I'm an adult and I finally have time and space to learn how to play the ukulele. I've dabbled in the past but could never commit enough to really improve. This tutorial is super helpful and it's a beautiful song too. It also makes it super clear what chords are played when and the strumming pattern and the timing - all of the things that can make it difficult to learn from a regular book. And I appreciate the artwork in the background. Thank you so much for helping me learn something that I can enjoy and be proud of.

I started crying while playing this because in class everyone would be playing this song on the drum keyboard guitar or ukelele and since are school has shut down I can't play with them and I miss it

I love this playalong!!!! It was so easy to understand and I really like this song! I like to play the first four lines of the chorus (I am a lost boy from neverland... Always on the run from captain hook) with a DDU UPU strumming pattern because I think it fits the beat better. This is my new favorite playalong!

Oh, it's on my list...but it isn't an easy song. What I find with songs like that is that people get really mad when they are harder than they expect...and that's finding a generally "good" key for ukulele.

We have a new form (you can find it in the description of my most recent videos) where you can add a request that will be seen by number of creators. I'm running pretty slow on requests...as in half a year or more, so this enables a few other people that don't make multiple versions of each song (GCEA, DGBE, Chord Letter Names & Lyrics, and a Tutorial) to address those requests faster...but the song may not have the same "look" or "style" as my play alongs.

I do have a newer version of this song available which actually suggests a finger picking pattern, and there is a tutorial video as well.
In the beginning i do only one strum which is D(down) and in the main part where it says '
Strum on each beat' i just do each cord two sturms down 'DD'
This is why I generally don't tell people how to strum at the beginning of a video--some people get angry because there is no strumming pattern given, and others will tell you you're wrong! 😄 As I always say, use what works best for you.
You can literally play this song with only Em and G major, starting out on Em with single down strums. Try it both ways! (Just alternate between the two chords) I hope this is helpful! 🙃

How do I pluck the stings ? Is it like whatever or is there a pattern 💀
We can’t really replicate the piano arpeggio on ukulele the same way she plays it (at least not easily), so I’d pluck the strings in this pattern two times in a row (playing the D chord):

Use your thumb for strings 3 & 4, your first finger (index) for 2, and your second finger (middle) for 1.
If you want it to sound even better, play the same thing on a barre chord D with your pinky hitting the 5th fret of the first string...

lol i spent four hours writing all the lyrics and sings on a piece of paper so in total i had my VERY dead arms and 10 pieces of paper and its 2 am rn and I am cheering in the middle of the night XD
Not to make you feel bad, but I would go to ukutabs.com and see what they had for the chords/lyrics first. For new songs, I work with UkuTabs to provide the exact lyrics/chords that I use (since last December), but many of the older songs are there and close, and could save you hours of work.

i know you've explained this a million times before, but how do I pluck the strings? I'm sorry, I'm still not very good with ukulele so plucking strings for a song is foreign to me
