Excellent review, Stephanie. Those large holes not only make the whistle loud; they're going to be great for half-holing into just about any damn key you fancy. Some woods are fine for playing outdoors in colder weather; I've a Simon Styles in spalted beech which doesn't clog no matter what the temperature, and the wood seems impervious to cracking, but I've had mishaps with traditional blackwoods/rosewoods and ebonies, so I'd rather trust a fruitwood outside, or play it safe with my heavy brass Glenluce which is completely clog-free as well. Looks like good value for money. I'm tempted.
From the workmanship it can be deduced that it is not a factory whistle but handmade and it is evident that in addition to being beautiful it is of excellent quality.
What wooden whistle - out of all you have or have tried - would you say sounds the closest to the wooden whistle used in the song Federkleid by FAUN? I'm looking to get a whistle with same sounding highs and lows.
The wooden whistle used in the Federkleid video isn't actually the one you can hear in the audio recording of the song. I had the pleasure of chatting with Fiona Ruggeberg (who played the whistle in FAUN) and she confirmed the one used in the video was used because it looked nice :) it's a wooden G whistle. Fiona actually plays high and low C whistles in the audio recording for Federkleid. The low C was a Colin Goldie, and the high C was a wooden whistle by a Belgian maker that she didn't know the name of. Whistles only cover 2 octaves, so by combining a high and low C whistle, she would have been able to cover 3 octaves (as the low notes on the high c overlap with the high notes on a low c) You could perhaps get a G whistle - which would give you a nice mid range of notes to play with. If Harmony Flutes make a low G (or may also be called 'alto' or 'mezzo' G) then I'd suggest that would be a good choice!
Does the fingering ; 0XX000 work for a good C nat? For me this is one of the most important things I try to find out before buying a whistle as some whistle require ; 0XXX0X or just 0X0000. As I am lazy and used to using 0XX000 it’s a definite deal breaker for me when it comes to buying a whistle especially an expensive one.
@@CutiepieTinWhistle could you be kind enough to include this info in future reviews please? Many reviewers never mention the fingering for a C nat and in the past I’ve parted with good money for a whistle with a C nat fingering that drives me crazy! 🤪 Thank you 💜
I'm not sure what else I can give you, other than what's in the title of the video. It's a Harmony Flutes high D whistle in ashwood. The harmony flutes website is linked in the video description. x

This looks like a pretty awesome whistle
Your reviews are always the best! And i love the whistle a lot 😍😍😍
Thank you so much for the review & I really like that it's made of Ash Wood with keeping of traditions

A thorough review again, thanks. Since it is a loud whistle, would it be suitable outdoors? Or is it too vulnerable to even think about that.
Ok in dry, mild weather I imagine.

Thank you,
I'll check out the low C whistle.

The brand of whistle makes no difference to the music you can play. You can play any music on either of these whistles.
Hello. Please, give the name of the flute type.

Lovely whistle, but the logo reminds a spider, which is a little disturbing for me.
