I played this video today as I watched my best friend and prayer partner take her last breath and receive her golden crown. This song is special to me. I've played this song (with Chris Turner and the Church of Christ singing this song) at the home going of my mother, a faithful member of Church of Christ for over 50 + years, and my two sisters. All of them received crowns in heaven. Today, my best friend got hers. I also want this song played for me when it is my time to cross over to the other side but even more important, I pray that I'm found worthy to receive a crown.

This is a wonderfull way to worship. To bad many of the churches don't understand this. For we worhship in spirit and truth. Accapella music is one of the truths to worship and having a joyous time is in spirit. For the spirit is made up of our feelings, emotions, and our very being. To anyone that says one need to have a stoic attitude when worshipping the GOD of life, the saviour of our soul, should really reconsider. Especially when that person can get excited with a game on TV.
I remember going to sing outs in Rogersville Alabama with my family. Chris Turner and the Southside Singers use to tear the church down!!!!! I We use to listen to his tapes (no RUclips then LOL) when my dad Bro. Willie McCord and Bro. Darrell Holt (RIP) use to travel together doing gospel meetings and tent meetings. Love to hear him sing to this day. 😘

I reside in Los Angeles and they took my precious angel, daughter Mikalah Newman over property to sell drugs and the Court/Judge and police and father associated with them will not allow me to see her for more than two years, even after many attorneys and many motions. I am not giving up on this Angel with a great spirit to hug everyone she met. She was only six(6) and enjoyed life but all is not lost because her footprints and mine will be directed (no matter how crooked the road is) hopefully to that path in the sky to our heavenly Father above all and over all. Thank You Chris for the beautiful gift of song.
Love Chris Turner! I was reading some of the comments here. I don't know how a discussion about instruments and clapping transpired. I was raised brought up in COC and still attend COC. Thank God for his grace! It is never ending and who are we to decide what it covers! There shouldn't be so much politics and speculation in the church. There should be unity and no condemnation because we are all sinners. Preacher today said, "if you aren't the biggest sinner you know, then you need to reevaluate yourself". Stop condemning people because your sin is different from someone else's. How can anyone say they are clapping too much? Do you think God will condemn his children for clapping in worship service because the Spirit moved them to do so? Everyone should enjoy this video and forget about the politics and who you think is right or wrong for whatever reason. Our job is to strive to be like Christ and share the word, not to judge and chastise. Geez! Stay blessed and remember God's grace and mercy is everything!

All good and perfect gifts come from above. Chris praises God with his voice, which is an instrument, an annointed instrument, too. The Lord gives the gift of musical instruments to musicians, so as long as those gifts are used to praise and honor God, I'm not understanding what the discrepancy is about. Do you honestly believe that if saints clap their hands in praise and adoration to the Lord that he would punish them in some way? I have two gifted (no musical lessons) sons who are musicians and they both play faithfully in honor of the Lord. I am proud of them, too. There is no shame in honoring God with our gifts. The Lord gave the gift of music, it's melodious to his ears, too! Remember this, when he comes back to get his saints, Gabriel will blow his trumpet! Be blessed everyone and let's not get hung up on tradition and doctrine, but rather live lives becoming as followers of Christ.
Yes Rox, all good and perfect gifts come from above. Remember, Jesus said true worshippers will worship the Father in Spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such worship to him. John 4:23 So God wants our worship to be as such, not what we want or what we think He wants. Jesus also said we must worship him in spirit and in truth. Must is an absolute word. We, as worshippers, can't just do what we want and call it worship. God gives us his Spirit when we are baptized (Acts 2:38) to connect with Him. The truth of worship is by the authority of God/Jesus. So we must do what Jesus has authorized in His church (Matthew 16:18,19). So we know Jesus left instructions on how we should worship. We find those examples by what we read when the Lord's church was first established (Acts 2-Jude). We do not find any examples of musical instruments outside of the God given one (our voices) used when they came together to worship. Remember, Paul said in Acts 20:27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God (or the whole will of God). So we are not lacking any information on how we are to worship him. Oh, and the trumpet Gabriel is going to blow has nothing to do with our worship. God is allowing him to blow that. As far as clapping is concerned, Romans 12:1,2 does say to present our bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. The second verse says that we may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God. The last time i checked, my hands are apart of my living body, and no man made instruments are living... Also, it says we can prove God's will. That is by the Word of God, our Bibles. I'd would say if you can't prove it, it's not His will nor do we have the authorization. So let's just go by the example and sing with our voices...if we want to remain true to His Word and our guide.

