SR/BR 34028 Eddystone 4-6-2 West Country Class rebuilt

SR/BR 34028 Eddystone West Country Class 4-6-2 at the North Norfolk Railway Gala 15 April 2023. Built 1946 to the original Bulleid design, rebuilt without air smoothing 1958/9.
This 4-6-2 loco is known as a Light Pacific or informally when air-smoothed as originally built, as a "Spam Can". The Southern Railway Chief Mechanical Engineer Bulleid incorporated a number of new developments. They were amongst the first British designs to use welding in the construction process, and to use steel fireboxes, which meant that components could be more easily constructed under wartime austerity and post-war economy.
