- Two-time world champion Shawn Porter sits with me and discusses how similar his former sparring partner, the legendary Manny Pacquiao and the current pound-for-pound superstar, undisputed super bantamweight champion, Naoya Inoue, are.
Interview done by The Porter Way Podcast & Sean Zittel RUclips channel.
This is a dumb comparison. Pacquiao fought margarito at 165 lbs when he weighed 144lbs Inoue is great but I believe he won't go above 126lbs maybe. 130lbs. Pacman was skinny. Coming up cause he was malnourished and broke af.
only reason Pacquiao was a flyweight was because of his malnourishment, once money came in for him he outgrew the low divisions by considerable amount in short time. Pacquiao had the genetic potential to be much heavier and maintain his coordination. Its the combination of those factors that make Pacquiao the once in a lifetime example that he is, and why no other boxer in history of the sport competed at high level in same divisions he did. Poverty and youth is main reason he was a flyweight and not a 122-126 lb fighter as a teen
Pacman being skinny is something most people forget
Don’t forget he was also 15 boxing lol. Even Floyd said at the same age he too was making 115 pounds
Yeah, not many know or just forget the fact that Pacquiao was in poverty and was skinny in his youth. He started fighting at 16(lying that he was 18) and was putting rocks in his pocket to fight properly. Once he was earning the money, his growth spurt was amazing and he became a natural welterweight
Pacquiao is just on a whole another level. Inoue is great tho, but doesn't compare to Pacquiao.
Its simple where the power comes from Naoya Inoue said it himself and its literally what shawn said
Naoya said , " My power come from my speed and timing but most important the precision of my punch." Naoya also said in an interview from 2019 " If i were to to hit a still object I wouldnt hit hard there are people who can hit harder on a still object. However that not what boxing is. Its about moving and having you timing and distance, with speed and hitting your opponent with the punch they dont see. Thats where the Knockout comes from." Also in this same interview Naoya showed on camera and said his grip strength is lower than the average Japanese man . " I also practice the basics no matter what form and technique"
Naoya Inoue speaks for himself so there isnt a Wheres the power come from Naoya has already said it
Appreciate you sharing.
Funny enough, Fulton confirms this in his post fight interview against Inoue. He said that it wasn't the power that got him but the timing that led to his KO. At the time, I actually thought he was just trying to passively discredit Inoue's power, but this actually helps clarifies things for me. Good insight though @MobBless97
@@DaJump11Inoue got the gift of heavy hands, obviously his craft accentuates it but punching power is so complicated and hard to define you can only refer to it as a “gift”. You can see him as a small kid in amateurs knocking other kids out, no matter how crisp your timing speed and technique is, only a gifted fighter can do that consistently through 14 oz gloves and headgear. You can hear the impact on his shots, the guy was naturally blessed and honed his talent to its sharpest point.
@@DaJump11I mean when you at watch it back Inoue hit him super fast after the body shot distracted him
@@pandabear1576 That's what Fulton said during the post fight interview. "The shot that he did land. I didn't see it. He threw the jab to the body and then came on top of the face right hand. So it wasn't so much of the power it was so the timing of the shot." I remember watching it initially back then and thought Fulton was passively downplaying Inoue's power. But, after seeing OP's post, it gave me a new perspective on Fulton's interpretation on what actually led to the knockdown. I'm not saying Inoue's power had no factor in the KO, but what eventually led to the KO was the timing.
Shawn just proved that American casuals don't watch Inoue, yet they talk sh*t about his credentials. Just goes to show how bias American boxing fans are towards others. They see he Asian and automatically claim he suck or be on drugs, when they don't check their own boxers and pay off judges.🤣
Americans exemplify the dunning Kruger effect like no other when it comes to boxing
He just praised Inoue for three minutes straight and you still find a way to whine about it, Inoue fans are insufferable
I've noticed this too. I think it's human nature to root for someone from the same background as you. But I understand boxing is a global sport and fighters don't just exist in America and so I appreciate the talents that come from overseas like GGG, Pac, Loma, Anthony Joshua, Fury, Usuk, Inoue, etc.
@@malcolmxboxthan proceed to shit on him 😂😂😂
I also noticed that black Americans are always hating on none black American boxers 😂. If you aint BLACK and AMERICAN (it must be a combination with the 2) then ur a bum. 😂
Honestly it’s just God-given fast twitch muscle fibers combined with perfect technique. You can’t really teach speed or power. You’re just born with it.
Inoue more like the Fillipino Flash Donaire than Pacquiao in terms of how he closes distance to land a combo and gets out and not so bouncy
yup, but prime Donaire will defeat inoe.
@@NaldzHobbySideYet Prime Donaire got L against Prime Rigo, while Inoue fought Prime Fulton and Prime Nery that is Kings of 122 and didn't lose vs them.
The biggest feature of Inoue is ''timing''.
Power, and skill.
Might I add his "heart". Hard to see it from his K-pop idol like looks but he is very indominable and has that eye of the tiger when turned on the switch.
A true "Bushido", a samurai warrior mentality who put death before dishonor.
Nah he has a lot of weakness in his defence look at his last fight lol.. If Casimero was the one who fought him instead of Neri he will be hospitalize..
Pacman and Inoue has two different legacies. Pacman never got undisputed and i dont think Inoue will be able to fight at welterweight divisions and heavier just like what pacman did .he must first get through the lightweight kings before that happen. Pacmans mechanics comes from his feet and fast punches thats why he keeps winning in heavier div but rarely knocking out people while inoue relies on knocking out opponents and precision of punches. The real question is can the monster carry his power to heavier divisions
Pac’s legacy is beating names like Barrera, Morales, Marquez, Hatton, Cotto, De La Hoya, Margarito, Bradley, Mosley, and Thurman and breaking the most records in boxing. Inoue’s legacy is dominance against good competition. I think that’s what’s he’s going for.
@@elel2608 Getting undisputed over fighting bums is not a good comparison when someone is fighting the best top p4p fighters lol and beating em like a pinata, undisputed is overrated on lower divisions, it is only prestige when it comes to SMW-HW
He punches like Edwin Valero but very technical and on point.
He is many levels above Edwin Valero
Yes absolutely. Only the punching style/positioning AND power reminds me of Valero though. There’s no comparison in skill, pedigree or anything else though.
Nah he fought bums thats why .. If he thinks casimero is weak why ducking him since 2019 until now..

