Hey Nick. Very useful channel you have :) I would also like to see a vid on changing out the CV joints. I am not putting the drop in because I only have around 40mm lift but fear I may need to change a cv in the bush one day.
Gday Nick, thanks for the video . I followed it and just fitted a diff drop kit to my 2013 Mux. I know this question was asked a couple of years ago, just wondering if you got yourself a rear bash plate yet? Cheers mate.
It would be good if there was a kit that fixed the diff alignment issue. I'm convinced thats what causes so many breakages. I have done a 50mm lift, diff drop and front locker and still blow CVs. The diff sits back from between the hubs so is always on an angle.
Hey nick. I got the same one for the dmax. The holes for cross member don’t line up. Did you have this problem? Drill em out bigger?? Your advice would be appreciated. Thanks
@John & Deb Payrits I didn’t get the munji diff drop.I had already purchased a PSR one before the new munji diff drop and relocation kit came out came out.
Hi Nick Love your videos. I am in the process to install a diff drop (like yours) on my Dmax , fews questions: how much torque NM do you tighten the four bolts on the cross bar and the two long ones to the chassis? In the kit there is an oval sort of washer ...any use for it? i have not see you using it . Thanks Al
Not sure on the actual torque for the bolts. Just do them up nice and tight haha. I think the oval spacer is to raise the diff 5mm if you don't have as much lift and don't need the diff dropped the whole 30mm.
@@LowRangeNick Many thanks for the prompt answer. I won't stress out about that washer, and plenty of loctite as per your video. .... now I just got to instal it. Cheers
i installed mine myself, looks like there is a gap between the diff mount and the spacer is that correct? never done anything like it before just want to know it's ok
Hey David, if you have tightened up all the bolts and the diff doesn't have any movement it should be OK. It might look like there is a small gap because of the diff bush tube that it tightens up against.
Thanks for all your fitting videos. We are gradually following them. Next is a snorkel. Next year i’m planning a front Lokka auto-locker ($600). Perfect for an MU-X with IFS. Any chance you are planning one?
LowRangeNick Thanks for your reply. One of the things I like about an auto locker on the front is you get to keep good steering on corners. It will also stay unlocked in 2wd mode. About the only disadvantage i can think of is an icy road where it may be counterproductive due to the low friction failing to unlock on a corner. Not too much ice in QLD thou.
Hi Nick, got a question: wouldn't a fully adjustable upper control arm will help the CV levels too? (Or you already have it and it's still not enough?)
Hey mate love the vids so helpful for all of us dmax /mux owners out here, just a question the diff mount bolt through the crossmember does that have to be done up all the way so the rubber washers or bushes are hard up against the diff mount or should there be room for it to move ?👍👍
Isuzu rate the recovery point @ 2950kg each. a bridle/equalizer would have to be used . Still I would be very cautious when snatching , ok for pulling /winching.
Hiya, apologies for the long comment. But I'm hoping you can help. So the general thoughts are, you only need a diff drop for a lift 2'' (roughly 50mm) or more. Correct? So over here in the UK, I can get an ISUZU APPROVED Pedders 1.75'' lift kit for my D'max. Won't hurt the warranty of the vehicle and so on. Sounds great. But why, if a diff drop is for 50mm or more, are the diff drops so small? Only 30mm? Even after fitting one, you still wouldn't be bringing it back to the factory height right? I mean, I could fit one to my D'max after the very small 1.75'' Pedders lift, and it wouldn't even bring her back straight. So why am I advised I don't need one unless the lift is over 2'', and if that's the case, why don't they drop the diff further? Just none of it is adding up to me? Regards.
I have a factory manual for my MUX which shows the various jacking points and suggest to jack the front of the vehicle position the jack under the center of the engine using the cross member. It would appear to do this one would have to remove the crash protection. Is this why you always jack using the chassis member on the side?
Any idea if the cross member dimensions are the same between the Holden Colorado and the US Chevy Colorado? If unsure, would anyone be willing to give me the dimensions of this diff drop cross member? i.e. - looking for distance between all of the mounting holes. Thanks!
Nick what is the advantage of raising the vehicle and then lowering the diff. Surely that means you have made no difference to the vehicle clearance. So why do the lift?
Fitting the diff drop doesnt decrease the clearance underneath the cross member by much at all. Maybe 5mm. In most IFS vehicles the clearance under the front won't be what gets the vehicle hung up the large rear diff usually sits quite a bit lower and is where you will get stuck.
@Mud & MUX The new crossmember only sits about 5mm lower then the factory one. The design is different to the factory one so that it drops the diff 30mm but only sits about 5mm lower underneath the vehicle.
@@LowRangeNick is that because you haven't been able to find any that fit. I haven't been able to find any that specify they fit with this installed yet. Other brand diff drops yes.

@@LowRangeNick I'm thinking to do a 40/50mm on the new dmax and really don't want to do a diff drop because I got some custom bash plate... Pray for the cv hold haha
@@LowRangeNick apparently you can fit straight 33 without lift on the new dmax so no need of a big lift... I'll try to get 45mm lift to play it safe... Thanks Nick for your help!!!
You have practically no down travel - you need to fix your upper control arms to gain down travel, especially since you now have better angles on the shafts.
If you put longer upper control arms onto the Isuzus without the correct bumpstop length in between the tierod end becomes over extended and can bend and destroy itself. The balljoints like to fall out of the aftermarket arms as well.
It only drops the crossmember 5mm lower than the standard one. If you are going to get hung up on anything it will be the rear diff not under the front. The front clearance is 280mm and rear diff is 240mm.

Hi there 🙂 there is no need if you are staying under the 50mm lift.
Superb tutorial.
Nick, got a standard DMAX 2015, no lift, is there any benifit to fitting one to a standar vehicle? Or a waste of money. Keep up the great work, mate
Hi there, yeah there is no point fitting one to a standard vehicle. Only beneficial when lifting the vehicle more then 50mm.
@@LowRangeNick hello nic. Are lift kits fixed to how high the lift they bring is or can you choose how high? I want to avoid going over 50mm
This the same for a 2017 z71 colorado?
I think so 😊

The munji one moves the diff forward and drops. These just drop the diff down 30mm. No wheel alignment necessary.

Hey Haymon, I'm running approx 50-60mm of lift.
This will be exactly the same on the dmax?
Yep it sure will be !

Great video again Nick. Out of interest, if you're lifting less than 50mm (say 40mm) is it worth it to go with the Diff Drop? Or is it overkill?
It isn't really necessary if your lift is under 50mm. If you were at 50mm and above then it is a good idea.