I think it's because the kind of singing here is more focused on the leader, Chris Turner and not focused on CHrist. This guy is just riffin'. It's more theatrics and focused on performance. Just my 2cents.
At our fall revivals, song leaders from different congregations sing at the afternoon service. We clap along with the song and clap after the song. The "bassing" helps the song leader improvise and keep the song's rhythm going. Bro. Turner is a minister at a congregation in NJ. He was under the tutelage of some strong COC ministers, if they haven't told him to ask congregations to refrain from clapping and/or "bassing" it can be seen as acceptable worship. Good preaching and good singing is what more COC congregations need to keep growing God's kingdom

All good and perfect gifts come from above. Chris praises God with his voice, which is an instrument, an annointed instrument, too. The Lord gives the gift of musical instruments to musicians, so as long as those gifts are used to praise and honor God, I'm not understanding what the discrepancy is about. Do you honestly believe that if saints clap their hands in praise and adoration to the Lord that he would punish them in some way? I have two gifted (no musical lessons) sons who are musicians and they both play faithfully in honor of the Lord. I am proud of them, too. There is no shame in honoring God with our gifts. The Lord gave the gift of music, it's melodious to his ears, too! Remember this, when he comes back to get his saints, Gabriel will blow his trumpet! Be blessed everyone and let's not get hung up on tradition and doctrine, but rather live lives becoming as followers of Christ.
Yes Rox, all good and perfect gifts come from above. Remember, Jesus said true worshippers will worship the Father in Spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such worship to him. John 4:23 So God wants our worship to be as such, not what we want or what we think He wants. Jesus also said we must worship him in spirit and in truth. Must is an absolute word. We, as worshippers, can't just do what we want and call it worship. God gives us his Spirit when we are baptized (Acts 2:38) to connect with Him. The truth of worship is by the authority of God/Jesus. So we must do what Jesus has authorized in His church (Matthew 16:18,19). So we know Jesus left instructions on how we should worship. We find those examples by what we read when the Lord's church was first established (Acts 2-Jude). We do not find any examples of musical instruments outside of the God given one (our voices) used when they came together to worship. Remember, Paul said in Acts 20:27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God (or the whole will of God). So we are not lacking any information on how we are to worship him. Oh, and the trumpet Gabriel is going to blow has nothing to do with our worship. God is allowing him to blow that. As far as clapping is concerned, Romans 12:1,2 does say to present our bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. The second verse says that we may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God. The last time i checked, my hands are apart of my living body, and no man made instruments are living... Also, it says we can prove God's will. That is by the Word of God, our Bibles. I'd would say if you can't prove it, it's not His will nor do we have the authorization. So let's just go by the example and sing with our voices...if we want to remain true to His Word and our guide.

Let everything that's dead be buried ..The cemetery is fo dead people and animals ..Wat Church of Christ have you seen in the cemetery ..Some Church of Christ members r quick to find fault ..wen u can't beat them listen to Luther Vandross .But they want too point out this at that ..some of us were mistaught on our song service bk in tha days of tha 60-80's now that we know how to use ourselves as instruments of tha Lord and blend together in songs of worship to our God in perfect harmony sounds so beautiful ..even tha Handclapping ,Foot stomping, rocking &Standing I love it in tha church of Christ which I am a proud to be a member ..we don't have tha Brothers on tha mics yet to blend in with tha vocal beats from heart within but hopefully I pray someday we will ...So why do some members like to quench tha Holy Spirit wen God tells us not too...,

I think it's because the kind of singing here is more focused on the leader, Chris Turner and not focused on CHrist. This guy is just riffin'. It's more theatrics and focused on performance. Just my 2cents.

Listening in 2018
At our fall revivals, song leaders from different congregations sing at the afternoon service. We clap along with the song and clap after the song. The "bassing" helps the song leader improvise and keep the song's rhythm going. Bro. Turner is a minister at a congregation in NJ. He was under the tutelage of some strong COC ministers, if they haven't told him to ask congregations to refrain from clapping and/or "bassing" it can be seen as acceptable worship. Good preaching and good singing is what more COC congregations need to keep growing God's kingdom