The big question is??????? Can Inoue go up to 154 and fight Fundora, Tyszu, Crawford and other champions in that division? I don't think so. We all see what happened to him when Nerry land that hook in his jaw. That's a lazy comparison. Y'all talking about Inoue's power. The question is, can he carry that power up to Lightweight or super lightweight?
Pacman demolish his opponent by relentless combination of punches while Inoue just like crawford and tank set up a punch using their superior power, speed, timing and accuracy to end their opponent
Inoue is more Technical than Pacquiao
But Pacquiao is more Accomplished than Inoue
- Pac never grew to be a Welterweight but Pac became Dominant at 147 and even fought at 154

- In 2008 alone Pac fought at 130, 135 and 147
I think his power comes from genetics. His father was a boxer also and the fact that inoue has boxed since a toddler I think that’s where his power comes from . He has been boxing his whole life
No it doesnt his dad had a few amateur fights 3-4 thats all.
Its simple where the power comes from Naoya Inoue said it himself and its literally what shawn said

There is no opinion or debate only fact and that fact comes from Inoue not You or anyone else lmao
look if you observed manny at 122 or 126, he got some really big bones that's why his punches were really hard, unlike for inoue he doesn't have the genetics just like lomachenko who plateaued at 135, moving up in weights was easy for manny for he had the bone genetics that his head alone eclipsed the head most of his opponents even at 147
Pacquiao and inoue styles are totally different. What’s really interesting is Shawn porter Inoue is arguably no.1-no.2 on the pound for pound best fighter in the world and you only just watch him now ? What!
He is nowhere in Pacquiao's level lol.. Casinero will exposed this monster if they fight.. He fights in Japan coz he can do all the things to cheat.. A lot of boxers are complaining about their transparency not only on Inoue but all of their fighters..

