    These kinds of cycle routes are cozy, but their nature being that of abandoned rail is a shame. I wish abandoned rails like this would be reinstalled and reopened for service. One going from my hometown in the Central Valley of California up into the Sierra Nevada foothills was removed in the 1970s, and the portion of the route in the town up in the forest was reused as a shared ped/cycle path. The town would have benefited significantly from an improved passenger railroad down to my hometown, but they instead opted for a four lane highway as a replacement.

    When I cycled that route last year the traffic lights annoyed me. I too tried pressing the button, but what BicycleDutch didn't show here, is that you cannot see the lights from where you can press the button. Most crossings would be fine without lights anyway.

    • @b127_1
      @b127_1 2 года назад +5

      The sign is there in case the lights are off. Most intersections in NL will also have yield signs underneath the traffic lights, but usually only for cars.

    • @Erik-ou3tl
      @Erik-ou3tl 2 года назад

  • @Arjay404
    @Arjay404 2 года назад

    I'm confused by the stop sign and light combo. When you have green are you supposed to still come to a complete stop before crossing or cross without coming to a complete stop?
    Also is your camera setup being held on by rubber bands? Surely that's not the case.

    • @andi_1425
      @andi_1425 2 года назад +1

      The stop sign is a backup in case the traffic light doesn't work. They might even turn off the traffic light late at night to save power when there is very little traffic. Anyway, you only follow the stop (or yield) sign when the traffic light is off, otherwise the traffic light has priority over the sign. It might be a German thing :)

    • @BicycleDutch
      @BicycleDutch  2 года назад

      Only the external battery was held up by rubber bands. So that I didn't have to switch batteries half way. Now the entire ride is one shot.

    • @Soonjai
      @Soonjai 2 года назад

      There is pretty much no reason to not have something like this between EU countries. For Travel you can think of the EU pretty much as if it where just a single country. Of course there are some rules for how much of certain goods you are allowed to bring from one country to the next, but those limits are fairly high. For the most part you really don´t have to worry too much about the borders unless you are visiting one of the EU countries that isn´t using the Euro currency (yet)
