Remove your tape before paint dries, that way it does not rip the paint off with it. Also you should apply stain with a cloth so it goes on evenly with control, ❤
If you hold the paint brush like holding a pen, you can control the brush better and paint straight lines, and you won't get paint on any other edges. I really like the darker stain it's a lovely contrast xxx
Buy lots of plates at the thrift shop to put your flower pots on. It’s harder to get the stains out than in so a plate will ensure that from happening. 😊
My husband put shelves half way up my windows made of glass and I keep all my house herbs and house plants in them. They love all the light and it does not take away from the light coming in.
Phew phew stands guard and over sees construction, making sure finding problems and fixing. Don’t you just love these birds I find it rather sweet. You are stressing over nothing ❤❤blessings
Next time try the blue masking tape or ask which color they have for painted wall. It is special for making separate colors or other type of work that doesn't ruin the previous paint
It is funny to hear how nervous everyone is about splashing stain on the pristine walls! Everyone cares so much for you they want to take the brush and help! Ha ha!
The colour of electrical outlets is just fine, you want them to disppear out of sight, they are not decorative. The more contrast you have throughout a room makes the look almost chaotic. What you have chosen is more in keeping to the walls snd that is prrfect. A calmer feeling space is a more comfortable space!
Yes Despina we like😂 Don’t worry so much about the stain being uneven, when it’s too even it looks like plastic/fake wood. Wipe it with a cloth when it’s too much (not a cloth that leaves lint or fluff) but imho it looks very nice!❤ Also, the paint tape needs to be removed when the paint is barely touch dry like within 15-20 minutes of paiting.
paint peeled off that window cause guess why , the drywall is backwards, the white side is made to prevent that, the back part is not, is more prone to bubble if it gets wet even peel off
No, it's not. Go back to their video Walls are Getting Covered. White side facing the room, brown side facing the outdoors. You'll also see that the white side paper wraps around onto the brown side to tell an installer it's the backside. Oftentimes, that side is also marked that way so there's less chance of installing it backwards. The only thing they should have done different was prime it first so it didn't soak up any paint.
@@raecrowe9514 Go back and watch the video. That particular piece is backwards. I checked. The 'dirty' side got painted. All of the green board is backwards too. ✔
There is a product here in Canada which has stain and varnish in one can. No need to do separate steps. Looking great! A beautiful place to read and relax…
A multi purpose scraper/chopper tool: 6" wide with handle; originally intended for kitchen use, can be held to help keep paint or stain controlled. No tape necessary for small jobs, and touch ups
Score the edges of your tape with a blade before removing it especially around your plasterboard (we call it dry wall also). The room is absolutely great! Good work and thank your for sharing with us.
You need to make a checklist for each type of project. Examples: . Interior walls with windows and door . Exterior walls with windows and door . Interior wood objects Etc. Then for each of those project types, make an order of tasks to complete it. Example: . Interior walls: 1. Determine overall dimensions 2. Determine where windows and/or doors will be 3. Prep wood and install framework (studs and pieces between them) 4. Prep wood and frame in windows and doors 5. Determine lighting and electrical needs 6. Install insulation 7. Determine moldings/edging 8. Install wall surface (i.e. plasterboard) 9. Mud plasterboard 10. Prep moldings/edging/sills/etc and put finish on them 11. Etc. For each new project, print out the checklist for that project type. Check off the steps as you complete them. No chance of forgetting to do something, like finishing molding and such before installing!
Should have used a cloth to wipe your stain on. More control of the depth of the color, and minimal risk of drips and splatters. Same goes for your sealant. Highly recommend something like Minwax Wipe-On Poly. And why did you not pin nail that piece of flooring that came up with your painter's tape?
Might give it a try next time! This flooring can't be glued or nailed down it's a floating floor! The piece that came off will be held in place by trim around the room!
" WHY Do We Always MAKE The SAME MISTAKES!? " The answer to your question is simple; Davide's number one priority is speed. Until he decides to slow down and fully think construction steps through to the final product, according to established methods, you will continue to make the same mistakes. Your followers who care to offer guidance are not stupid people. You should pay attention to experience. The projects you do are not unique. Everything you are doing has been done before - more efficiently and resulting in a better quality product. If you continue to try to "outsmart construction systems", you will continue to waste time doing reworks or live with an inferior product. For instance, the paint peeled away from the drywall with the masking tape because the wrong side of the drywall was painted. The paper on the front and back is different for a reason. You just found that out the hard way. Result - more rework. Change your habit from SPEED to EFFICIENCY ✔
I agree with you. David is to hyper he needs to slow down a bit and pay attention to detail. To me he’s a smart guy but makes too many careless mistakes. I hope he pay attention to suggestions.
This video was so relatable. I'm trying to do DIY in our old cottage here in Ireland. Between the house and the garden, I always make mistakes... and then repeat the same mistakes! It's ok though, we'll eventually learn 😅 So excited to see how you cover up the edges and corners! ❤
Use quarter round to fix the corners where the tape pulled the paint. Cut the quarter round to fit and paint it before actually installing. It will give it a more finished look also.
No problem. You might try to sand that area by hand where the sanding was different. (After all is dry of course, and apply stain with rag to rub it in.). The color looks great. I would use shellac or polyeurathane on to protect the wood.
