As an American, seeing the Dole fruit cups with the cherries was really surprising to me. Big cans of that were a classic for all kinds of 1950’s/1960’s style jello (jelly) mold “salads”. It was also a school lunch classic. I would always eat around the cherries. I preferred the one labeled “tropical fruit salad”. That was often a treat (pudding?) at weeknight dinners when I was a kid. I think seeing mixed fruit with cherries like that is probably nostalgic for everyone millennial and older in the US. Edited to add: hot dogs and mac and cheese is a kid classic in the US. It was a “mom doesn’t want to cook or argue with anybody” kind of dinner. Similar to what I’ve seen folks in the UK do for their kids with beans on toast. Although it was always Kraft Mac and cheese.
Really enjoy your shopping hauls 😊 xx
