Lucy Bronze is just such a great player. Control on the ball, smart in making choices, coaching. My absolute favorite player in the England squad.
I really loved watching the lionesses play at the last world cup, they were amazing and it was great to see them get to the semi final, they seem to run out of steam against Sweden though in the third place play off. Hopefully, with the home euro's in 2022 they can go and win it. Come on lionesses!

A competitive FAWSL has strengthened the bench for England implying that they can go deep into a tournament. Problem is that their technical limitations get exposed by superior opponents who are comfortable on the ball in tight spaces. So unless they really get a fantastic draw, just like in last World Cup, I don't see the Lionesses getting past the quarters. A Netherlands vs Spain final for me. What is intriguing in the comments is that not a single commentator has talked about the Spaniards!!!

Nobody knew at the time of my comment that Alexia, Jenni will be out for Spain, Katoto for France & Popp will miss the final. Tournaments are not always won by the best team. Greece won Euro 2004 for example. A team that scores wins the game. Now whether that is through scrappy long ball play or beautiful 1 touch technical football like the Dutch in 2017 is another matter.

She’s been left off the 2023 WC team as well, when I thought she would be rostered at least to come off the bench and cover for some of the injuries. As far as I know she hasn’t retired from club play, so I just don’t think she’s going to be back on the national team at this point. Sad that she missed the 2022 Euros 😞
I swear Lucy & Daly should be on the USWNT with the way they play. They are both players that most to me would be perfect on the US team and they both play so much like our USA women. Great stuff from everyone. I think Daly is so under appreciated by most English fans and I would play her further up the pitch and not in the back line.

Keep in mind one of the top Olympic women’s teams - Australia - lost something like 7-0 to a boy’s U15 club side a few years back And, although the women’s team made all sorts of excuses (injuries, experimenting, etc) - none of them changed the fact that they were senior internationals and they got spanked by 14yo boys

No. Women are physiologically different and therefore compete separately. No one discredits Serena Williams because she can’t beat Roger Federer or Djokovic. No one discredited Rebecca Aldington for her gold medals because Phelps could swim faster. No one discredited Paula Radcliffe because a man could run the marathon faster. This is women’s football, stop comparing it to men. They have been vastly underfunded and only recently gone fully pro in the last 4 - 6 years. Grassroots and academies will feed through to elite levels and levels will improve greatly in years to come. But physiologically they won’t compare to men. A woman’s achievements isn’t devalued by small minded men
