First was Tactical Espionage Operations then became Tactical Running Operations and now Tactical Rolling Operations? wtf is tthis game really? Being to many a thing at the same time.
There is a very convenient route going along the left side of OKB Zero, where you can climb the walls and avoid most enemies by taking the high ground. I wanted to try something less obvious and more exciting. As a reminder: Snake is invisible beyond the 20 meter range during the day while crawling or rolling. He can also lay low to reduce that range to 10 meters. So the whole strategy is basically watching the distance indicators above enemies' heads and crawling past them when they look away. Not that hard, really. I'd say this mission is not even in top 10 of the most difficult missions of this playthrough. EDIT: There is some weird bug here, where one of the soldiers calls the CP to complain about his missing vehicle (0:52). I think it is the Walker Gear soldier near the last gate (7:08), because in the video he faces right, instead of facing straight, like he normally does. It didn't change much, though. Normally you can avoid him by crawling around him on the right side, but in the video I had to crawl on the left. I have no idea what causes the bug. I didn't fulton or destroy any vehicles or Walker Gears on previous playthroughs of this mission. Restarting, waiting a few days or changing the area didn't fix it.
+Chris A Readiness does not affect visibility ranges. It increases the chance of enemies investigating disturbances, how quickly they do it, and how often they call on other soldiers to help them investigate. So in my case, since I play without causing any suspicions, readiness doesn't really change anything.
+prenatual Did you NOT patch your game or something? I'm pretty sure that now when you try to sneak past enemies while prone, they spot you at a distance of 25 m or so in the daytime. Nightime sneaking seems to have remained unchanged since the beginning.
+qsqua I'm currently playing offline, so I haven't updated in a while (a few days or so). I somehow doubt that they going to change such a critical variable in a patch, though. I also haven't seen it being mentioned in the latest patch notes.
***** Hmm... maybe it's just me hallucinating. I installed the Big Boss Ground Zeroes mod but that didn't mention anything about changing AI parameters. I always find it difficult to sneak during the daylight than at nighttime.
+qsqua Lol you should have mentioned that first. In Ground Zeroes the visibility range while prone was 30 meters, so if you also have it at 30 meters in TPP, then it was likely caused by the mod.
I'm struggling with detection in MGSV. Even if I'm motionless, prone, and wearing the appropriate camouflage, snipers can see me in the day. On the other hand, I've been prone in "stealth mode" at night and soldiers have walked right past me, almost to the point where they might have tripped over Snake's bootlaces.
Snipers in this game are just broken. They ignore every stealth mechanic in this game, they just immediately see you if you're in their range of vision. Your only saving grace is the little grace period you get to hide if you're seen.
Glanten You have to crawl incredibly slow until out of view or just watch as they turn their heads scanning everything and move when they look somewhere else
Glanten well.. yeah. they're not blind in daylight, you know. and at night that's not what they're looking for. I'm sure if that outpost was on search alert at night they'd find you
In my 1st playthrough OKB Zero was an awesome surprise, you feel things are wrapping up and you've been around the block and you think you've seen all of afghanistan and africa until you find out there's this massive base tucked away at the top, I managed to never notice it until it was required
What’s most impressive is that he’s doing it without enemies having a detection glance where they think they see you but are not sure I did this whole mission without getting that once but I had to perfect my route and timing at a nail hitting pace
I've noticed that you don't pick up any plants or resources when out on missions. Is that part of your own No Traces run or do you just not care about them? I'm sort of a kleptomaniac when I see something lying around. If I see it's shimmering, I MUST have it.

What caused the explosion at about 1:20? could that be the "missing vehicle"? At a guess, given you position, the game attempted to spawn the vehicle into memory somewhere up ahead, but it was in collision with another object at the time of spawn (possibly a moving soldier), and thus "loudly despawned". Also, I love how dumb the XOF troops look wearing heavy black armor and helmets in broad daylight.
+Discendo Vox Those poor XOF guys must have had their brains cooked inside those black helmets. Would explain why they can't see Snake rolling around. About the explosion: I don't think an object would despawn that way. At least I've never seen it happen in a few hundred hours I played the game. I've seen human enemies collide with vehicles, but it always killed them without destroying the vehicle. I think it's something else. Ever tried blocking a road with a car? When an enemy car gets near it, enemies will get out, place a C4 on your vehicle and then blow it up to get it out of the way. I think this is exactly what happened here, because enemies never use explosives in any other circumstances outside of combat. Maybe it is one of the cars from the cutscene with Skull Face that gets spawned by accident and prevents the guy near the last gate from reaching his Walker Gear?
+prenatual I've encountered that one too. And I was doing this mission at night time. I don't know what causes it but everytime I reach that cliff on the left to bypass the road and the Walker Gear, something explodes but doesn't alert anyone. I think it's triggered and not time related because it only happens in that general area. One attempt I stopped at the LZ to develop some items before continuing and yet when I reached near that spot, something exploded.
