      Aye bro Im setting my home studio to start mixing vocals and im interested in learn more about how to do reverb and delay automation on hiphop/trap music. I watch many tutorials but it wasnt rap/trap music. Wont the delay automatic make the mix muffle ? or show i do and paraellel processing on the delays and reverbs? Im tryna get my mix as professional as possible. If you can help me make a tutorial showing which ones work best with the current style or rappering i will appreciate it bro💯 i want my mix to be clean and have space in the mix without mixing up my sound. Thx bro you the best your tutorial be very educational and i was my production to sound like your maybe in a couple years lol

    • @SeanDivine
      @SeanDivine 7 лет назад +1

      Hey Danny, I'll see if I can create more videos for using delay on rap vocals! If you want to make sure the reverb and delay aren't muddying up your mix, it's important to EQ them. You'll want to rolloff some low and high end to keep the vocal upfront.

    • @SeanDivine

      up to you! I typically use shorter (smaller) spaces for rap, you could always go bigger and sidechain it for a less washy sound :)

    Great vid but consider automating your delay on the chorus so it only reacts to the lengthier words. The delay sounds a bit messy during the tighter sections.

    Hi sean, awesome videos bro,,,when i eq the reverb on bus according to your parameters, i noticed, eqing not only changes the reverb but the whole sound. n i think, to some extent it has a bad effect on vocal,s dynamics. any tip for me. or engineer should eq the reverb according to his taste(is it all about finding sweet spot). love from Pak.

    • @SeanDivine
      @SeanDivine 7 лет назад +1

      Hi Ahsan, EQIng the reverb on the aux won't change the sound of the original channel if you're using a send to bus to the aux track. You also want to use the send sparingly (don't send too much signal to the reverb). You need to mix it taste but using reverb this way should only give you more flexibility than using an insert.

    @Buzzbeatspro 7 лет назад

    Hey Sean, i have a question... Do you compress and process all the reverbs and delays by routing them to a new Aux track, let's say All EFX Bus, when final mixing a song? I found that it gives more life to the said effects but not sure if i am doing it the right way, so if you can share your own experience and some tips, if any, could be great. Thanks!

    • @SeanDivine
      @SeanDivine 7 лет назад +2

      Hey Buzz, if I understand your question the answer is no. I wouldn't further process all reverbs, delays, etc. especially on the same bus. That said, there are no rules in mixing so if it works for you and sounds good, it is good!

  • @MercedesA45s-v7u
    @MercedesA45s-v7u 7 лет назад +1

    wouldnt it be easier to work with a sidechain reverb in the hook? that would give u nearly the same effect or not?

  • @kevinc6722
    @kevinc6722 7 лет назад +1

    I'm confused. It sounds like there is an echo when you're using the reverb on the hook. Are you not using something like echo boy on the track as well? I watch "how to create echoes and delay throws" and it has a similar sound if not the same sound.

    Whats your personal opinion of space designer and plat verb? I've been engineering with them for about two years and I can never get a lush sound like your reverb. Do you think I'm simplify using it wrong, or those reverbs aren't as high quality as these?

    • @SeanDivine
      @SeanDivine 7 лет назад +1

      space designer is a good stock reverb, lots of presets. You can try some of the large space presets to get lush sounds. Platinum verb is more of a utility reverb. I use it occasionally and with subtlety on things like percussion as it's light on CPU.
