+CubiksRub Sorry for the late answer, I don't get a notification on mobile devices The VPC1 left me speechless, the build quality is amazing! I replaced the Kawai ES 100 with this piano, the keys feel so much different, like comparing a keyboard to an actual grand and I am not exaggerating The pedals are unfortunately a bit too loud, but I use headphones while playing so it just bothers me a "little" :p I use the Synthogy Ivory II as a VST which I got for 60€ in a bundle with the piano which was a good offer
If you have the piano software like PianoTeq or others installed on your laptop, it is almost plug-and-play. The VPC1 itself just sends out MIDI data and has no internal sound
If this midi controller is going to have all that empty surface ...i think it would be a lot more useful to make the surface flat so that way you can put the laptop used as sound source upon the Keyboard surface, THAT would be awesome. I think KAWAI should redesign this Midi Keyboard, it´s 2018 already.they already made the new versions for many of their models: ES100-ES110,ES7-ES8,MP7-MP7SE,MP11-MP11SE , they should make one like this but with the flat surface and some assignable faders(6 or8) at the right or left part of the surface. I guess if they do so ... That would be really good, guess everyone would buy that.
4:18 - 4:45 gives me chills every time. Very touching video. When I earn enough money to buy this instrument, I will be the happiest person in the world :) .
@@PeaceNinja007 Looool :) 7 years old comment :) No I did not at the end. I think during the time I wrote this, I had "Kawai MP6". I live in an apartment and like 4-5 years ago my bottom neighbor complained to me that my piano "keys" were too loud - like if I played drums. That was very sad turning moment for me :( - from then, I cannot play very "hard" at evening-to-night times because I know someone can hear it and I feel bad about it that it bothers someone else. So I did some research and I ended on "Korg B1" - which had most quiet keys I found around. So maybe, if I pay off my apartment mortgage - I will have some money to buy some house - and no neighbor will bother me ever again :) - and then I could maybe buy a real piano.
This is an awesome product from Kawai. This IS THE BEST MIDI CONTROLLER FOR PIANO on the market. But... I wish Kawai would make a version more portable , lighter , and maybe with some faders , keeping it very clean , like all their line , they make awesome keybeds , so I would like to have the opportunity to buy some alternative from Kawai to the SL88 from studio logic ( that also has wooden keys 🎹 and is cheaper and portable) for example ... 🙂
Kawai really should manufacture a silent piano with the Grand Feel action. It seems such an obvious and unique product to compliment the VPC1 I'm curious as to why iit hasn't been done yet. Regardless, the VPC1 is obviously a brilliant product. Thanks for this demo.
This just might be my next keyboard. I need something that will help my technique, my Yamaha P90 is heavy and not too responsive in it's action so it's a chore to practice Beethoven with fast passages, though it's been my piano for 12 years. I've been waiting for something like the KAWAI VPC1, though it would be necessary for me to have a controller keyboard close by for pitch, mod wheels etc. I'd pair it with the Mach V Faziolli or the Ravencroft...
Hello, All I can say is that we just put the monitor on top of another stand that was available in the video studio. I don't remember which type, sorry.
How easy is it to learn to use this with VST's? Seems great for a portable digital piano but having no prior experience with VST software I'm a bit wary of taking the risk. Are there some good in depth tutorials about?
Are you working on the VPC2 with a Grand Feel wooden keyboard action + GFP-3 triple pedal unit, will you lower the connectors on the back so that they are not visible when playing, add the possibility to split in at least 2 zones, and add one or a few very discreet stick controllers (think those of a StudioLogic SL88 Grand but in black) ?
@@SHVideografie It's complicated, I could probably discuss my thoughts on it for a few hours. Long story short I had an issue with keys clicking, got a replacement, and the replacement had a worse issue so I ended up keeping the original (which I fixed myself). Key velocity inconsistencies is something to look out for, and I've had to weigh each key and make individual adjustments - thankfully the software allows this. As far as the fundamentals go, the pivot point is a bit small, so there's increased weight as your fingers move deeper into the keys. It's not a huge problem, but I would definitely prefer a longer pivot. I also went in thinking it would feel closer to an acoustic than it actually does, and I still definitely prefer to play my fairly cheap upright. As an advanced player, it is not a suitable replacement for an acoustic, but then again probably no reasonably priced keyboard is. The action is quite good for what it is though, and I can get a decent amount of expression out of it. VST choice also obviously plays a huge factor, and Garritan is probably the cheapest good option. I love the VPC1 software - velocity curves also play a big role in the feeling of the keyboard, and they are highly customizable. Overall my expectations were probably too high, and with that said it is still miles better than any sub $1,000 keyboard I've tried. I mainly use it at night when I can't play my upright, and it is most suitable for me with improvs, fleshing out compositional ideas, and beginning to learn new passages. I'm not sure I'd practice technique on it however - it is good enough, and with enough weight for me to get through advanced passages with some finesse, but I often feel like I'm hitting the ceiling of its capabilities, and it can't quite get where I want to be. Anyway, I could go on but that's the main stuff. Definitely depends on expectations, your personal ability, the VSTs you choose, and also if you get a good keyboard without issues. I think it's still the best (and basically the only) slab within the price range with a decently heavy action and wooden keys, though I'm hoping for a VPC2 eventually.
10 years.. Maybe we can get a Vpc 2 with the new optical grand feel triple pedal system and a new designed wooden key action with plastic caps on the end tips for the hammers to sit on. Not much to ask for after 10 years I think.
You should better watch all the nice videos made for these VST piano instruments here on RUclips. The VPC-1 itself is pretty simple. Just sends MIDI data.....
Great piano, but i wish it was possible to disable auto-standby. It really annoys me, since there is a risk for the piano to crash when you turn it on (the power light never stops blinking), making me having to reboot my computer to get it working again. All this hassle could be easily avoided by the piano just being ON all the time. But no, gotta save some milliamps........
i received my vpc1 today and its absolutely amazing. its like playing a real grand piano.
thanks kawai
Thanks so much for promptly answering my comment about the sound. Michael
got my vpc1 last week. its fantastic
This still rocks 10years later. Cant wait to get my hands on ut
Ordered it just yesterday, I am way too excited!! :D

