WOW, Gabby and Angie; this was a GREAT interview. Both of you just helped some ladies, friendship, mindset, funny bone and the feeling of "shared LOVE".
I read her book and it’s really good. I saw her at a book club meeting in Atlanta, GA. She is the nicest person. I also bought a lot of her hair products from her hair line. I wish her the best.
Just like Jenifer Lewis book I went into this one thinking it was going to be something i liked oh, boy was I wrong ( I prefer Jenifer's over this one though) . I thought this book would answer alot of questions for me along with things I've heard. The story, started off blan I didn't think i needed a glass of wine for this sh*t. Her miscarriages and rape were the saddest things I read through the book. It's funny how she tried to justify her mean girl attitude but didn't aplogize for it. The back and forth through different parts of her life confused the hell out of me from high school, to college , to rushed wedding to high school again WTF!!!!.... Acting didn't come easy for her but when she got her foot in the door it's like she was playing the same roles over and over again the mean , controlling, black b*tch, that has alot going on internally. Alot of stuff was missing in this book for me such as how she and Dewayne handled his break baby, why couldn't she start a kick starter for being Mary Jane to continue / be better , how she meet her famous actress friends (such as sanna Lathan, Regina Hall , and Nia Long . Overall it was good she shed light on racism , colorism, and not having children. The meeting PRINCE and the homeless actor were the most interesting parts of the book for me. I knew this broad was crazy when she got married to a negro who proposed to her over kfc lmao. That whole marriage was a hot damn mess and she Still carried that negro after they broke up, she comes off as low self esteem-ish and the type who's scared to be alone. She carried that whole marriage just so she wouldn't be humiliated. I,feel she's not the best when it comes relationships. I wish she would've talked about A.J JOHNSON (FROM BABY BOY AND OTHER CULT CLASSICS) BEING HER LIFE COACH HONESTLY HER ARTICLE IN ESSENCE WAS BETTER THAN THIS. Hopefully when someone writes her memoir it will be better than this she's still a mean .... yet semi smart girl in my eyes.
