Enjoyed your review. The pure analog radio of decent design has a low noise floor and good quality tone. They just seem to sound a little more natural with voices. I wish they would make an analog radio like this that also did SSB.
Thinking of getting this 9700dx SW Not sure if your tuning demo was done at Night but that's when you can really pickup the far out stations as ionosphere conditions change on AM&SW ground waves. I really like the analog tuning never cared for digital tuners. On your LW antenna that came with it try running it outside a window at night & it will pickup everything If you configure the wire at a slope. Thanks for sharing👍👍
I have a 9700DX, and I like it so much I've ordered another one. It's one of the best shortwave radios I have. Compared to Eton Executive Satellit it has the same sensitivity, but analog tuning is much more fun to use. It's on par or better than all of my SW radios.
That’s a REALLY nice 👍 Tecsun analog AM/FM radio 📻, with world 🌎 band and Shortwave. Shortwave is SO HARD to come by today, but it probably depends what region of the world 🌎 you’re in. Just subbed to your RUclips channel!! Your friend, Jeff.
If you want to get an analog, get this while you can. It's being sold as new but hasn't been produced in years and analag radios will probably never be produced again. Once they are gone, they are gone.
A good review of the Tecsun R9700. I like the old style radios. I see that you posted this video 3 years ago. I wonder if this radio is still working for you.
Interesting how you can receive ham radio broadcasts when this radio is not equipped for SSB and the frequency range cannot cover the Ciitizens Band. ???
just ordered this off ebay a week ago. will not receive it until somewhere around Dec. 29 too Jan. 15.. also paid 49.00 dollare plus 3.00 dollars 52 dollars complete.with shipping.

Good review...I have this radio too. Have you reviewed the CCrane EP-Pro yet like you threatened to in this video? LOL I'm considering that radio and look forward to your impressions of it.
@@Majicstick that sucks, I haven't found CCrane radios to be up to the reputation they seem to enjoy. I had a CCrane Skywave, and returned it, and have the Solar Observer and I'm only so-so about it....might pass on the Ep-Pro the reviews are quite mixed. Thanks
@@Gogogordy1 Try the SANGEAN PR-D4W. It`s just as sensitive on AM as the nearly $200.00 CCrane and has the same basic circuitry. Only about $70.00. Unlike a lot of the Sangeans this one sounds great on AM and has auto tracking (like the CCrane) and six bandwidth settings. Has weather band too.
@@Gogogordy1 I forgot to add...the very expensive CCrane 2E has soft mute on fading nighttime AM signals and the Sangean doesn`t. I think the Sangean uses PLL circuitry and the CCrane uses DSP.
Just bought this cool radio. Got a question here. Is using ac adapter better than using battery? Does plugging it weakens its ability to get signals? Thanks.
Sony and Panasonic have stopped making dedicated portable shortwave radios - they now sell basic but mostly fashionable AM/FM radios. Today Sangean, Tecsun and Eton/Grundig are the only major manufacturers that specialize in dedicated SW radios.
@@StratmanII xdata/radiwow also make excellent shortwave radios they just don't have a huge selection and only analogue they sell is a tiny DSP, the radios they do have are excellent on all bands they just need to come out with something like this.
@@ashab1 Agreed. I'm not sure why XHDATA and Radiowow also goes by the Sihuadon name. Both the XHDATA and the Sihuadon D-808 share the same circuitry and features but for some reason my seller prices the Sihuadon D-808 slightly higher than the XHDATA brand. 🤔 Not all DSP based receivers are good - it depends on the entire circuit design and not just the DSP chip that they use. Some cheap SDR radios for example are poorly designed that their internal circuits produce so much interference and noise, so it's not just simply plonking in a DSP chip that makes a radio good. Let's hope that XHDATA/Sihuadon/Radiowow will come up with PLL synthesized receivers and good analog radios in the future.
This is it. A full super heterodyne PLL synthesized receiver 🙏. Something like the old school analogue receivers of the 80s and 70s👌

This is a great radio to use on all bands with headphones. AM can seem noisy but using headphones mellows out the sound.
On my list of must have's.
VORW my favorite station! 9:17
Placing a small magnet on the top of the radio along the seam can really improve sensitivity when you find the sweet spot.

It's holding up strong no issues
I have this radio, its great. Works well with the tecsun an 200 loop antenna which is a really cool looking antenna
It's a very very good radio . Enjoy it 👍👍👍🇧🇩. Thanks
I heard this radio can have the light set to always on. I like that
yep but not good for battery. i have the pll660 (bought used as new) and battery do not last so much. better with no light

Nice video thanks. So now 8 months later what is your thoughts on this receiver?
still working like a beast love this little radio
I have one. Great radio. Seems to get dust under the screen does yours?
Hello, when you turn on the backlight does it stay on until you turn it off or is it timed off automatically?
You can toggle on or off
