I learn so much by watching you. Thank you for being so thorough in your descriptions and walk through of what you're applying and how to apply it. I can't wait to buy more colors to work with and add new media.
I tend to have a heavy hand because I love bold jewel tones when possible. Thanks to this tutorial I may be able to soften up my approach. I have seen this very soft background done in many pictures and I have always loved the misty effect. Thank you so much for the enjoyable lesson. The music is great too! I'm gonna do it!
I love the color combo. I colored this page already, so I will use it in another picture. It is so lovely that we are able to go back to older books. Thank you for sharing your teaching. 🌼
I love your color choices. The background is so pretty. I have such trouble with backgrounds. Thanks for another great tutorial. You were the first person who taught me tips, tricks & techniques for coloring. I hope you are having a great vacation!
Gosh, Peta ! I wish I had YOUR PATIENCE !!! I love coloring and it is an excellent exercise for me, according to my physiotherapist; I already had a stroke and a cerebral aneurysm. The facts I am still able to talk and walk ( slower now, but hey !!!! ) is in itself a small miracle !!!! 😂😉🦋
I am new... to everything. I was surprised you began with the back ground and find it to be very useful tip of starting with lighter colors to not draw darker colors into it. It makes sense. Thanks.
I can barely contain myself Whoo hoo hope there is more to come have missed you sooooooo excited 😊 gorgeous picture can't wait to follow this tutorial ❤️🌷🌟💕Tanya x
Watched this entire video (plus 20 others). Learned ALOT. Ordered the book just so I could follow and maybe get the hang of this. I'm one of those whose pictures look like childrens work. I'm going to faithfully follow this entire series on Flowers. Wish me luck. LOL
Yay! Excited to see a new tutorial from you, Peta. I just received my copy of this book and it is so lovely. The picutures you have completed in it are beautiful!
This is so exciting! Haven’t been able to colour as much latterly, I have two horses and a job and two children lol however I have two weeks holidays over Xmas and we are travelling and I can’t wait to take my pencils and books with me and do some colouring... thanks so much for inspiring us all over again. Beautiful work Peta!
I enjoy and learn much from.your style of demonstrations . I particularly like how you demonstrate the first slwer first layers and then speed up some since colored pencil is a slow process. I also like not having to hear constant unnessary chatting with other people. I love your work and would like to see some of your own original art work
I always enjoy watching your videos for the valuable tips. You always give the 'why' with the 'how' info, so I feel as though what I’m learning and practising can transfer to other pages. I’ve never attempted a variated, pink background before so enjoyed this part of the video, especially. Thank you. 😃 💕💕
You never faill to provide outstanding tutorials. I have a handful of this type of vedios I watch and you are definaty among my favorites . I have learned so much from you. You are a great teacher . I appreciate that you are not like so many I see with all the gaudy nails , waving hands , unuseful talking and cliches .
So pleased to see a tutorial by Peta Hewitt. I put other work aside to start this picture. Glad you are better as we have all missed you. I know you must be a busy lady but any chance knowing when 2nd part will be uploaded. Hate being impatient. Xx
Thank you for sharing and i learn alot on how to apply the colors , shading and also the mixture of those colors. You are just awesome. I really get inspired and again thank you.........
Thank you very much for this. I have just invested in the full set of Polychromos and the World of Flowers book. I could not believe my luck when I found your videos. Sooo helpful xxx
You're tutorials are super helpful. I like how thorough you are with your art and I have learned so much from you. Thank you Peta. I hope you are doing well? Take care ♡
Wonderful tutorial...I love the way that you explain all of your steps so well, we really get a good understanding of your thought process that way...everything makes sense...Thsnk you for taking the time to put together such a detailed tutorial...Much appreciated....All the best to you, Cathy, Nova Scotia, Canada
Absolutely beautiful, you are so talented. I have the book and the pencils but I bet my work of art looks absolutely nothing like yours!😀 thank you for sharing your time, you are a brilliant teacher xx
Wow, this is beautiful, I love the brightness. I am going to try and recreate this page but with the Prismacolor pencils I have, eek!! I really do hope you will create some more videos from this World of Flowers book as it certainly helps us beginners :)
I'm thrilled that you're back doing tutorials. You always have the best info and content. Knowing the actual time it takes to accomplish various parts of coloring a page is so helpful.
