Nice video !!! I used to drive one of these all over Europe pulling fridges for one of the Irish boys about 15years ago. It was a red Streamline tractor unit though and not the drawbar unit like in the video. Awesome truck, reliable, pulled like a train and had such a beautiful sound with the Eminox pipe it had. Love them or hate them, there's few other trucks that sound this good !!!!

yes, I am mourning the passing of the 143. the odd owner driver example still crops up but like you say they are old now so all went for export. a superb motor, one of the all time greats
I still remember when the 3 series was the new scania... super truck.. specially when scania after a few years introduced the range/split gearbox... but now its the good old days.
Once in the 1980s-1990s era, there was an amazing truck in Italy called IVECO Turbostar 190-48. It was one of the best trucks we made, and it gave a lot of blows to Scania 143 450 and 500. Unfortunately it wasn't comfortable like the Scania 143M 500, because when you were on the driver seat, you could feel like be on a bog. But it was a Mr. Truck, a great machine!

But thats missing the point. Scania became absolutely huge in Europe because they were ultra reliable, were built to last, and as a driver's vehicle they were almost unbeatable-nicely weighted steering, 10 speed synchro box, superb driving position and plenty of grunt. If you had the chance to drive one I promise you that you would LOVE it.
yes it was from Ove Ostergaard in a previous life. We don't know how many km are on it exactly but we have been told it must been over 2 million. The truck is sold, it is now in England but where? Hope somebody can give some information.

Its mostly open, sounds great pulling away. Its got a giant Rabbit (Haas) on the side! Maybe you know them!?

Yeah! What a great powerfull sounds, indeed. But I am really wondering why waste this huge power to pull that kind of "bootees" tailer?!? You should go to Scandinavia (Sweden or Finland) and take model of trailers there. Besides of Australia and Canada the Scandinavians has exemplary trailers, I think so.

these old scania 143m were very beautiful trucks. especially the V8 version.
This is my favorite sound when it comes trucks. Scania 14L V8 sounds GOOD and are in my opinion the top of the line!
