Bath is the classic north-south comparison word in England.

This is so funny. I learned to speak very good English (BBC English) at school (in the Netherlands) in the 1970s. And I still do that. It makes my daughters laugh sometimes. They speak much more American English (which I don't call English) :-)

I've watched you for a while now and its funny: you remind me so much of some hippie couples I knew in the 70s! And I don't mean this in a bad way, they were nice people.
Its just the impression you give in the videos: always close together, as if you are joined at the hips (of course because of the videos), a somewhat extroverted guy and a quieter woman, but she is actually the stronger personality. And of course you have a dog. And both always a bit stoned... :)
Only the clothes were a bit freakier back then.

I have a west country English accent (like a pirate) and according to this video I speak much more like an American with a flat A and dropping the H and stressing the R sound etc. The bloke in the video has what I would call a posh accent.

I tend to speak (& think) in a similar accent to that guy in the video, and I would also describe him as being 'posh' but _I_ am _not_ 'posh' and am _certainly not rich_ nor what some of us call 'well off' but I was brought up to speak correctly, spell correctly and, to be fair, whilst my handwriting has never been neat or tidy (due, in part to having had Polio as a baby), and at times (most of the time as a schoolgirl!) it's been illegible, _what I wrote then / and what I write now_ (usually) makes sense and is written in such a way that neither my grammar, nor my punctuation is found to be faulty!! Advancing age plus certain types of company has had an effect upon it, however, and it's not unknown for my 'fall from grace' into a more commonly-used vernacular in accordance with those whom I associate!! For example...
"The wa'er in Maj_orca_ don't taste like wot it oughta" !!
      Those who know, know?!😊😂

As a French speaker, I find the differences in British and American English pronunciation fascinating and challenging. Words like "bath," "working" and "schedule" sound so distinct that it feels like two different languages. Sometimes, I end up blending both accents, which often bemuses native speakers.
One accent I find particularly challenging is the London Cockney accent. It can sound as if speakers are breathing in when they should be breathing out. Despite these quirks, I enjoy the unique mix of accents I've developed, and it seems to amuse both British and American listeners.
Merci for appreciating the quirks of a French speaker navigating English! 😊

    Non-native speaker here:
4:55 - This is one of the things that annoys the hell out of me when US tourists visit Portugal and start calling our Pastéis de Nata "Pastéis de Nada", because "nata" means "cream" but "nada" means "nothing". British tourists usually pronounce the "t" in "nata" correctly.
6:20 - Well, at least "neuw" doesn't sound like "nu", which in Portuguese means "naked". 😄

I was married to a man named
(Keith) Singleton... I kept the name because my first husband remarried, so his second wife has his surname, and I didn't want to revert back to my maiden name...
I was not a singleton child, I had a half-sister (but her firstborn 'child' died aged 56 in April 2019, and my half-sister died just 11 days shy of her 75th birthday in December 2019). (My stepdad died in December 1980), and my Mum died in October 2015 aged 98yrs+7mnths) so... I became an 'orphan' at age 62... I guess I am finally living up to my name as a 'singleton', in one way, at least!

Im not a fan of these videos, theres just too many accents in the UK and its hard to find any consistency, or generalize rules, theres really no such thing as a singular britsh accent. Like around me some might say the word 'not' as 'naaht' or 'nowat' and neither of these are even mentioned in this video.