+qsqua Are you on console or PC? What's weird is that I played the mission a few times yesterday and everything was normal. Then this bug started occurring after every mission restart and nothing I tried helped me fix it.

Just a dumb theory, but I have seen it happen once: the explosion at 1:20 could have been caused by one of the wild dogs (jackals?) near the start walking onto a directional mine. Would suck to lose your No Traces bonus due to that happening!
6:22 and here we have a rare but beautiful securitius camer'as in its natural habitat looking over a small area for any kind of prey usually humanoid creatures it has not seen before, upon sighting the unfortunate humanoid it will open fire with its attached machine gun killing the creature exceptionally quick, it will also alert its close cousin the specitius forceas guardis to the inturder. young securitius camer'as are ususally placed upon a wall by a forceas guardis where it spends the rest of its life watching, it is not quite known how young securitius camer'as are formed but it is assumed it happens somewhere in a cave system

Thanks for not wimping out and going for the bold route! They should really have put a stamina limit on rolling. Seeing as you reckon this wasn't in the top ten for difficulty, what would you say the hardest is to get No Traces?
+Geoff Cunningham I'll tell you my top 5 so far: 1) Backup, Back Down 2) Blood Runs Deep 3) Code Talker 4) Metallic Archaea 5) Retake the Platform A Quiet Exit will very likely take the 1st place once I get to it.
+prenatual I'm surprised by backup, back down. Surely with d horse and a vehicle you can just camp the northern road near the helicopter pad and pick them off by blocking the road with both? In your run you saved time by running around like a maniac but that's not necessary if you aren't going for high score.
+Geoff Cunningham Yeah, Backup, Back Down was hard only because I made things difficult for myself. I wanted to extract the first 7 vehicles in less than half of the allotted time, and that required some insanely precise timing. On its own the mission isn't that difficult, I agree. Same with Metallic Archaea. If you don't mind spending 20 minutes you can just camp near the resource containers, countering the Skulls' attacks and punching them with Blast Arm once in a while. It's not hard, just tedious. However, finding a No Traces strategy that would let you beat them in less than 10 minutes was another thing altogether.
+prenatual I would imagine you only put Code talker in #3 since you prefer to take the snipers out? Because the mission becomes trivial if you avoid them and they posses the guards when you get the old man.
+Madnam Yes, of course. I ranked them based on how difficult they were to complete with the optional tasks and extra restrictions I set for myself. A lot of the missions would have been much easier if I only cared about earning No Traces as efficiently as possible. For example, take Blood Runs Deep: you can fulton extract only one wounded child and then leave via the chopper without escorting the remaining 4 children. Because of the bug that should also count as a successful completion. Retake the Platform isn't that hard either when you play at night or if you let enemies become suspicious, etc.
If I saw someone rolling like that along a road like this, especially uphill, and wearing such...eh.... clothing, I'd think "Well well, you certainly don't see that everyday". And then I'd continue with my lookout post duties.
The game must count time as the most important factor for mission grade because I did this level without ever being found, extracted all the guards, vehicles, and containers, and still got the lowest ranking of any mission I'd received because it took me a long time to do it.
This was like the easiest mission to do,I was shocked that such a major mission would be basically a crawling course, just had to take the aforementioned left route.A big plus was that I deployed in the evening.Sneaked through with only a few magazines thrown here and there,no kills,no stuns, nothing and I got a B rank. lol thanks Kojima
[since rolling is done with left or right], you start that way and If you pan the camera towards where you wanna go + slowly shift the control from left/right to up WHILE rolling ---You can actually keep rolling / looking in that direction too, rather than stopping readjusting stopping.
I love the stark difference between a beginner stealthily completing these games vs a pro who's played for years Beginner: Takes cover analyzing the area carefully looking at the positions and such Pro: Prone, Roll, Profit
I know I'm late but Thank you prenatual for this walkthrough the only change I did is after the second gate, i took a different path and not even come across one security cam, at the end(after the 3rd gate) the sniper the d-walker and another sniper got sus about me. I immediately jumped in the hole (in the left) but for some reason the stupid d-walker was facing to the objective area so i came near the materials container, made sound with my bionic arm and the flanked through the right to be safe I holded up the d walker (just in case ) and i got no traces. the time was 14:35. and final score was 240830. Again Thank you.. i watched several walkthroughs of being going onto the left side of okb zero but somehow i always got caught by the mines or the sniper and one time i got a 'C' rank. And it was my first time trying this(after completing ep 31)
I know it isn't related to the video but have you ever gotten soldiers onto the back of trucks? I tried a few times with the hand of Jehuty and it wouldn't work. I had to throw them off a ridge onto the back of the truck but then they would never wake up no matter what I did and wen I shot one in the foot they all died. I may have to try holding them up and then bumping them off the edge into it.