this visual design deserves piano sounds inthere in order to put it into the middle of living room...
A trick: watch series at flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching lots of of movies recently.

What stand and monitor mount is he using with it? Anyone know?

What about software, is it included in the prize?
Hello, thank you for your question. The VST software is not included in the price.
my vpc1 is coming tomorrow. can't wait
Still got it?
Nearly 10 years and there is still no successor which includes all the proposed improvements ?
This controller is next on my list. What stand is that and does the keyboard stand come with the monitor stand as well?

oh my god... it has been 9 years ago since they released the VPC1? No VPC2? What about a VPC with one sound, like the SK-EX?
What piano software is that at 4:10 please? Sounds amazing.
probably 'alissia keys' xD

what kind of music he plays 2:45???
@kawai
I'm planning on buying VPC, but I'm not sure if it will work well and have no latency if connected to macbook pro 2017 ?
Latency should not be a problem as long as you have an audio interface hooked up to your MacBook pro.

will u tell kawai to get a mac version for the editor software I was heavily upset thas y I had to go 4 the es7 which is really nice love the es7,

Hi what monitors are you using with this vpc 1. thanks.
Is it true that the velocity curves editor is not available for Mac? That seems absurd to me.
Is this a plug and play or does it require a laptop?
What sound system are you using to record this video. Speakers, Amp, etc? thanks.
Hi,
this was recorded using the line out of the PC using "ASIO for all" directly to the camera input. No editing!
enjoy it!
So are there touch curves for pianoteq 4 only and not 5?
Touch curve setting made for Pianoteq 4 will work very well for version 5 to

what is the body material made out of? sorry bad english. thanks btw

the body is made of steel and aluminium.
The side arms and bottom is wood.
No plastic at all.
Real, solid, wood? What kind? Maple? Alder? Birch? Spruce? Rosewood? Oak? Pine? Etc? Or is it MDF/particleboard with a wooden veneer over it?
Side arms are solid wood. No MDF.