Naoya is fast. the impact of his speeding punch KO his opponents coz they did not see the punch coming before they can move to avoid it or lessen the impact. Also Naoya punch in one two, one two three combination. Who were the famous boxers who did that? Barrera and Erik Morales. i think these 2 past Mexican champs if they are still young now and in their prime. they can give Naoya a good boxing competition.
from the japanese TV show .
naoya inoues grip strengh is 39kg both hand

Also, we all know during #Pacman prime, Mayweather was ducking him!💯 All those PED testing tactics Mayweather was using was to stall the long run because Mayweather knew he could've gotten knock out by #Pacman. Same goes for Tank, the #Monster WILL stand toe to toe with him and we'll see who gets the DUBB.
Inoue is a weight bully just like Haney. Inoue's real weight is between 135-147lbs depending on wbo will be his opponent. Anyone can be the monster if they are fighting in lower weight class.
His walkaround weight is 140lb. That doesn't mean he's a jr welterweight. Not how it works. 🤦 At 126lb, those guys will eclipse Inoue. There's literally a 6'1 champion there who actually IS a weight bully.
@@Fadeddreams5 That is why Manny jump off two weight classes after super-bantamweight because there is no more opponents in that division during his time. While Inoue is fighting everybody even though there are more a lot of real challenge in the next weight classes.
Inoue the turtle is nowhere near Pacquaio. Inoue is not even close to the mexican legends Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales and Juan Manuel Marquez.
Inoue is just fighting opponents he can't beat easily in his home country. he never tried fighting dangerous opponents, something Pacquiao, Marquez, Morales and Barrera did in their career. Inoue is just pure hype for the business purpose of Bob Arum
Same thoughts. While Inoue is great, I don't think he can win against Marco Antonio Barrera.
Thus can't be compared to Pacquiao.
No Cap but I've never gotten up for fighters the size of small children.
All facts
You’d get 💨 Eric. In any weight
@@blinksstayfresh2524 dude get out yo feelings. I said what I said and I definitely get to determine what it is I like.
@@EricWheeler-rz5cy i think you're in your feelings bro, what makes you think anyoen gives a fuck waht you like lol
@@EricWheeler-rz5cy - No Diddy!
Pacman power and speed inoue too slow
No. Inoue is a complete fighter. He is better than manny was.
and they compared their achievements at age 31, Undisputed titles wasn't a thing before the four-belt era.
A pair of idiots
A pair of idiots
Yeah wake me up when he fights Tank and knocks Tank out. Maybe we can start comparing Inoue to Pacquiao then!
@@elel2608 im just wondering how come on the pound for pound list, inoue is next to crawford when tank is supposed to be better than inoue? tank should be number 2 or number 1.
When innoe soon loss ? What next?😂
Inoue fought no caliber fighter thats why he looks stronger
Inoue got no caliber fighter this is not compatible to manny
if he's like pac man then he'll have no problem moving up to 135. and when he does, Tank gonna send that lil high chin of his into orbit!
If he wants to be great he must fight tank, shakur and shu shu
He'd knock them all out 😂😂😂 yall in for a dude awakening fr sounding like some privilege ass Americans watching from the comfort of your home. Demand a lot but do nothing for the sport of boxing.
You ninjas really salivating for Inoue to be beat by clearly bigger guys huh...
@@gustavofontalba yup lol...Manny did it. dude is 31 yrs old, bout time he stops messing around with those little oompa loompas and joins the big boy club
@@aj3000xhe’s an Oompa Loompa his damn self 😂 dude is too small. I like Inoue but I think he’ll get violated if he goes up to even 130
Inoue only fights in his country hahaha
casimiro is the new pacquiao🤣🤣🤣
Are we only comparing Inoue to Pac bcos their both Asian? 🤔
They're comparing him with Pacquiao because everyone knows no one is going to beat Inoue until he reaches Lightweight. By that time, he's going to be at least a 6 division world champion - the closest someone will get to Pacquiao.
@@ouro2164 At 126lb, he may lose. It will be the equivalent of Lomachenko at 135lb. Big ass dudes there, including a 6'1 weight bully. No way does Inoue make it to 135lb. 126lb will be his peak, with maybe 130lb bout for someone special.