***** I tried a number of things and it causes a lot of bizarre behavior. Active soldiers in the back of trucks don't seem able to respond to anything besides directly seeing you. They don't seem able to wake any of the soldiers up or if they do it's only one soldier ever. Too many held up soldiers in the back (around 7-8) will cause them to shift around and if you drive off they all bounce out. Any soldiers too close to the edge of the truck while you reverse will be hit and die. There's really no way get awake soldiers into the truck besides CQCing them into it. Sometimes you can use the hand of jehuty but the other soldiers might attack if you're not fast enough. Soldiers are able to see sleeping soldiers on D-horse which can cause them to roll off into the back of the truck but the two soldiers driving a truck I tried it on never got back into their truck and just started running (and once they got a certain distance away their icons on the map showed they were warping around) Sadly it doesn't break anything in terms of the actual vehicle physics which is what I am hoping for. I might try stacking vehicles and the D-walker. This game does seem to break but not in a way anyone would expect.
A0Refrigerator I'm genuinely surprised the game even lets do any of these things. In Ground Zeros bodies would just slide to the side when you tried to throw them in he back of a truck, as if there were an invisible solid preventing them from going in.
This game looks so good even today. It follows the rules of photorealism like PBR and gamma correct lighting, combine that with assets captured by photogrammetry and you have a marvelous graphical experience. All at silky smooth 60fps.
I can't crawl that close to the first gate at night without being spotted by the sniper, and you ride straight up the road on a horse in daylight. Perfect timing I guess.
+vman339 Sure, why not: ruclips.net/video/jg_OJwlWSLk/видео.html You can't run through it during the day, though, like the guy in the video did. You'd have to crawl pretty much everywhere, but it's easily doable.
+prenatual crawling is lame but i guess they do call him snake.. most people probably dont attempt to roll through the front door and roll up the main road but definitely sneaking hunched over gets you spotted.. the game is great but it seems like a lot is counter intuitive.. lots of loop holes.
Gameplay - 10 Graphics - 10 Sound - 9 Presentation - 9 Bosses - 2 Story - 2 Overall - 7 Making Mgs open world was a bad idea. Story and bosses really made mgs for me 😔
3:27 metal gear logic: why you could not enter the tank and drive when nobody would not see, i mean nobody can see inside a tank and who's driving lol. What if they addeded that option in a game and you could enter in front of their nose and sneak in. But before you enter a tank you need to pick lock the tank hatch.
This is one of the missions I struggle with. I get too greedy. I scan all the soldiers and I can't help but want to fulton the S ranks out. Naturally I get spotted and it all goes to shit.
Actually it really works bro. I done trying.. but i cant do in single try like you.. i got caught 3 times so i back to checkpoint.. but still i got S rank and no traces and 16 minute.. its help until this day bro.. thanks a lot..

If I saw someone rolling like that along a road like this, especially uphill, and wearing such...eh.... clothing, I'd think "Well well, you certainly don't see that everyday". And then I'd continue with my lookout post duties.
It’s really brain damaging how open he’s rolling and they don’t see him
I just walked right in without any clothing. I had no problems whatsoever, i mean, everyone either screamed, fainted or ran away.......
Bro, you've got this shit down to a science. I'm in love with your vids.
I did this mission in an entire hour for the s rank and perfect stelth
The game must count time as the most important factor for mission grade because I did this level without ever being found, extracted all the guards, vehicles, and containers, and still got the lowest ranking of any mission I'd received because it took me a long time to do it.
This was like the easiest mission to do,I was shocked that such a major mission would be basically a crawling course, just had to take the aforementioned left route.A big plus was that I deployed in the evening.Sneaked through with only a few magazines thrown here and there,no kills,no stuns, nothing and I got a B rank. lol thanks Kojima
Time you spent on mission is important
Buddy this mission prioritises timing more than not being detected
[since rolling is done with left or right], you start that way and If you pan the camera towards where you wanna go + slowly shift the control from left/right to up WHILE rolling ---You can actually keep rolling / looking in that direction too, rather than stopping readjusting stopping.
Hal: " you can't just roll your way out of your problems".
Snake: "stfu" *throws him in sea*
2:25
It's impossible for the soldier not to see you
Awesome videos man, this is the first i've watched, but will be watching the rest.
Has anyone figured out exactly the range when an enemy will detect you whilst hiding on horseback? It's been bugging me since September 1st. Lol
25 meters
Except Snipers. Those guys will spot you over 100m in some cases and over 60m in most cases.
@@fiob9237 I can ride closer than that and Guards would still not've spotted me
7:21 That guy must be sleep walking cause Venom was just infront of his vision range and yet he didnt see him.
