Pro tip if you wanna do this challenge yourself: you don't have to lock the adult in a basement or anything like that! You can create a child sim and an adult sim, then activate cheats (press cntrl+shift+c and type testingcheats true) and then shift-click on the parent and click "remove from household". And your child can live fully alone!

i was a bit more evil lol i created my adult and my child ... then "accidently" my adult sim got eaten by cowplants too many times .... so as long as children can live alone is installed and has no other isues my child live alone ... any other in game methods to send the adult sim to netherworld should work ... just saying

tip: u can use the sulani sand in terrain paint and comb for seashells. you also can use the rewards trait “always welcome” to be a leech to ur neighbors. also u can sell the paintings from the kids drawing activity table. and lastly, the greenhouse u don’t need to pay for walls or floors. just use a few walls/columns and a roof with dirt and it counts as sheltered for all seasons!
"always welcome" seems to cheaty to why people dont use it when it comes to challenges like this, we want to make it on our own not cheat our needs up. Anyone who uses that trait doesnt like a challenge like I started as a toddler living alone to see if it will work (it kind of does but nannies will keep spawning) we want hard challenges not easy ones.
Keep digging for trash in Sulani, a lot of it is pretty valuable, and you can collect a good number of things in a short amount of time, literally anywhere sand is clickable.
Hey Satch... You're not giving the game enough time to spawn in the collectibles. That's why you can't find anything. I just usually fish for a while then go looking for frog logs and all the other spawnables.
I recently got the city living pack and it added a household in one of the apartments that was just a lone child. I entered the household and didn't get a warning or anything so it seems it was going to let me just play as a child household. I added an adult sim anyway from another household. I later realized that the sim I moved in had left her infant at her old house with her mom, who also had an infant and many other kids. I had assumed after looking at one infant and the other children that all the kids in the home were the matriarchs', I was wrong LOL. I also discovered two lone children living in Evergreen Harbor. Idk what city living did to their families.
Daycare Daphne lives in luxury. Lot of place, a trashcan, a toilet, a sink and a bath. And she even have light. She even have a sound system, a dartboard, a TV, and a game console. Child can also search for frogs and dig. With a mental skill of at least 3, they can also do some gardening. When the hygiene is already at zero, it can't get worst from another bladder failure. That's a plus... You need a mod to be able to dig in the sand anywhere outside of Sulani. Yes, make a dozen of those Health Potions. Fills the hunger need, but reduce the bladder need. DO NOT buy the scout board. Start the scout career and get it for totally FREE. The social interaction for the scout badge don't need to be with kids. They can be with any Sim from toddler, maybe even infants, to elder and ghosts. Plants out of season ? No problem. Just extend a glass roof above them. They are now sheltered. Problem solved for §0.

The best spot to collect stuff is in Island Living at the base camp by the volcano and in the desert world in the downtown location by the water. I sell my vegies to the veggie stall in the farmers land lol I cant remember the name of that world right now lol You can choose seeds by season as well. And theres a special light you can get that mounts on to the wall that stops bad nightmares for kids.
Thats it, you've made me want to start my Sims4 journey back up again. I had taken a break after hitting 1700 hours, but I cannot resist it anymore. This concept seems like TOO much fun to miss out on.
Tip to fix the greenhouse problem you had: if you delete the floor in the greenhouse you can plant everything directly into the ground inside. The plants will grow in every season and you don't have to spend any money on planters! So you can do that and sell the planters to at least get most of that money back. You can also fit them all except the trees, but if you raise the ceilings you can grow those too.
All you really need is a roof over your plants for them to grow, no need for walls or floors. And since they're free, you can make one as big as your lot even if your sim has no money.
Tips for general play, not just this let's play: (1) When a neighbor is specifically standing on your lot and the fruitcake is being held out, reset that sim to force them to drop the cake so they can't stiff you. Bonus, you can ignore or send them home AND have your cake too 😊 (2) The child gets a school bonus upon completing their project, so selling it after is fine. If you don't care about school, it can be sold for 100 simoleons as soon as kids come home with it, multiplied by however many children you have because every single child/teen comes home with one on the same exact day which is totally realistic. (3) To avoid wasting time by walking before the loading screen (They are heading toward the lot exit point) I always use the phone to instantly travel. (4) From my experience, collectibles only seem to spawn when you visit the neighborhood they appear in daily. Plants, for example, are the worst because they will only grow and produce daily if you're basically living in their neighborhood during their season--unless said plant is on a lot, and then you have to be on that lot at 7am when they progress in their season.
if you hit the M key, you are instantly taken to the map where you can fast travel anywhere. i never use the phone anymore so i can skip that animation.

You can hit "M" on the keyboard to automatically go to the Manage Worlds screen to travel instead of having to walk to a spawn location to leave a lot.
I don't have that mod for children living alone but somehow they were in homes I didn't play and I thought they were an occult just looking like a kid for a disguise. Turns out they had 6 dogs and weren't in an occult. So I'm still confused.
The easiest way to do a challenge like this (and only using actual cheat codes to reduce your starting money to zero) is to put the kid into a club (Get Together). Once you can afford a single easel, the club members can start painting and that's your money prooblems solved. You can also quickly unlock "Rally the Troops" so the child will never need to eat, sleep or go to the toilet again.
We have 3 packs that are supposed to include kids, growing together, family pack and kids stuff and somehow there is still barely anything to do as a child. lol
Satch PLEASE let the plants and frog logs LOAD before you leave the lot 😩😩 🐸 it takes a minute for them to spawn! also if anyone hasn’t told you, put a roof tile down and grow your plants under that, they’ll be “indoors” and will grow no matter the season
you can just zoom out from the lot and click on the travel icon when it appears, this way sims don’t have to walk all the way to the lot’s edge to travel

Can dig in the crystal/fossile rocks, but not the dirt patches. Can beach comb in Sulany. Anywhere there is sand with the «Beach Comb Anywhere» mod. Can do any gardening with a Mental skill at 4, maybe 5, or more. Yes, they can breed frogs. Need to test if toddlers can do it if you place some frogs in their inventory...

Theres a garden in willow creek near the park or daisy hovel i think and you can harvest the fruits and sell them for quite a bit if theyre in season!

You can have a sim eat spoiled food by carefully avoiding the very last bite. It's a bit cheaty I guess, but if it's in the game....

Yes, they can breed frogs. Need to test if toddlers can do it if you place some frogs in their inventory...
