There is a feeling of purity and refreshness that is inspiring. Your voice also provide that calmness too.
finding your channel is the best thing that happened to me these days, you make me want to live and enjoy being present, thank you for existing💞
man.. these soundtracks are influencing my mood and perspective on the thoughts!
This is great! I am on my own journey to do this too. It’s so easy to just feel like you’re being swept along in this social media saturated age, but definitely Choosing to be more considered about what you let into your life is definitely a big game changer.
this is magestic, i can relate so much, i'll document my life from now on, i loved your content and im about to follow you on every platform, keep it up! cheers from argentina
yay! it'll be worth it when you look back on it :)
super!! You're so inspiring
You are so inspiring! Thank you so much. Please keep making videos. Watched one of your videos and can't stop watching them all.
you are beyond inspiring, kariza - we can't wait to see more of your world! ✨
love you guys :')
I totally feel you on this. 6 months ago I bought a Polaroid camera and a notebook because I had the same exact desire.
This was soooo soothing and cinematic 🥺It felt like I was watching a movie 🎥🤎
thank you! 🥺💕
If you think you have a lot of existential thoughts now just wait until you reach forty. Life goes by fast and I wish I had been better at documenting my life when I was younger. I have over twenty years of journals but I wish I had started journaling at an earlier age.
love how cinematic and structured your videos are! I started journalling again this week funnily enough but i defo want to start printing more photos again too
definitely getting back to more analog forms of documenting 👌🏼
This was such a beautiful video Riza. Thank you for sharing it with us
Your videos have such a great vibe to them! I love it.
thanks so much Flo! 😊
Thank you ! Your video moved coming in my heart.
This is so inspiring. Thank you so much for creating your channel and sharing you art! ❤
This video was a jewel. Thanks for having created it
absolutely beautifully said and shown 🥹
This is exactly what I needed, thank you for putting words to my feelings lately.
I am so at peace watching these videos. You’re amazing. Keep it up.
This is such a beautiful video. Thank you so much for sharing!
Watching your videos makes me feel like i'm playing a Life is Strange game haha. amazing aesthetic, production quality, and life lessons. 10/10 keep up the good work
Her channel is true art❤️❤️❤️
She’s a genius 💛
Watching this right before bed, as if you just read me a storybook; age really is a number because though I am a 40 year old mum with 4 kids - I feel like a hopeful little girl again, now older - with renewed hope to make those those albums never got around to making🥰
crying. in tears. relatable.
I love your vlog Riza. I love how you tell your life stories, and I love how you film your videos. Thanks youtube for showing me her videos. :)))More love ..
Aesthetic Queen! ❤
Tried searching for documenting my life inspiration and came across your video, love it
Yay thank you for this Riza, the quote you shared stopped me in my tracks!! 🥰🥰
Absolutely love this 🙌
6:01 Breathtaking shot!
I can absolutely relate to this.
Love it!
would love to see your perspective on this topic! Go for it!!
So wholesome🥰 my heart feels full just from watching this. All the things you said really spoke to me. Thanks for reminding me how beautiful and precious life is. Well, time to appreciate every little things that life brings✨💜