I love the stark difference between a beginner stealthily completing these games vs a pro who's played for years
Beginner: Takes cover analyzing the area carefully looking at the positions and such
Pro: Prone, Roll, Profit
I know I'm late but
Thank you prenatual for this walkthrough the only change I did is after the second gate, i took a different path and not even come across one security cam, at the end(after the 3rd gate) the sniper the d-walker and another sniper got sus about me.
You are welcome. Glad I could help!
Venom Snake:
"They see me rollin, they hatin"
how is this dude rolling down a gravel road with no shirt on at approx 10 mph and his nips don't look raw and red like a couple pepperoni slices
Prenatual is the scott sterling of stealth. The man, the myth, the legend!
The only reason people say this game is unfinished is because you can’t customize the water gun.
Feels like the first thing I would notice in combat would be someone rolling around nonstop... 😅
Pure patience
Took me ages to s rank this level.
Then you roll in the offspring of a wheel and a tumble weed!
Good going dude!
Half-naked human sausage vigorously rolling down the centre of the base.
Soldier: I refuse to acknowledge this.
I got an S Rank on this mission by using a jeep and placing smoke grenades inside the jeep. I drove all the way unseen and quickly got a perfect time.
Respect for facing these missions naked and without hud.Keep it up god bless
I know it isn't related to the video but have you ever gotten soldiers onto the back of trucks? I tried a few times with the hand of Jehuty and it wouldn't work. I had to throw them off a ridge onto the back of the truck but then they would never wake up no matter what I did and wen I shot one in the foot they all died. I may have to try holding them up and then bumping them off the edge into it.
+A0Refrigerator Why on earth would you need to have soldiers in the back of the truck?
I haven't tried it myself, no.
***** They deserve a vacation and there are many sights to see.
+A0Refrigerator You can try putting them on D-Horse and then putting D-Horse in the back of the truck.
*****
I tried a number of things and it causes a lot of bizarre behavior. Soldiers are able to see sleeping soldiers on D-horse which can cause them to roll off into the back of the truck but the two soldiers driving a truck I tried it on never got back into their truck and just started running (and once they got a certain distance away their icons on the map showed they were warping around)
Sadly it doesn't break anything in terms of the actual vehicle physics which is what I am hoping for.
2023, this game is like a drug
Tip for this mission: do a barrel roll hundreds... I mean thousands of times
Delta-6: Do you see someone rolling across?
Delta-5: Negative, probably some tumbleweed just rolling around...
What really bothers me is the gunship. So the gunship won't notice you on day time as long as you're just crawling around?
This game looks so good even today.
It follows the rules of photorealism like PBR and gamma correct lighting, combine that with assets captured by photogrammetry and you have a marvelous graphical experience.
All at silky smooth 60fps.
......amazing....
wow, you were rolling and crawling in plain sight of the guards, lol. It's almost as good as hiding in a cardboard box.
perfect stealth was the ONLY way I could beat this level
I can't crawl that close to the first gate at night without being spotted by the sniper, and you ride straight up the road on a horse in daylight. Perfect timing I guess.
Do you think you could pull off a no suspicion run if you were willing to use the other route?
+vman339 Sure, why not: ruclips.net/video/jg_OJwlWSLk/видео.html
You can't run through it during the day, though, like the guy in the video did.
No, the AI is just quite blind.
Ground Zeroes was actually much more punishing by contrast.

Metal Gear Solid: Tumbleweed simulator.
Nice job!
Wahnsinn echt hammer die nicht zu entdeckt werden ohne irgendeinen Schuss abzugeben absoluten Respekt
"anyone notice that body rolling across the road?....no? .....ok then"
Snake living up his name. Crawling throughout
Snake is invisble from beyond 20 meters, gets everyone alerted at 25-30 meters when doing it the exact same way, but that's just me
This is one of the missions I struggle with. I get too greedy. I scan all the soldiers and I can't help but want to fulton the S ranks out. Naturally I get spotted and it all goes to shit.
crouching and rolling gives you unlimited invisibility
wow ! Now that makes sense. Thats why they call him snake . Cool performance dude .
awesome gameplay.hands down the best channel watch
I tried to stealth this but ended up getting into a massive, bloody battle killing the entire base in one room as they kept coming to kill me
This is the best gameplay i have ever seen!I sure that you are better than big boss
My man's all that rolling gotta be the phantom pain
Perfect rolling frenzy 😝
Boss, your back must be hurting with all these drum rolls
Alternate title:
Cosplayer with water gun rolling into top secret Gundam construction Base.
Its a hard mission but snake just rolls with the punches
This what Fred Durst meant when he said "Keep on rollin baby"
Actually it really works bro. I done trying.. but i cant do in single try like you.. i got caught 3 times so i back to checkpoint.. but still i got S rank and no traces and 16 minute.. its help until this day bro.. thanks a lot..
1:10 ah yes, the famous cyclone roll, the ultimate loophole to surpass Metal Gear.