Lovely to see you again, your videos are always instructional with excellent content. You set me wondering about dupes for the Polychromos light violet. I have one which must have been in a set I bought years ago. I got out all my pencils and after swatching them these are the closest. Unfortunately they are not open stock. The following are close but not identical: Holbein Wisteria, and Irojiten Verbena. Of a similar lightness in the lilac lavender range are Derwent Artists Light Violet, And Derwent Artists Soft Violet but these are more to the pink side. Does anyone have any more suggestions. Polychromos light Violet is really hard to duplicate. Once again thanks for the video.
Thanks I'll check it out. I though the Luminance Light Violet also looked similar but it was hard to tell from the on line pictures. I'll let you know what I find out best wishes.
I so enjoy your tutorials , your voice is so calming thank you so much for sharing MS Peta💖❣️✨👍🏻 Ps: do you know of any sales or code- discounts on the Fabre-castle polychromous? Also do you use the pencil extenders for your color pencils? Also what is your favorite pencil sharpener , I love the “black wing “ style, I wish I could find a nice desk top pencil sharpener that won’t chew up my pencils 😃😊💐
Hi Peta. Good to see you again. (Yes, I know I only saw your hands.) Thank you for another lovely tutorial. I am sitting on my hands waiting for part 2! I have the same smearing problem. I also tend to smear when I brush the "fall out" off the page. Irritating to say the least. I have been curious of that partial glove myself. I have the shortest fingers. Strong hands, so they are wide, but short. I always worry what size to get. Hands are medium wide, but extra small for finger length. Hmm..... Thanx again, Mindy
You should be right with the standard size of the ones from China. The wide won't matter so much because they are stretchy. it's the length of the fingers that matter I think. For brushing dust off the page try using a large soft make up brush. A lot of my friends use that and find it's very clean.
Thank you. I appreciate your opinion. Sometimes that's all it takes, is just someone who has used something, or has at least tried it. Thanx again, Mindy
I absolutely love your tutorials and can’t wait till part two. But I have a quick question... your background looks fuzzy, how did u get that effect? Thanks and God bless

I am Japanese. I'm sorry, my English is not good. It is a fan of your coloring book from before. The video of this time was also very helpful. Thank you.
Hi Peta, what a great video - very helpful, thank you! I find the light magenta one of the most versatile Polychromos pencils. However, there is not a good range of violet colours and I struggle to supplement them with other brands as I can't afford to buy full sets. Anyway, thanks again for the tutorial 👍
I know this was filmed almost 2 years ago… would you be able to post on the screen the information on the pencil you are currently working. I’m fairly new at this… and it would help tremendously. If possible… on another note, your work is inspiring! The color combinations you use is beautiful. Keep up the great work.
