It's not really true, though. These football programs at the top schools support themselves and actually enhance the brand of these schools. Neither Michigan nor Washington has problems with academics. They are some of the best public universities in the world.

It was just awhile ago Michigan reduced Harbaugh's salary instead of firing him because he couldn't win or beat Ohio State. Now all of a sudden he's beating Ohio State and winning the BIG 10 and now the National Championship. What changed? I think the guy is a cheater. That's why he's winning now and was suspended during the year.
It also helps his brother sent some defensive coordinators to him to run the ravens style of defense. Also Michigan was a mess when Jim arrived so had to build the talent level up.
