THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING like the man running away and the girl being nice and the luring her reminds me of Rapunzel, and the transformation reminded me of Moana
For those who don't know, Mavka is a "mermaid" from Slavic mythology In Slavic tales they have many names depend on what Slavic nation we are talking about, they can be called mavka, rusaka, vila, mamuna and some more They're considered to be nature spirits like nymphs in Greek mythology, but they usually come from drown young women, often suicides and heart broken They're evil spirits they can drown a man searching for their beloved, call a young woman to lakes and swamps, so they drown and become one of them, in other stories they can tickle you to death or make you lost in the forest Also they're connected with Slavic goddess Makosh or Mokosh who is considered to be a femine goddes, rituals in her are name usually committed near lakes or wells
In fact...a mavka and a mermaid are different creatures in our mythology. Mermaids live in the water, and mavkas live in the forest, in the field and in the meadow. And one more difference - mavkas do not have a back 🙂 More precisely, there is no skin on the back. According to myths, a mavka can bewitch you, but if you have time to look at its back, there is a chance to save yourself. Oh, yes, and one more little fact - there is a Chugaister creature living in the woods and he eats mavkas😊

I think they are basing that on lucifers fall and making assumptions; or maybe some specific branches of Christianity teach it that way, though fallen angels act in a similar fashion to demons tempting humans to sin and such so its not like there isn't any overlap but demons specifically are considered something else entirely. Fallen angels were once pure and holy but are now corrupted. Demons were born of sin and evil. They were never pure; they exist as and of sin.