Hey Peta! My name is Jennifer (I’m using my husband’s phone right now which is why it says his name but my name is not Josh and I don’t have a beard like the picture... lol 😂 😂 😂). But I love how you have colored the background so far! It is absolutely gorgeous! I have always adored your backgrounds. I’ve followed you since the very, very beginning on my account (Jennifer Thomas) as well as my husbands’ when my phone is dead on the charger...lol) so you kind of get two subscribers in one from me. 😂 but I love the fact that you give the backgrounds as much attention as the actual line art. It’s a big white, blank space to really let your artist flag fly and I love working on them... especially before I color in the line art. Sometimes you find that it looks great when you only color the background and leave the beautiful line art white. But I love the way you have done this background. The pinks and purples re stunning around the flowers. It’s so pretty and pastel. Can’t wait to see how the finished page turns out. Anyhow, thank you so much for doing this wreath of flowers by Johanna. I don’t have the world of flowers yet although it is definitely going to be a future purchase as well as ivy and the butterfly. Those are the only two I don’t have. But I have recently been working in the magical jungle and this tutorial is really helping me get inspired and showing me ways to color the many flowers and other flora within it. I thought that you were going to do a tutorial in the magical jungle but I know you had a lot going on and that didn’t happen and in the meantime, Johanna brought out two more books!!!! She’s popping them out so fast that we can’t keep up! Lol but hey the more the merrier.. we all love our Johanna Bradford books! But I hope that the magical jungle isn’t too irrelevant now that she has two newer books out now but if it isn’t... I would love to see you do a tutorial in the magical jungle and eventually maybe one in the ivy and the butterfly book. Then you will have a tutorial in every one of Johanna’s books except her first, the secret garden of course and her Johanna’s Christmas. I just recently bought Johanna’s Christmas this past Christmas. I just love collecting and coloring in all her books and definitely want to have them all! But if you do find the time... I know it’s got to be a lot of work to not just color and explain as you go in an organized manner but to also film and edit the entire thing as well. Even with your husbands help... I know it’s a lot especially since y’all both work full time jobs as well! I don’t know how y’all do it all! But we really appreciate all your hard work and how you keep your creative juices flowing on top of all that work is beyond me! You’re amazing and we love you! But I’d love to see a magical jungle tutorial and a ivy and the butterfly so that once I buy it I can catch up as well! Thanks Peta!💕
PETA, Lyra Polycolour has a light violet in their range. They are available open stock in South Africa. If you can get them in Australia, it might be worth your while looking at the colour.
Love the tutorial peta. Just a question as a beginner should i stick with my 24 Faber castell classic or save up to buy polychromos or prismacolor or even Derwent
So happy to see another tutorial! Thank you for sharing! I have a 36 set of the polychromos but was thinking about buying some extra colours. What would you recommend? :)
I also started with a 36 set. It depends on what you like colouring. I completely agree with Rowan, there isn't any really suitable colours for skin tones in the 36 set so if you intend to colour people you will want to invest in flesh, cinnamon and warm browns for a variety of different skin colourations. And green definitely. I bought almost all of the different greens first because i like colouring in nature. Permanant green olive is my go to green for a natural looking shade. I also recommend Ivory... I go through a lot of Ivory, light cobalt turquoise and warm grey II.
I love your channel, I don’t have polychromos put I do have prismas. I love the picture and will be doing it😍would you consider doing a book collection tour? I understand you have a lot on your mind so no worries❤️📚
That would be a very long video. I have posted most of what I've coloured recently in two videos. Much of my collection remains sadly untouched by pencil. I'll put it on the list of future ideas.
Peta Hewitt If you had a 10 hour long video, I would watch the whole thing! Love all your videos and I keep going through all your videos over and over again, watching them while I colour is something that I love to do.📚🖍
Hi Peta. Thank you for this....inspirational. My mojo is mia since my new widow status....this gives me some joy. Im new to this, also new to Oz. Where do you live? Thank you again...Im now a folllower😊
Your such a marvelous colorist Peta...love your video and the way you teach us. Best wishes from Montreal, Quebec (Canada)...The semi glove that you have, is that for not smearing the color ?
Yes, that is what I use it for. But I think it was designed for people who work on tablet screens to stop the tablet from being confused by their palm resting on the surface. I'm not positive, though.
Wonderful tutorial, as always. Your generosity in sharing your knowledge is greatly appreciated.
This is so good! I have Just sent for World Of Flowers. Can't wait to color as you have shown in your video . Thank you Peta Take care Sara x

Hi Peta.
Good to see you again. (Yes, I know I only saw your hands.)
Thank you for another lovely tutorial.
Hmm.....
Thanx again,
Mindy
You should be right with the standard size of the ones from China. The wide won't matter so much because they are stretchy. it's the length of the fingers that matter I think. For brushing dust off the page try using a large soft make up brush. A lot of my friends use that and find it's very clean.
Thank you. I appreciate your opinion. Sometimes that's all it takes, is just someone who has used something, or has at least tried it.
