Congratulations on finishing the first draft! Word of advice though, make sure to save several copies of it in various places. A few years ago I was just about halfway through a book I was writing, it wasn't good anyway, but all of a sudden the only copy I had on a memory stick got corrupted and I couldn't get it back.
The same happened to me, but in the case of a horribly written Harry Potter fan fiction. Great words of advice.

CHRISTINE if you are writing in Microsoft Word there is an option to switch a word to a new word throughout the whole document! You could put in the MC's old name and his new name and it would switch throughout the whole book!
Its 1:38 am and i have school tommorow, but on a more positive note, I FINISHED MY FLIPPIN FIRST DRAFT HECK YEA!
I'm rewatching this entire series and desperately hoping that a while after the book is released, you can make a video where you go through all these edits and reasons(ex. that name you couldn't keep even tho u rly liked it) cuz that would be sooooo interesting

QUICK TIP: DEPENDING ON WHAT YOU ARE USING WHETHER IT'S WORD OR GOOGLE DOCS ONCE YOU SETTLE ON A NAME YOU CAN AUTOMATICALLY CHANGE IT WITH A TOOL "FIND AND REPLACE"
FOR EXAMPLE TO FIND ALL THE "MATT" AND REPLACE WITH "JUSTIN" AND ALL THE "MATT'S" TO "JUSTIN'S" SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO IT EACH ONE MANUALLY. ALSO ILYSM AND IM SOOOO PROUD OF YOU

When I finished writing my first two books I got really excited. It was like the last episode of this. I couldn't stop smiling. I had the best day after I finished writing my books.

Hey Christine, I just wanted to tell you how much I love these videos! They are so inspiring, I have never seen anyone else make videos about writing in this way. This is honestly just what I need when I'm looking to get in the writing mood, someone sitting down and talking about their book with their viewers and how much they love it and their struggles just like a normal conversation between friends. It is also so cool to see your progress, I have watched these videos so many times now, and I love watching this one in particular especially now that I have almost finished my own first draft. Keep up the good work!

Yay! You finished the first draft! 😁 Writing a novel's hard (I'm currently writing one), so seeing that you finished your first draft just gave me a boost of encouragement to finish mine.
For some help: Sometimes there is a find and replace button in word or docs...
And how long is the book??

I remember Maggie Stiefvater changed a character's name from Lee to Sam, and when she used find and replace, words like "fleetingly" turned into "fsamtingly."
+Brie X Space is needed before and after the word to prevent that, like " Sam " instead of just inserting "Sam" in find or replace

YAY IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!! I'm planning on doing Camp NaNoWriMo in July so hopefully that will kick start my writing. I just, need to actually get into it. I have a general outline for my main plot, but there are a lot of holes in it right now and I want to eventually have multiple POVs, which I will also want to plot out, so I have a lot to do, but I hope that someday I can be at the point you just reached. Little note of help, control+F then type the first name you didn't like then click replace with and insert the new name
I'm 10,000 into my first draft! it's nothing compared to how far you've come, but I'm proud of what I've done in only about a week. I've got plenty of hours spent making character profiles and outlining too.

Just a side note just in case you haven't thought of it: most word processors have a find and replace function where all instances of the unwanted word are replaced with the new one. This obviously doesn't work if your character's name fits into other words like Wren > Helen could change words like wrench > helench :)

Christine I heard you say that you were switching in the new name, can I recommend using the find and replace button? Much easier than changing it each time. Also congrats!

When it comes to publishers, don't be disheartened if they choose to reject your manuscript! The key point they look for in a book is 'can I sell this?' With your RUclips following, you'll probably have a better chance of getting your book in print form , compared to another first-time author who has no media presence. Just remember that there will be a publisher out there who will accept your manuscript. Patience and perseverance!

When ur book gets published ( I know it's probably a while away) u should totally do what John green did with one of his books and have people submit cover art and choose one as a cover. Idk I might want to to do this cuase I want to design a book cover but I think it would be so cool!

Hahaha I did the exact same thing when I finished my first draft - I had NO idea how to move forward and I'm fairly confident the words 'what is life?' went through my mind hahaha. I'm busy editing it for the millionth time now. Craaaazy. OMG... I also just realized one of my main characters needs his name changed........ and I don't know what the hell to do.
