I re-watched this video today and I’m impressed with the nice woody tone of that LP Custom (in addition to this great video of a song that is so much fun to play live!)
Thanks JJ. Always helpful for finding new stuff for my students. It sounds that he's only playing 2 open A string hits in the riff instead of 3, but my computer speakers are terrible.
2nd time around on the chorus play a quick low E power chord before the two F's, two G's, and the single A power chord that rings on for a couple beats before going back to the verse. The timing of that low E power chord is crucial to keep the proper rhythm.
How you doing James? Until I started playing that riff, the end of it sounds like that SRV blues song. The name escapes me, but it's 5A to 7A, then 7DG and 5DG, right?
Love you Mick Ralphs!
highsschool ....8 track player Jensen coaxials cranked on the rear deck. a joint gets lit as we roll into the cruise section of town. perfect.
Great lesson…that toggle on the open “A” string is key…Mick Ralphs is criminally underrated.
LOVE Bad Company
The Iconic sound of Bad Co. The band I fronted for in the 80s. We did 4 of there songs. Kick ass band.
Super Lesson!! James! Thank You!!!
Great lesson video, thanks for making this video!
Awesome job on one of my favorite Bad Company songs...and the list is long...Mick is such a tasty player...He and Billy Gibbons...
Great riff!

Hi James, those old live Bad company's are pretty cool and Paul and his tight pants. I have a live Bad CO's live and that riff sounds so good.
Great stuff J J 👍 Don Kirshners show is the reason I play guitar today. I Grew up on Bad Company, love their stuff 👍🙏
A good guitar player tunes each of his strings so it sounds right to his own ears, great advice from J.J., and another fine lesson. Thanks.
You're really going through my back catalogue of teenage favourites at the moment, love it, what a great band!
Miss you James! 👍😎
I'm half tempted to ask you to do a video on your t-shirt collection. Thanks again for these great lessons.
I’m half tempted to tell you I already posted a video like that.
@@jamesjames9275 Hah! I'll go find it. Enjoy the weekend.
Just watched it!
Absolutely right about that start. It was really messing with me fir a few. Great video!
Thanks for the lesson 😊
The Black Beauty is singing super sweet this evening.
Mick Ralphs always had great tone! Have you ever owned a LP Jr or something with P-90’s JJ? Seems it’d be right up your sonic alley! Cheers!!
Love the shirt today!
“Mott the Hoople’s debut album in 1969 is one of my favorite albums thanks to the raw guitar talent of Mick Ralph’s.”
Lessons thank you for the lessons

Cold Shot?
@@jamesjames9275 You probably know every song ever made because you've played them all, lol.
It's such a great riff that Im always disappointed when it's time to go into the chords, sometimes I dont...I just keep playing the riff.
Did Ted copy that lick for Stranglehold???
Its been said "There is no original thought".
I've always wondered why bands do confusing, off-beat beginnings to their songs. What's the point?
That’s why
Hi James