honestly i do not understand the way you do plaster boards I would do two layers of 1.6 mm plasterboard's overlapping then i would speckle spartel EVERYTHING every gap between boards, between boards and wall and every connection between boards. Also i would use plaster to close the corners. When everything was completely sealed in plaster and plaster boards i would sand it down make the corners and edges sharp and uniform. Then i would clue everything up and put a layer of fibrous tissue don't know if that is the correct English word it's big rolls of kindda fiber tissue that strengthens the plaster and makes it easier to paint and it takes the paint better.
Once the stain dries a few days you can hand sand them. I used to have a woodworking business. You can totally even it out. I had windows do that that had not dried evenly. The stain is beautiful. A good Danish wood oil would be a beautiful finish also. But it looks great
That stain color is beautiful. It doesn’t look orange at all. Looks dark chocolate it’s beautiful. I’m curious how you gonna do the corners 😳🤔. Also you could try using a nail-gun instead of using those screws it will look a nicer finish
That gap by the exterior door window is way too wide for any quarter round I've ever seen, but there is cove moulding that would work. However, the proper solution is to install a new piece of sheetrock wide enough to butt up against the adjacent wall to close that gap.
The surface mounted outlets are a terrible choice for new construction. They are a lazy way of not using the correct rough-in. The stain slopped onto the white paint around the window sills is another unnecessary rework. There was no need to glue the sills in place. Wasted time and materials that prevented the removal of the sills for stain and finishing. Consequence of not thinking things through and following established methods [ wood sill + wood extension jambs + wood moulding ].
One could think that modern human is so developed, that they might learn from past mistakes!? Just kidding, don't break a leg! It's not that important! The space between the cuts on the boards is just a bit big, don't you think!? Maybe take a more exact measurement and better cut!?
I don't understand why with the amount of decorating you have done why you have not learned to do edges around windows and corners first and back to front. That way you can balance your hand steady whilst doing the intricate parts you need to be careful with. And round the edges a smaller brush to get neatly by the edges.
Remove your tape before paint dries, that way it does not rip the paint off with it. Also you should apply stain with a cloth so it goes on evenly with control, ❤
I love the contrast of the stain and white paint😊
I learned that the hard way about the tape. But it's not something that can't be fixed. Love this couple. 🥰
I would have kept the wood natural. Stain I thought was applied with a cloth not painted on, but I’m not a painter.
That's a nice room with a lot of light. You can use it for starting your plants in spring. I use my window sill as well.
If you hold the paint brush like holding a pen, you can control the brush better and paint straight lines, and you won't get paint on any other edges.
I really like the darker stain it's a lovely contrast xxx
So funny that the geese are always peeking in the windows when you are working inside the tower room🤣🤣🤣
A journal will help you remember what to and what not to do.😊
Buy lots of plates at the thrift shop to put your flower pots on. It’s harder to get the stains out than in so a plate will ensure that from happening. 😊
When using masking tape during painting, you have to remove it right away. Right after applying the paint..😮
My husband put shelves half way up my windows made of glass and I keep all my house herbs and house plants in them. They love all the light and it does not take away from the light coming in.
Next time use blue masking tape as it is made for painting as it comes off easier. Put the wood on after you have put the sheet rock.
I like the window ledges... and yes to the clear coating. You'll be glad you did. 🎉
Phew phew stands guard and over sees construction, making sure finding problems and fixing. Don’t you just love these birds I find it rather sweet. You are stressing over nothing ❤❤blessings
Sharon here... I think you both did a fine job! Stain looks great with the floor color. Now on to the trim! See you next video!
Why do you always make the same mistakes? Because you are excited and get ahead of yourselves. We all do it! Just be glad you caught it!
Ha ha!
It is true, a paint brush is not a scrub brush, hold the brush gently and pull it in the direction you are going.
Why have you not filled in all the holes before painting.
The dark stain really makes the grain of the wood pop! Love it!
It is all good. Just remember to laugh more than cry.

Dark brown stain is much better than the raw wood

Love the dark stain on the window sills !!! It’s beautiful ❤❤❤❤
I would definitely clear coat the sills for better protection 👍.
Yes, maybe wait until warmer weather (less condensation makes a better finish, easier).
You have to do the edges with tape and compound
A multi purpose scraper/chopper tool: 6" wide with handle; originally intended for kitchen use, can be held to help keep paint or stain controlled. No tape necessary for small jobs, and touch ups
Definitely put a finish on the window sills. Three coats should do it and protect them from whatever you set on them.

hold a trowel or hard paper against the surface you don't want to paint, or use a sponge and paint with instead of a brush
I like the color and how it pulls out the grain.
They are not mistakes they are lessons.

When staining use a lint free rag, it’s much easier
Just curious, why are windows different heights?

Clear stain would have been my pick. Seeing the floor color I see what you guys were working towards.
dilute the stain, will make it not so thick cover like paint
My two year old nephew loves what he calls white ducks looking in the window
Looks great 👍🏽 happy holidays 🌲 Rick from California
It's looking fantastic! You are doing such a great job!
I think it would be good to clear coat it.
Everything is looking so beautiful! It’s going to be extra lovely once you get plants on the window sills. 😀
